Video: Delicate soul grievously offended by Hillary’s hurtful remark

posted at 12:00 pm on May 24, 2008 by Allahpundit

A brief lesson on etiquette and racial sensitivity from a man known for comparing his rivals to Nazis and Klansmen. As I’ve said a million times before, the most grotesque aspect of these spectacles is how self-consciously performed they are; follow along with the official Olby Watch annotated transcript to see what I mean, or just skip ahead to the last 90 seconds or so and observe him straining mightily to reach an apoplectic crescendo. No “shut! the hell! up!” punctuation to this one, though, alas. Her Majesty, being a good liberal, is spared that Murrowesque coup de grace.

Exit question via Karl: It must feel weird for Obama supporters to see someone outside their own camp broaching this disgusting topic for once, huh?

Senator Clinton knew EXACTLY what she was saying.

This is WHY Obama shouldn’t pick her as VP….he’d have to look over his shoulder and as I’ve said before, use a food tester.

Is Obama the target for Hillary supporters? Was that CODE?

originalpechanga on May 24, 2008 at 12:04 PM

Olbermann lecturing others on intemperate speech? Calling out others for poisoning political discourse?

The man is really shameless.

And I’ve seen better staged performances by a bunch of sixth graders doing “Our Town.”

SteveMG on May 24, 2008 at 12:08 PM

You’ve got to admit, he articulates the absolute lunacy and rage in your garden variety hippie very well.

Dash on May 24, 2008 at 12:08 PM

She COULD suspend her campaign and PAY HER BILLS! You know, that 31 MILLION she owes.

originalpechanga on May 24, 2008 at 12:08 PM

Clinton, you invoked a nightmare

So that’s who is responsible for conjuring up the olberdouche.

On a more serious note: I find it most difficult to believe any evidence for evolution when the olberdouche is an ever present reminder of an omnipotent creator who has a twisted sense of humor.

Allah, can you use your atheist pope superpowers and beg people to stop with this nuttiness before someone notices it and thinks we’re all a fry short of a truther?

uggh! here take this Olbermann and pass it along to your friends.

gr8inferno on May 24, 2008 at 12:14 PM

how’s that willing suspension of disbelief coming along

maverick muse on May 24, 2008 at 12:14 PM

How many America’s does he think there is? I counted at least 5 different America’s he has referenced. Based on Mr. Olbermann’s statements, he apparently thinks there are multiple America’s and that each has an expiration date.

When I listen to the nearly nonsensical ramblings of Mr. Olbermann, I can only be reminded of the words of the playwrite Edmond Rostand; “He is a man of letters. Four to be exact, and when strung together they spell fool.”

Wrlss911Pro on May 24, 2008 at 12:19 PM

Thanks for the PW link, as always.

Since Olby is your launch pad here, let remind everyone that this is the same sorry excuse for a man who last month suggested that someone take HRC into a room “and only he comes out.”

Overbite being offended by anything at all is a laughable thought at best and at worst an insult

Defector01 on May 24, 2008 at 12:28 PM

The only thing I can think about Hillary’s “gaffe” is that it was a truly bizarre statement. I can believe she has Ted Kennedy on her mind, but I can’t believe that blurting out something about RFK’s assassination stems from that. I can believe that her staff has been busy developing all kinds of talking points about why she should stay in the race, and that that topic was a focus of her editorial board prep, but any junior leaguer could have realized that reference to an assassination or any death was out in left field and in very poor taste, at best.

No reasonable person would think she actually meant anything by it, but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t a bizarre and, yes, inappropriate reference to make.

I also think it probably has made her “toast” not because it was provocative, but because it was a bizarre way to make a point.

BigD on May 24, 2008 at 12:32 PM

What’s going on at the 1:37 mark? Olby shudders at the sound of what appears to be a whip…I’m picturing O’Reiley in a ringmaster’s outfit.

Well, I think it would be Bill Clinton’s job to pay the bills. No? And erase all those earnings he got from touring the talk ticket?

Yes origianlpechanga, you scored on that one. And AP did too: “the most grotesque aspect of these spectacles is how self-consciously performed they are”.
In the dictionary of over-acting there’s a picture of this tool next to the definition of ‘preening, maniacal narcissist’.

Why is it I think that everything about this loon boils down to the fact after years he still can’t handle that his arch-enemy O’Reilly creams him in the ratings? Damn, if boy has to set his hair on fire to get people watching, he’s going to one day do it.

ahh, the sweet bullshit of it all. Underneath all the bluster who doesn’t think for a moment that Keith would, were Hillary the dem nominee, be defending her at this very moment had she said this about Obama the repub nominee. That said, it is still a pinch myself moment watching him having now to skewer his old favorite. He was warned but chose not to listen.

These were dreams I thought not possible.

Despite all, I still thought he was a great sportscaster.

Watching Olbermann for more than a couple of minutes makes me desperately need to go to the bathroom! Of course, it is quite a change to see him get this worked up over someone not named Bush.

JayVee on May 24, 2008 at 1:15 PM

Since when has anyone at Fox News called Hillary a murderer?

Media Matters, Olbermann’s chief news source (ahem), posted something from Hannity and his radio show about the Foster murder and Hillary’s alleged involvement.

So, it goes from Hannity on his radio show repeating a rumor to someone on Fox News calling Hillary a murderer. Follow that train of logic at your own peril.

It’s called, for those not paying close attention, a smear.

This is the reportorial style of Mr. Olbermann’s.

SteveMG on May 24, 2008 at 1:17 PM

Asher on May 24, 2008 at 12:57 PM

And the person he loathes most of all is imaged back at him in every mirror and shiny surface. For his every waking moment is a torment, that he was hated by his kin, a disappointment and a failure, incapable of love and being loved, without rudder or compass. Scrambling to matter to whomever he can rattle.
I would say this to Keith Olberman, “You are an unfortunate by-product of our socio-political system. You are the exact opposite of egalitarianism and justice. If this were 1863 you would be a slave owner north of the Mason-Dixon and beat your chattel when they displeased you while printing invectives of those citizens who resided below it and did not own such. It is to our collective misfortune that citizens of your ilk are elevated to a position where you are able to inflict your inexorable vituperation on us all, even those who promote you. That those promoters are too obtuse to recognize the detriment you are to the collective is no excuse for their behavior. Your moral compass is defective and you relish in your pathetic bent. You are one of those who when your family is in a fight would only throw stones from the rear ranks not caring who gets hit.”

Beto Ochoa on May 24, 2008 at 1:23 PM

Olberman would make an excellent Muzzie as he can become enraged at the drop of a cartoon…Nevertheless, I find that puzzling as he is the head cartoon of the Obama camp..

b4lucy on May 24, 2008 at 1:30 PM

Olbermann:
“…or he could get a better offer from some wiser country…”
.
Yeah, I hear Raul Castro is not as healthy as is claimed, and Hugo Chavez has high blood pressure. I’m sure in Olby’s mind, these are wiser countries than the one he currently resides in….

Think_b4_speaking on May 24, 2008 at 1:31 PM

I’ll bet as soon as the camera is off, that turd turns to his buddies on the set and they all have a great laugh.

KO: Yuck Yuck. That was even better than the last performance.

Cameraguy: Yeah Olby, you just slay me. I don’t know where you got such great acting abilities from but that bit was hilarious. Can;t wait to see what you’ve got up your sleeve for the next one.

KO: Talent on loan from Satan. Har, top that Limbaugh.

Big John on May 24, 2008 at 1:33 PM

The most enjoyable aspect of thinking about Obama picking Hillary as his vice-presidential nominee would be the reactions of leftist sites like Kos and how Olbermann would have to handle this situation.

Back in 1939, the far left was twisted into a pretzel when Hitler and Stalin signed their non-aggression pact. Leftists in America who had been attacking Hitler and fascism throughout the 1930s suddenly had to reverse course and explain why the ‘Dolpher wasn’t such a bad guy after all, even as the Nazis invaded Poland just over a week after the agreement. Hillary and Obama aren’t Hitler and Stalin, but the reaction on the far left from those currently demonizing Mrs. Clinton with invectives normally reserved only for conservatives would be the same, and the comparisons of Keith’s “Countdown” comments about Hillary pre- and post-selection would provide hours of unintentional humor.

Great commentary and analysis on this pompus MSNBC jerk on his lastest harrang.
I particualry despise his “This America” crack.
Hill and Olby richly deserve each other.

The left save their sharpest rhetorical daggers for each other. All the Hillary supporters are being treated like Republicans. How awful. With Matthews and Olby, this has become a lefty pis-ing contest in favor of Barry Obama.
Let’s savor it while it lasts. Poetic justice is a beech.

RobCon on May 24, 2008 at 2:22 PM

I’ve often wondered about that myself.

I can remember my Mom driving me to a doctor in Sacramento and going past Vacaville where sirhan sirhan was serving time and remembering what he did.

And this was before jimmah and the trouble with iran. The muslim brotherhood had been ramping up for a while before that, but hadn’t yet come into its own.

I need to do some more research about what sirhan’s stated motives for the shooting were. I’ve never checked on that.

techno_barbarian on May 24, 2008 at 2:32 PM

How did the lousy sports reporter feel when she said
exactly the same thing to ABC?

corona on May 24, 2008 at 2:35 PM

I’m still scratching my head wondering what all the fuss is about. Hillary mentioned the RFK assassination, Keith Overbite and his fellow libs go berserk. Overbite claims Hillary shouldn’t have mentioned such a traumatic event because it’s too upsetting. We are approaching the fortieth anniversary of RFK’s death; according to Overbite’s logic, no-one should talk about it, nor should the MSM mention more recent tragedies, such as 4,000 US fatalities in Iraq. But the MSM gleefully reports every one of them.

During his rant Overbite recited a long list of items that “we had forgiven Hillary for.” Who’s this “we”? And it also begs the question: why have “we” forgiven her?
One of the items Overbite mentioned was the following:

We have even forgiven you repeatedly praising Senator McCain at Senator Obama’s expense, and your own expense, and the Democratic ticket’s expense

Why should he care about that? Overbite just confirmed what we already knew: he is a partisan Democrat hack.

Hmmm…

re: sirhan sirhan

Arab leaders compiled a curriculum of hatred for use by their children and the anti-Israeli and anti-Jewish teachings became a basic element in the study of history in the schools. Arab children were taught that Jews were the ultimate embodiment of evil and should be “destroyed.” Although Sirhan’s school was nominally Christian, teachers were mainly drawn from the Arab community, which was predominantly Muslim, with some input from foreign missionary workers. Christian Arabic children used Jordanian textbooks. From 1948 to 1967, Christian Schools in East Jerusalem were required to teach the Koran. Following his arrest for the murder of Robert Kennedy, Sirhan told of how he had been influenced by one particular teacher in his school, “Mr Suheil,” who angrily denounced present-day Arabs and compared them to the Arab warrior Saladin. Suheil tried to indoctrinate his pupils in Arab nationalism and urged them to be like Saladin and fight for the Arab cause.

Bottom line is the reason sirhan killed Kennedy is because of Kennedy’s support of Israel. I was just a kid when that happened, but I can remember the almost religious furvor surrounding Bobby Kennedy at the time.

Not unlike Comrade Obambi today.

techno_barbarian on May 24, 2008 at 3:05 PM

Another Nazi reference from Keith Olbermann:

“Can Ken Starr ignore the apparent breadth of the sympathetic response to the President’s speech? Facially, it finally dawned on me that the person Ken Starr has reminded me of facially all this time was Heinrich Himmler, including the glasses. If he now pursues the President of the United States, who, however flawed his apology was, came out and invoked God, family, his daughter, a political conspiracy and everything but the kitchen sink, would not there be some sort of comparison to a persecutor as opposed to a prosecutor for Mr. Starr?”

Keith Olbermann
on MSNBC’s Big Show, to Chicago Tribune Washington Bureau Chief James Warren, Aug. 18, 1998.

And I search in vain for a rebuke to Osama Bin Laden Alec Baldwin for this statement made to Conan O’Brian (an agitated response to the Clinton Impeachment hearings).

“…We would go down to Washington and we would stone Henry Hyde to death! …Then we would go into their homes and kill their wives and families.”

re: sirhan sirhan

Sorry. Should’ve included the link. It’s here.

What struck me most about that article is how long the indoctrination has been going on with exactly the same motives and tactics in ME countries among the religion of the perpetually outraged.

I was also struck by the fact that this line of ‘enlightend teaching’ was taught in Christian schools who were also forced to teach the koran, (allah’s handy terrorist pocket reference strikes again).

After all, like they say, it’s all in the koran…

This is the second eviscerating “Speshul Koment” he’s done on Hillary but what gets me is that for all the apoplectic outrage to camera when she was actually on his show, there in the studio, he was purring away to her like a pussycat. And what’s going on at 1:37? Does someone burst a balloon or a paper bag that it has Olby wincing like an IED has just gone off? I bet Olbermann will be very happy when Barack Obama would be elected president. Just think of how positive his show would be with a democrat in office. Why, it would be like a great black curtain would be lifted from the US - and even the world with an Obama presidency for Olbermann and all the other left-wing journalists.

You know what would piss Olbermann off? If McCain beat Obama. He might even leave the country, and broadcast his show from france. You never know.

wise_man on May 24, 2008 at 5:46 PM

What a drama queen! I don’t know if a hormonally unstable adolescent could match this nonsense.

Doberman has more shades of purple in his prose and more emotionally overcharged words and emoting than a B-star actress chewing the carpet off Broadway. BTW What is “a loud undertone”?

What the heck is afflicting this man? “…a battered nation yearning to breathe free,” “our again-troubled land,” “fractured landscape”? (Strike up “Nobody Knows the Troubles I Sees”)

What country does Doberman inhabit?

It’s obviously not this one b/c the PSMBC diva suggests that Obama could drop out for a variety of reasons, one of which is that “he could get a better offer from some other and wiser country”. Huh? Where might that Utopia be?

Sorry, KO. I do not find OhBummer to be “an inspirational leader”. He is neither inspirational nor a leader. He is, instead, a flim-flam man with a silken tongue and a big machine serving as his backup band.

Translation: Alot can happen from now until then, nobody has the nomination until they HAVE and when I’m so close, even though I’m trailing, it would be foolish for me to quit now.

She was using historical situations to express that point.

Again, manufactured outrage, this time directed at one of their own. Absolutly bizarre.

I’m now going to delouse myself in the shower with a bar of Lava soap and an S.O.S. pad. I feel so dirty.

No, “I’m sorry”, no, “Please forgive me” The nation has had to forgive you early & often.

Too bad KO didn’t say this about himself. But that would be true, & KO doesn’t do true.

While Hillary was clearly wrong with her comment, Olbermann is always good for a laugh.

Olbermann is like a kid’s toy, a Jack in the Box, he gets wound up once a day, makes a lot of funny noises and jumps up at nothing, with nothing to show for his efforts.

RJL on May 24, 2008 at 10:07 PM

You know what would piss Olbermann off? If McCain beat Obama. He might even leave the country, and broadcast his show from france. You never know.

wise_man on May 24, 2008 at 5:46 PM

In a weird way I think guys like Olbermann need someone to hate and would therefore feel very comfortable with a Republican President.

Let’s not forget that the assassination she invokes was the first instance of Islamic terrorism most of us were alive to see. Kind of ironic that she uses it against B. Hussein, isn’t it?

Sirhan Sirhan was actually a Christian.

Hilts on May 24, 2008 at 10:13 PM

This falls under the category of “blowing it out of proportion”. Sorry Keith, I’m just not that offended.

Dollayo on May 24, 2008 at 10:19 PM

What, no “Mrs. Clinton” stuff?

“You, MRS. CLINTON, cannot invoke that language at any time. And yet you, MRS. CLINTON, cannot bring yourself to apologize for your remarks?”

James on May 24, 2008 at 11:00 PM

No, thanks. I just can’t watch this guy. Let me know when he completely melts down on camera. Then I’ll watch.

d1carter on May 24, 2008 at 11:19 PM

Nobody ever others shooting TV presenters.

Think about it.

uptight on May 25, 2008 at 3:32 AM

Olbermann is an idiot desperately seeking a village!

pilamaye on May 25, 2008 at 11:07 AM

If someone likes Oblerbeotch, it generally indicates to me they havent thought deeply about the issues he’s blathering so “convincingly” about.

Though it would be funny if Obamessiah picked Hillary! for his VP. Would Oblerbeotch’s head explode more than it already has?

aikidoka on May 25, 2008 at 11:36 AM

Bloody hellfire.

I thought he was going to poop a lung.

Total cissy.

LimeyGeek on May 25, 2008 at 11:40 AM

malkinmania on May 25, 2008 at 2:48 PM

I want those 10:44 minutes of my life back.

Livefreeordie on May 25, 2008 at 8:06 PM

I refuse to click on anymore of this video garbage from Olby, especially when it is posted on HA. The fact that it is streamed from MSNBC makes me wonder if the tools over there think “how great” Olby must be to have so many views of his “Special Comments” viewed over the internet, when in fact it’s just people (like the majority of us) who just laugh and point. I get it and agree, AP, it’s video diarreah. But how much do we add to this idiot’s credibility by linking this garbage from a web site that probably has more regular viewers than all of MSNBC combined?

CapitalistPig on May 25, 2008 at 9:42 PM

Olberman is a shameless loudmouth and an a$$hat with poor ratings. I never watch his act and consider anything that comes out of his pie hole totally irrelevent when I see his rants in print.

MSNBC is a propaganda organ for the Socialist, Oops I meant Democrat Party. I do not watch their programming and would not waste my time visiting their website.

old trooper on May 26, 2008 at 9:06 AM

My God, can this guy go play in traffic already?!?!?

Please?!?!?
