Video: Maxine Waters threatens to nationalize America’s oil industry

posted at 9:26 pm on May 22, 2008 by Allahpundit

Befitting the catastrophic stupidity of this idea, she doesn’t even know what the proper term for it is. I’m sitting here telling myself that Shep and the Foxies must have taken this out of context somehow since it would seem rather newsworthy and yet there’s not a single article about it on the wires that I can find. Go figure. But here you go, one of the most alarming collectivist ad libs by a mainstream American politician since the last creepy thing Hillary said, whatever that may be. Viva Chavez!

Just think her neighbor is Laura Richardson. What is in the water that causes the voters to pull that lever?

If it’s still TV sweeps week, Maxine took the prize for best situation comedy.

I watch her and see the people behind laughing at her and all I can think of is a certain scene for Carrie:

They’re all gonna laugh at you!

They’re all gonna laugh at you!

They’re all gonna laugh at you!

Maxine Waters needs a poster like this. I thought it was a joke, but it turns out you can actually own one of these for a mere forty bucks over at Hillary’s site.

Geee I hope I didn’t just crash Hillary’s server with all the HotAir folks rushing over there to buy one.

She is a liberal democrat. Hillary is a liberal democrat. Obama is a …liberal democrat amongst other things. Howard Dean is a liberal democrat. Nancy Pelosi is a liberal democrat. Harry Reid is a liberal democrat.

What a sad state of affairs we are in that minds as small as Maxine Waters’s hold some of the highest offices in this great nation. A woman who was named “most corrupt” in the congress 2 years in a row!

Here’s some nice information about the lovely and talented Maxine Waters

During the Los Angeles riots of 1992 Congresswoman Waters described the violence in which 58 people were killed, many targeted for their race, as “a spontaneous reaction to a lot of injustice.” She defended the racial hatred that led a gang of black hoodlums to nearly murder white truck driver Reginald Denny, saying, “the anger in my district is … righteous…I’m just as angry as they are.” She chanted the radical slogan “No justice, no peace” and dismissed the mass looting of Korean-owned stores by saying: “There were mothers who took this as an opportunity to take some milk, to take some bread, to take some shoes…. They are not crooks.”

Now THAT there’s funny!

We might as well take her salary as she can not possibly be ‘earning’ it. What a total waste of funds.

And who does this idiot think will go and physically take the oil and gas wells from their hundreds of thousands of legal owners in Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma, where almost half of the guns in the country reside?

It would the the suicide mission from hell..

TexasJew on May 22, 2008 at 11:39 PM

Because lunatics like this keep getting re-elected proves that we can’t vote these idiots out of office. The people in these districts and blue states where they’re from just out number any smart and rational people.

But, we have to keep trying.

Speaking of smart people, how would you like to have been one of those execs called before congress and subjected to that stupidity? That was from all of the dems on that congressional panel. Durbin and Schumer were total idiots. The oil execs showed a lot of restraint at not laughing at them.

Maxine Waters threatens to nationalize America’s oil industry

This is their ultimate objective make no mistake. Their “energy policy” is designed to create such a crisis that only the government will be able to “solve” it.

how would you like to have been one of those execs called before congress and subjected to that stupidity?

cjs1943 on May 22, 2008 at 11:40 PM

Are you kidding? It’s the stuff dreams are made of. Sample line I’m saving for just this occasion:

“I don’t know how the US survived this long with brain dead parasites like you in Congress”

The media wouldn’t be able to ignore anything you say.

Sometimes I wonder if the oil companies are in cahoots with the liberals by keeping an adversarial charade going that allows them to be demonized for the benefit of increasing their profits. Something just doesn’t add up with all this.

Buddahpundit on May 22, 2008 at 11:53 PM

The only thing scarier than Comrade Waters plan to nationalize the oil industry is the fact that there is a majority of voters in her district dumb enough to vote for her.

I’m going to start looking for that hidden valley in Colorado..

DaveC on May 23, 2008 at 12:10 AM

Truely Martians have sucked out the Democrats’ grey matter and replaced cow chips.
They are the reason that gas in this country is so high. They refuse to let us drill for teh oil that is there.
They want this country to become their slave. They want to “even the playing field” so that they can be the biggest chuncks in the septic tank…. What would happen to the quality of the oil industry if they nationalize it? Just take a look at the medical care that Canada has reaped… I’ve heard it said that the Conservatives chart success by how many people they can get off of welfare while the Liberals consider success by how many they get on. They seem to want to keep people in teh cycle of dependency for their own glorification… so that they can feel powerful.
I mean these people act as if they are gods throwing lightening bolts from Mt. Olympus. They have no humility whatsoever… and the sad thing is that there are folks out there who actually believe and argue that it is teh responsibility of gov’t to feed, cloth and take care of the people…. it’s insane! Sorry for the rant… thanks for your indulgence…

CynicalOptimist on May 23, 2008 at 12:14 AM

I’m all for nationalizing the oil industry if we first privatize Congress. Wait, I take that back, I think they already privatized themselves.

29Victor on May 23, 2008 at 12:15 AM

She wouldn’t know a Laffer curve if it smacked her in the … ehh bad economics joke…

But seriously this is one of the dumbest things I’ve heard an American member of congress say. No Marxist squalor in the America I know. McCain needs to push Meg Whitman and some of his Silicon Valley supporters into the forefront so he can edge out the libs’ socialism and connect with people’s pockets.

FLcapitalistthug on May 23, 2008 at 12:16 AM

FLcapitalistthug on May 23, 2008 at 12:20 AM

Why is anyone surprised at this?
Especially from Waters.
It is what all but about three of the Democrats in the House and Senate really want to do.

It is what 1/3 of the Republicans in the House and Senate would like to do.

Not too far from what McCain wants to do if he can’t just shut them down completely to stop GoreBull Warming.

People need to wake up to the fact that this is no joke. There really is a Communist Party USA. They really do have a Constitution that they would like to use to replace our Constitution. They really do have a Program called “The Road to Socialism USA“. They really do hate the “Ultra-Right” and want to “Defeat the Ultra-Right“. They really are the party of Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. and Hillary Rodham Clinton. And I really do have concerns that McCain was subjected to 5 ½ years of Soviet driven “brain perversion techniques”.

Griz on May 23, 2008 at 12:49 AM

I knew this was coming! You wanna see rediculous prices? Just wait until Congress funds the expansion by hiking the prices the same way gov’t run/monopolized utility and electric companies increase your rates to fund any expanding or unforseen expenses. Which is bass-ackwards from how the private sector works.

You expand with investors and the money and capital you made from profits, not by hiking your prices. Consumers will just go elsewhere! But with a gov’t run monopoly you can’t go anywhere else. You’re stuck with that higher price.

Besides, how does congress think they can increase output if they’re the ones restricting the expansions? Or will they allow the expansions once they take over? Was this all planned?

El Guapo on May 23, 2008 at 1:08 AM

Most of us came to the realization what these people are decades ago. I guess repeating examples of their marxist tendencies over and over again is getting us somewhere, right?

Sorry, but there is not any talk show host, journalist, pundit or blog that can educate me any more on the liberal ideology. Time to circle the family wagons and join a militia.

ClassicCon on May 23, 2008 at 1:20 AM

US citizens have been sheltered for almost eight years from Marxist rule, and they have no clue what they are in for if they vote in a liberal president. They’ll figure it out in about 2 years, if 1994 was any indication. But for now, the majority are sitting around the camp fire, swaying to the Democrat music.

leftnomore on May 23, 2008 at 1:39 AM

Usually, even a non-Christian knows something about the earth, the heavens, and the other elements of this world, about the motion and orbit of the stars and even their size and relative positions, about the predictable eclipses of the sun and moon, the cycles of the years and seasons, about the kinds of animals, shrubs, stones, and so forth, and this knowledge he holds to as being certain from reason and experience. Now, it is a disgraceful and dangerous thing for an infidel to hear a Christian, presumably giving the meaning of Holy Scripture, talking nonsense on these topics; and we should take all means to prevent such an embarrassing situation, in which people show up vast ignorance in a Christian and laugh it to scorn.

Here is a lesson to take to heart:
Wherever in the world you allow marxists or muslims to coalesce violence is sure to follow.

How in the hell does she keep getting elected?
TroubledMonkey on May 22, 2008 at 9:48 PM

Because no one else from her district has the guts or brains to beat her apparently, which is sad either way.
Obviously, you have to appeal to the voters in the area, which means you must break down conservatism in a way that they’ll understand and embrace (e.g. minimum wage causes more unemployment, which is bad; lower taxes = good, which everyone likes, right? Then show how she’s raised taxes repeatedly; ask if people wish to fight for the little bit the government can give or have a chance at something greater if they work hard, all the while embracing folks like Chris Gardner, Bill Cosby and others of the same minority groups who share similar principles…)
It’s all in how you sell this. Beat her at her own game of pandering, but with solid ideas, not socialist crap that holds the people down.

JonRoss on May 22, 2008 at 11:53 PM

You, JonRoss, are exactly where I am. I’ve voted a straight conservative Republican ticket since I registered to vote in 71. I’ve believed the “R’s” represented what I held of value. Then it became voting for the lesser of two evils which is still evil. In 37 years I’ve watched this country decline, morally, spiritually, culturally and globally. And what have the R’s done? Nothing. So with the exception of Reagan, my votes have been wasted. The last straw was pretty much when Lott and Frist caved to the democrat minority in the Senate. Then we have a Grumpy Old Poop as our presidential nominee because the media forced George Allen out because of something stupid he said.
So like you, I have most likely cast my last vote for a Republican.

As the liaison who drops off donations of cash, food, and items to a local abuse shelter on behalf of my organization, I am amused at the number of Kerry/Edwards stickers still on the cars… and my car is quite a bit older than those in the lot, so it can’t be relative poverty between the givers and the takers.

Stupid. Colossally stupid.

Democrats need to “distract” Americans from the act that THEY are responsible for this situation.

And typically, they want to punish someone else.

Only way the direction will change is major Depression, global war, or a civil war. Everything else is just talk.

And who’s to say God wont visit those things on us? Ever read the Old Testament, the judgments He sent on His people when they turned against Him? We’ve done the same thing and if anybody has judgment coming it’s this country. We get the kind of leadership we deserve. And as a Christian I do pray daily for guidance for our leadership. But right now I’m more optimistiec about the future of Israel than I am about the US.
And keep this in mind:

2Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Now God told this to His OT people. Is there any reason to think it cannot apply to us?
God told the OT Hebrews over, and over and over again – turn from me and I will bring judgment, and He did. Why cant we realize this?

This John Hofmeister needs to be commended! He is standing up where others are hiding under the tables.

One other thing, ClassicCon – I dont disagree with you. I’ve been saying for some time that a complete economic and social breakdown will be the only thing that will put this country back to how the Founders set it up. But at the same time, I’m some what concerned about what will really emerge.

Heh…and to think I was about to post that there should be a basic competency test…covering literacy, macroeconomics, history, logic, and political science…in order to put your name on a ballot.

I think that was the low Water mark of the day.

The Rupukes should immediately introduce a bill to nationalize the oil companies and make the Donks vote on it!

First of all, just say “bring it on”, try it.
I had the unfortunate experience of several years ago of going to a political event with her as one of the main speakers (a good friend of mine was an ultra-liberal), the hate towards whites was unbelievable. Probably about 10% of us were white; 9% were nodding their head in agreement, I was flabbergasted. Walking out I told my friend don’t ever put me in that situation again, he had no idea what I was saying. That is how that whole mindset thinks, it is just natural. They hate anything white, and big business is “white” business. From that day on, I knew my “friend” hated me.

Geez she is a dumba**.

It’s worth watching just to experience her erudition.

America! Where anyone, regardless of race, creed, color, competence or mental stability can hold high office.
