You’re right, they mostly speak Farsi and Pashto. No jellybeans for the Afghanis methinks.

I always looked forward to the random care packages. It is one thing for your family to send you a pair of clean socks or baby wipes, but to get a box from people you don’t even know is really uplifting. Great idea….shame its so “polarizing”.

I heard some commentary over the weekend that Obama hasn’t been to Iraq since 2006. Then I saw him today telling us who much he cares about the troops but the war was a strategic blunder. I saw John McCain essentially bash the Top Brass at the DOD for how long the war is taking (translation: they should have listened to me dammnit). Hillary had her usual line of crap.

Clearly this is one of those grassroots things since the politicians are too busy with the politics of war to care about the warriors.

I’m in Iraq as a contractor training local Iraqis. I could not be prouder to be a part of the rebuilding effort over here and I think the candy for the kids is an outstanding gesture.

It’s not just about rebuiding with steel and concrete, we’re building trust with the locals and that’s something that can’t be torn down (unless of course, we weasel out of our committment and leave this country before it can stand on it’s own two feet).

For the soldiers that are out here every day making sure it’s as safe as possible for me to do my job, I can’t say “thank-you” enough.

Great job by Melanie, and Michelle. The two of you are beyond great. Sean, Mark, and the others are as well. I look foward to this, and will contribute what I can. Sounds like 06/26/08 will be more than just a day I become a year older. At least I already know what I will be doing for part of my birthday. Michelle be sure to tell our brave troops how much we admire, respect, and love them for everything they do.

Great idea, great concept. I’m glad some are using the net and notoriety as a positive force to win the War on Terror. By letting our war fighters know that although we are not there with them physically, we are with them in Spirit, and that they are in our hearts and prayers.
