I don’t think Hillary can hurt Obama much more than she already has. I hope she stays in the race, if not for anything but to try and guess which ploy she’ll try next to get a headline.

And the exit question is a nightmare! God forbid, a Klinton on the Supreme Court. I can just imagine that lecher husband of hers hanging about waiting for the interns to take their breaks.

You don’t even have to be a lawyer. You don’t even have to go to law school.

The sole mandatory qualification for being a Supreme Court Justice is being able to get enough votes in the Senate.

Oh, and being able to see the penumbrous emanation that the Bill of Rights gives off.

Do you know how much of a loon Ginsburg is? She’s argued that the age of consent should be 12. Or Breyer and his loony “active justice” theory?

Supreme Court appointments, prior to Reagan, traditionally were patronage jobs, albeit much classier patronage jobs than your average political appointee or Hill staffer. District Judges and Court of Appeals judges still are patronage oriented positions. Under that old system, a bright political insider could, for political reasons, be appointed to the Supreme Court. There are dozens of examples.

Whether it would fly in 2009 is a different story, thanks to groups like the Federalist Society (conflict alert-I’m a member) which have caused increased emphasis on the intellectual and judicial credentials of S. Ct. nominees. Under that analytic rubric, I think a Hillary nomination could get derailed.

Ditto! I want to see Michelle back on Fox prime-time. I think MKH has replaced Michelle as a regular guest on O’Reilly (she’s appeared twice a week now for what, three weeks running?), but maybe Michelle can talk her way into the Hannity & Colmes or On The Record rotation.

As for Hillary, I think she is going to stay in through the convention. Why not? She’s only got 2 weeks to go and all the primaries are over. After that point, she doesn’t have to spend a lot of money anymore. So, at that point you get your attack dogs to leak negative stories on Obama and try to gin controversy while simultaneously pushing hard to get the Michigan and Florida delegations seated. Then you sit back and see what happens. If Hillary wins on Michigan and Florida and if more negative press comes out on Obama and she STILL can’t sway superdels, then my guess is she’ll throw in the towel and say “I won more popular primary votes and I fought to get Michigan and Florida counted and now that I have, for the good of my party and the nation, I’ll step aside.”

It would almost be as ridiculous when Harding appointed former President William Taft as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

My belief is that it helps to have a couple of politicians on the Supreme Court to have a wider mix of opinions. No matter how original intent-y we’d like the SC to be, the SC is going to face questions of interpretation. Politicians make their intent vague to pass laws. It’s best to have several different types of eyes when having to interpret.

I don’t consider having lots of experience being a defendant as qualifications for SCOTUS.

On purpose. Most liberals do it. They figure they have to talk fast 1) because they have to get as many talking point words in as possible for their liberal viewers to think they know what they are talking about and 2) they know conservative viewers will stop listening after the first ridiculous sentence of spin.

Yes, she’d going to have to downsize her ego and accept that King isn’t in the cards. But there are plenty of little kingdoms and well-paying petty dictatorships to be found in the public and private sectors and I predict she’ll end up in one or the other. But public servant in the best sense of the word? She doesn’t have it in her and never did.

Oh-yeah. Too much fun to listen to her speaking the lines that will make up the RNC commercials in a few short weeks.

It’s been done already. President Taft was appointed to the Supreme Court. But he had some experience as a judge.

The general campaign will begin as soon as she gets out, which will take her off the news pages as the MSM starts working on McCain and following the demise of Ted Kennedy. And no disrespect meant in that; my stepfather died of brain cancer earlier this year and the Kennedy’s have my empathy.

For what it’s worth, Arlen Specter ain’t doing so well, either. And was I the only one absolutely horrified at the speactacle of Robert Byrd the other day? Seriously, he needs to go; he simply is no longer up to the job.
