As always, another good job from Michelle.

I don't think Hillary can hurt Obama much more than she already has. I hope she stays in the race, if not for anything but to try and guess which ploy she'll try next to get a headline.

And the exit question is a nightmare! God forbid, a Klinton on the Supreme Court. I can just imagine that lecher husband of hers hanging about waiting for the interns to take their breaks.

You need to start distinguishing between Obama and Malkin when you say Michelle. It took me a while to switch gears in this post. Yes, you said "the boss" but when I first read it I thought you were referring to her commenting on Michelle Obama's comments or something.

Hillary must remain in the race! Operation Chaos demands it! I have not heard any orders from Command Central to the contrary and neither has Hillary and thus she stays in. Rush will decide when to order her out of the race and only Rush!

You don't even have to be a lawyer. You don't even have to go to law school.

The sole mandatory qualification for being a Supreme Court Justice is being able to get enough votes in the Senate.

Oh, and being able to see the penumbrous emanation that the Bill of Rights gives off.

Do you know how much of a loon Ginsburg is? She's argued that the age of consent should be 12. Or Breyer and his loony "active justice" theory?

You're giving him waaaaay too much credit for planning, here, Connie. This is an act that clowns like him hone from the moment that they think they can be someone.

"Advisers say that continuing her candidacy is partly a means to show her supporters — especially young women — that she is not a quitter and will not be pushed around."
Bwahahahaha...she won't quit because she can't. It's in her nature to hang on until the bitter end becomes a beginning.
Michelle was spot-on as usual and Marc Lamont's comment about Ted Kennedy's diagnosis being a "political crisis" in the Demo party shows how insane they are. I think it's a sign of hope, but I mustn't be so mean...
BTW: Savage's viewpoints aren't about 'class' or 'being nice'. He lets other people be hypocrites when they take the high road and call him what he is: savage. So be it. The truth (and his take on the truth especially) isn't pretty, so if you don't like it, don't listen. I certainly can't take him on a daily basis.

But since the Billary keeps loaning $$ to her own campaign to the tune of $30M+, she must be thinking of something in return. Now what could that be? She will not quit IMO, the Clinton Crime family will never give up, they will only go away when they're carried out fett first!

[I]n private conversations and in interviews, Mrs. Clinton has begun asserting that she believes sexism, rather than racism, has cast a shadow over the primary fight, a point some of her supporters have made for months.

And, of course, incompetence has nothing to do with it?

Sure, Hillary isn't a quiter. Everyone respects that. But that doesn't autoamtically make her competent.

What launched Hillary onto the national political scene? Her own efforts? Or the coat-tails of Bill?

The Irony is that the only strong point she has is her sex. Other than this, (the sexism being in her favor), there is nothing all that special about her in context of peer politiicians.

Allahpundit, with all due respect, I think you owe a better answer. [as to why Hillary could be appointed to the S. Ct.]

BigD on May 21, 2008 at 12:24 PM

Supreme Court appointments, prior to Reagan, traditionally were patronage jobs, albeit much classier patronage jobs than your average political appointee or Hill staffer. District Judges and Court of Appeals judges still are patronage oriented positions. Under that old system, a bright political insider could, for political reasons, be appointed to the Supreme Court. There are dozens of examples.

Whether it would fly in 2009 is a different story, thanks to groups like the Federalist Society (conflict alert-I'm a member) which have caused increased emphasis on the intellectual and judicial credentials of S. Ct. nominees. Under that analytic rubric, I think a Hillary nomination could get derailed.

I wish O’Rielly would make up with Michelle. I miss her on “The Factor”.

Ditto! I want to see Michelle back on Fox prime-time. I think MKH has replaced Michelle as a regular guest on O'Reilly (she's appeared twice a week now for what, three weeks running?), but maybe Michelle can talk her way into the Hannity & Colmes or On The Record rotation.

As for Hillary, I think she is going to stay in through the convention. Why not? She's only got 2 weeks to go and all the primaries are over. After that point, she doesn't have to spend a lot of money anymore. So, at that point you get your attack dogs to leak negative stories on Obama and try to gin controversy while simultaneously pushing hard to get the Michigan and Florida delegations seated. Then you sit back and see what happens. If Hillary wins on Michigan and Florida and if more negative press comes out on Obama and she STILL can't sway superdels, then my guess is she'll throw in the towel and say "I won more popular primary votes and I fought to get Michigan and Florida counted and now that I have, for the good of my party and the nation, I'll step aside."

How the heck could Hillary be considered for Supreme Court Justice?!

Why not? Legal background, political power. It’s been known to happen.

Also, what was your position on the Harriett Miers nomination? (I can't remember the time frame or I would have searched the archives.) I am not defending it, mind you, only asking since you seem to think Hillary could be nominated.

I don’t see how it would be possible to get either silky or the iceberg on the Supreme Court. Wouldn’t that set a pretty ridiculous precedent?

It would almost be as ridiculous when Harding appointed former President William Taft as Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

My belief is that it helps to have a couple of politicians on the Supreme Court to have a wider mix of opinions. No matter how original intent-y we'd like the SC to be, the SC is going to face questions of interpretation. Politicians make their intent vague to pass laws. It's best to have several different types of eyes when having to interpret.

How the heck could Hillary be considered for Supreme Court Justice?!

Seriously?!

I don't consider having lots of experience being a defendant as qualifications for SCOTUS.

On purpose. Most liberals do it. They figure they have to talk fast 1) because they have to get as many talking point words in as possible for their liberal viewers to think they know what they are talking about and 2) they know conservative viewers will stop listening after the first ridiculous sentence of spin.

I think Hillary would despise the notion of a position on the Supreme Court. For what, to be a Ginsberg-wannabe without the resume? To have one vote, no more privledged than the others? Hillary is running for president to be an absolute monarch - and nothing short of it. That's the power-rush she craves. She ran for the Senate to serve her own interests, as a stepping stone position, not because she gave a damn about serving the interests of the public.

Yes, she'd going to have to downsize her ego and accept that King isn't in the cards. But there are plenty of little kingdoms and well-paying petty dictatorships to be found in the public and private sectors and I predict she'll end up in one or the other. But public servant in the best sense of the word? She doesn't have it in her and never did.

PS On-topic, kind of, is yet another opportunity to be reminded of Fox's affirmative action bona fides, via the continuing embarrassment of broadcasting know-nothing nitwit Professor Mark Lamont Hill next to the divine Ms. M.

The thinking black man's Al Sharpton. Same message; better haircut.

Ya'll need to go back to posting all of MM's appearances on TV. You used to do it all the time. Now not so much anymore. It's always good to see her. Since she doesn't have a regular time anymore, it's hard to find her unless you are glued to the TV.

Oh-yeah. Too much fun to listen to her speaking the lines that will make up the RNC commercials in a few short weeks.

I don’t see how it would be possible to get either silky or the iceberg on the Supreme Court. Wouldn’t that set a pretty ridiculous precedent? Putting former politicians on there? How about we put Newt Gingrich on there the next chance we get?

It's been done already. President Taft was appointed to the Supreme Court. But he had some experience as a judge.

After June 3 would be the ideal time for her to go, because she wouldn't have to go back to Washington shame-faced. The Senate will be in recess, she can take the summer off in New York or wherever and resurface in August at the convention.

The general campaign will begin as soon as she gets out, which will take her off the news pages as the MSM starts working on McCain and following the demise of Ted Kennedy. And no disrespect meant in that; my stepfather died of brain cancer earlier this year and the Kennedy's have my empathy.

For what it's worth, Arlen Specter ain't doing so well, either. And was I the only one absolutely horrified at the speactacle of Robert Byrd the other day? Seriously, he needs to go; he simply is no longer up to the job.
