Is it really going to matter who he picks? The Republicans are going to lose seats. The only thing that McCain has going for him (in my opinion) is he supports the war on terrorism. Bush gets his funding for the war with all sorts of pork attached, so what will be the difference other than more pork? McCain will have to cave just to get the funding, or pull us out. Either way, the Democrats win. If he gets angry and speaks out about the crap congress is sending him to sign, the media will make him look like a fool as they have done with Bush. He will end up being a four year Lame Duck president.

I'm waiting for McCain to talk to Hillary.
I wouldn't be surprised if he suggests she could be somewhere in his administration.

I always suspected Teddy figured that Massachusetts was his own personal 3rd world dictatorship. This rather proves it. "Dynasty" indeed. (Don't Dynasties always die nasty?)

Well BO decision for VP is easy it is either Hillary or Kansas Governor Sebelius. If he picks anyone else he won't be president cause he lost the female vote.

Johnson performed the same role in 2004 and 1984 for then-Democratic presidential nominees John Kerry and Walter Mondale.

Let's hope this guy can go three for three!!

I'm hoping none of you are serious in positing Lieberman and Hillary as possible VP selections. Presidents have left office during their terms, for one reason or another, before. Do you seriously want to consider either of these two as your President?

Second that one. Jindal is a true Conservative, but both his inexperience, as well as the fact that you don't want him either on a losing ticket, or on a winning ticket with no coattails. Since McCain is likely to have a Dem Congress, I'm not interested in a true Conservative being wasted on him.

If he picks Hillary, all the Hillary voters (who are actually anti-Obama voters, who may have voted for McCain, now will vote for McCain

Yesterday, the news broke that John McCain would hold a VP barbecue bash this weekend, in which his closest friends would attend.

McCain would have to be nuts to hold an event at which the major candidates for his selection of running mate would get to know who each other are. With so many ambitious people, revealing his list would only make for some vicious private, as well as public, campaigning among them. I don't think any of the gathered individuals will end up on the ticket. He's shoring up their support and letting them know it won't be them.

You want a rising GOP star? I submit for consideration Matt "The Law" Lindland, currently running for state senate in the People's Republic of Oregon. MMA fans will certainly recognize him.
No, I don't actually think he's ready to be VP. I just wanted an excuse to post this, and this seemed to be the most fitting thread.

I'm not willing to call Jindal a RINO. But I can tell you as a La. resident and a person who has voted for Jindal many times and followed his career for years, he's been VERY disappointing as Governor. We thought he was going to blow in here, shake things up, and get La. on the right track. And instead, it looks a lot like business as usual.

It appears that McCain isn’t outsourcing the selection-committee process but quarterbacking it himself.

That's cause he has the experience.

P.S. With Obama's record, he'll need 2 VPs

McCain will pick the man that will give him the most "net" votes. No other reason to choose a VP. Unlike others believe, Cheney does not and never has "run the White House", that is pure poppy-cock, created by the left wing news. And of course, Bush haters hop on this, such is their mind.
Anyone that can garner the votes, also has a history of leadership and would be "shown" to be VP material.
Votes, that is what McCain needs, net votes.

Graham was asked by The Hill and he said there are others better suited for the role than him.

Well, it's hard to argue with that. McCain would also be wise to keep Graham away from La Raza, at least until the campaign is over.

For McCain, the inclusion of Joe Lieberman and Lindsay Graham lends a little more heft to the story. Those are his closest friends in the Senate, and while neither of them have a hope of joining the ticket

Graham was asked by The Hill and he said there are others better suited for the role than him. Not sure about Liebs.

Really, Ed? Do you promise? Because as each day passes without the Republicans doing anything Republican, I'm getting closer to thinking they're just trying to out-Democrat the Democrats.

With the exception of Dick Cheney, VPs will not matter in this election.

1 - People didn’t vote for Bush because of Cheney, the second time at least.

2 - Cheney is running the show.

The opposite will happen this time.

To clarify, this time around, the VP will not run any show like Cheney is doing alone now after the departure of Karl Rove, the idiot.

In McCain's case, it sounds like a gathering of RI.....well, no need to go further.

What? No Inhofe? No DeMint? No Shelby? No Sessions? No Sanford? Dare I say, No Fred!?

We'll never know, but I would love to see what happens when bear-hating gubernatorial litigant Sarah Palin's name comes up.
