How’d these two end up on opposite sides of the desk, you ask? Behold, the cover predictably adorned with the image of my own beloved boss for having the wingnutty gall to object to illegal aliens convicted of crimes in the U.S. being released after serving their time instead of deported and then proceeding to commit new and ever more exciting crimes. A sample quote from the report’s “Fear, Anger, and Hate” section. Have you ever?
The never-ending criminal alien revolving door — that’s the subject of this evening’s ‘Talking Points Memo.’ Here we go again — another heinous crime, another illegal alien suspect with a mile-long rap sheet, another bloody tragedy wrought by open borders.” — The O’Reilly Factor, August 10, 2007
I’m not totally unsympathetic to Waldman, actually; Dobbs dips his toe into the pool of immigration conspiracy theories too often for my liking. But the left is so pitiful and disingenuous on the subject of criminal illegal aliens — as you’ll see in clip two, where Waldman has the unholy nerve to scold him for calling so much attention to otherwise preventable crimes — that I can’t help but exult in the berating. Thirteen minutes. Enjoy.

My family has been forced to sell ranch property to support the TX Dept of Transportation plan to build the Trans Texas Corridor on US Hiway 59. There is a plan to turn this highway into I-69. There are even Interstate signs on US 59 on the side of the road which say
. The newspapers have been full of the story of future I-69 plans and Trans Texas Corridor plans for the last three or four years. Of course, there is a plan to turn I-69 into a Texas to Canada Interstate highway and any moron with a map could tell you that.
That being said, I don’t disagree with the State of TX plan to build this road, and I don’t think it is a bad thing to allow. So I agree with Lou when he says Media Matters is full of idiots who don’t have a clue about researching a topic. And I disagree with Lou that this is a bad thing.
It is just progress. We’d better get behind this or lose out in the end. Do we enforce the border security? Yes. Inspect the MX trucks when they come thru. There are several neutron radiation systems on the border which can be used to analyze truck cargo and have been in the works for at least 10 yrs, since I left the Pentagon where we appropriated the money to design and build ten of them for US Customs. Is illegal immigration a bad thing? Yes. What should we do with them when we catch them? Send the crooks home. Fine the Hell out of the good ones, and let them stay, and get them in line for green cards and legal tax documentation. Make them pay their way. If they run, they get deported until they pay their tax bills. They want to be here. Fine. Pay. Your. Way.

It will force the US government to spend billions more dollars and create even bigger government departments and agencies?

“What’s the title of the last book you wrote?” I LOVED THAT LAST QUESTION! And then it turns out to be a book about John McCain’s “free ride” with the media. Not Obama’s free ride. Oh, no, that bespectacled little puke has a “free ride” story sitting right in front of him, and he writes about McCain, rather than Obama! Too hilarious. I try to be respectful. I try to listen to other opinions. But lefties are so freakin’ transparent, and so…dumb. Sorry, they’re just dumb. From the city of Livingston Tx themselves.
http://www.livingstonisd.com/about_livingston.htm
Livingston, Texas is a growing community located in the heart of East Texas. Known for our beautiful scenery, Lake Livingston, and our rich tradition of community, we welcome you to become a part of the excitement in our town. With new businesses moving into Livingston monthly (Lowes, Jack-in-the-Box) we are rapidly becoming an important fixture on the proposed I-69 corridor. Livingston is a great place to raise a family, with all of the safety and security of small-town living, and the amenities of the city.
Polk County: Polk County is one of the fastest growing areas in Texas. Livingston, our county seat, is less than an hours drive to Bush International Airport in Houston via U.S. Highway 59 (proposed Interstate 69 NAFTA Corridor). We have the most abundant water supply in the State of Texas and an available labor pool of over 200,000 within a 50 mile radius.
I-69 designation - The Texas Route to Trade - 1-69 is the nation’s newest trade corridor proposed to run from Mexico to Canada. It is the shortest route between the Northeastern United States and South Texas. It will reduce travel time, fuel consumption and cost over the existing circuitous route and serve the largest segments of U.S. trade with Mexico and Canada. 1-69 is expected to add many new jobs resulting in additional wages and added value and increase the economic activity along the route.

You might be surprised at how many urban latte liberals are more than happy to be saving lots of money by employing illegals as their gardeners, painters, landscapers, maids, and even nannies. I used to see this all the time when I lived in Alexandria, Virginia. Some of the most liberal people I know pay slave wages to their domestic workers and pay no taxes on them either. I could go to the playground during the day with my toddler and not hear a word of English spoken by any of the nannies. If they had to employ legal residents and pay their FICA and unemployment taxes it woud cost them a lot of money! They might even have to put their own pampered teenagers to work mowing their yards!
rockmom on May 27, 2008 at 3:52 PM

I wouldn’t hold my breath.

msipes on May 27, 2008 at 4:03 PM
Maybe I’m just getting old, but I always thought the word “slavery” implied forced labor. I don’t see employers dragging illegal immigrants into the country against their will, so the term doesn’t seem to fit. Using that comparison really makes you sound foolish.
Big S on May 27, 2008 at 4:04 PM

Maxx on May 27, 2008 at 4:11 PM
I had Ann Coulter in mind when she wrote about how the civil war freed all the slaves, so all the work they used to get for free they now have to pay for, so they pay the lowest wages they can get away with. At least the slave holders provided their slaves with food and clothing, the libs barely even provide that amount. Plus, they also refer to Wal-Mart as paying slave wages. So, it was in that vein I made the comment.
RobertInAustin on May 27, 2008 at 4:11 PM
I’m no Lou Dobbs fan. But I liked him here. He should have tried to make Waldman cry.
One thing Waldman said during the interview was powerfully stupid:
It took me about 2 minutes to find dozens of unambiguously anti-semitic sites linking back to and favourably quoting mediamatters. I wonder if that makes Waldman want to step back and question what he’s doing. If he’s being responsible or not …

Taxing Walmart for paying slave wages: a great idea!
RobertInAustin on May 27, 2008 at 4:19 PM
Well, any employer hoping to stay “in business” will pay the lowest wages they can get away with. Whether that minimum is legally enforced (minimum wage laws) or the result of market forces (supply curve, meet demand curve) is really the only question.
On the flip side, workers will generally work for the highest wage they can get away with, all else being equal. Therein lies the driving force for illegal immigration into this country.
Big S on May 27, 2008 at 4:19 PM
You guys are right. The rich liberals cannot stand the idea of their cheap service economy going away. I always wonder why they want to increase minimum wage.

The average American is guilty of atrocious grammar and has a vocabulary that supplants profanities as punctuation. Furthermore, I’m guessing that almost every blog thread I have ever read has someone incorrectly using “your” in place “you’re.”

The whole issue about the borders shouldn’t involve too much arguing. If we’re not properly enforcing our borders, what point is there in having a border? Moreover, I don’t think illegal immigrants are bad people and the vast majority of them come here and work hard. But then the money they make might leave the U.S, and even if most of them are just seeking a better life, there are far too many unsavory characters sneaking in. American money is calling, and shady characters and sneaking in to grab a piece, and who knows where that money goes? For the most part, I feel for these people. Their situations were so bad they were desperate to get out and ran to America. But it’s a slap in the face to all people trying to come here legally to cater to these individuals and grant them more rights, privleges etc. They are not respecting the rules. We have to deal with this problem compassionately, but most importantly, we have simply got to protect and enforce our borders first, otherwise this complicated problem will continue to snowball and more people will become part of the mess.

SteveMG on May 27, 2008 at 4:51 PM
I want to smack that grin off of Waldman’s face. He said they excluded coverage of Ramos & Compean because it would have skewed the numbers of stories about immigration.
NO.
More coverage would have brought more awareness to the upside down nature of how our justice system is treating our border agents.
If Dobb’s is such a bad person, perhaps even a racist as the Left wants to think, why they mention that Dobb’s wife is Mexican-American? It must drive them nuts.

Learning starts at home. If you rely solely on PUBLIC schools to teach your kids, then you are an unfit parent.
I have taught some of these kids that show up to school not nowing how to wipe their butts or tie their own shoes. Many cannot recognize the letters in their own names. Many parents have never recited the alphabet to their kids.
Illegals flood our schools and drain our resources. But American parents do a fine enough job on their own at churniing out uninspired students.

Illegal imigration has nothing to do with the minimum wage. The minimum wage is about increasing union wages that are pegged to the federal minimum. Higher union wages = higher union dues = more union money going into Democrats’ campaign coffers. Many liberals also think that eventually the unions will be able to organize the illegals and return to their 1970s heyday when everyone went on strike all the time and crippled the economy, and union workers all voted Democrat.

Subsunk knows that the NAFTA Superhighway is real but doesn’t see the threat to our sovereignty, our safety, our economy, (which has suffered already).
If you read The Late Great USA, (which documents all the meetings between the (visible) players behind SPP), perhaps he/she would see the larger picture. Nothing will be inspected at ‘the border’; there isn’t a border now, so how can we expect one to appear when the NAFTA Super-dee-dooper Highway is built?!
If we “get on board” without bringing this to The People we are no longer living in a representative government.
What in heavens name would we gain by this scheme? Nothing; just look at the countries of the EU. We won’t benefit from homogenizing the three countries of North America; even Mexico’s wages have dropped since NAFTA came into being because China, India and the Philippines have cheaper labor.
Most important of all, the people being exploited by the global ‘captains of industry’ are the real losers in this crazy-ass scheme and i don’t have to go into detail about that. Read the book, even though it will scare the living daylights out of you, at least you will be informed.

Well, McCain is getting a free ride, since the mission of the media is to deride and de-legitimize Republicans, and following on the heels of their yeoman’s work over the last 8 years, the only explanation of why they do not constantly tell lies about him is that the media insufficiently hates McCain.
Conversely, the other mission of the media is to shelter Democrats from any inconvenient truths that might embarrass them, and the media is having a tough time meeting that objective in the case of Obama.
Coming soon, the book “What’s the Matter with the Media?”
