New Hillary argument: Obama’s red-state strength will be nullified by crooked GOP officials anyway

As the ‘Busters note, this wasn’t the only reference last night on MSNBC to Democrats having been tragically denied a rightful victory. Ace thinks Andrea Mitchell’s description of this sort of paranoia as the “realist” position is her way of saying the theory’s credible; I think “realist” is merely a reference to the people in Hillary’s camp who’ve accepted that she’s not going to win the nomination and are now resorting to nutty last-ditch arguments like this to the superdelegates. She has almost no legs left to stand on; might as well float the idea that blue states and battlegrounds are the only ones where Democrats can get a fair shake — which, insofar as it wipes away all of Obama’s red-state primary and caucus victories, is an exercise in disenfranchisement that dwarfs Florida and Michigan. Why not go the whole nine yards and accuse electoral officials in those states of having rigged the primaries so that he’d win? Sure, they’re Democrats. But the hand of Rove is everywhere, my friends.

Exit question: Note the purple lines. Why bother with nonsense claims like this when they might, conceivably, have one legitimate argument still up their sleeve?

Andrea Mitchell telling us that the Obama camp is worried about getting a “fair” vote in red states. This is the same Andrea Mitchell that told us Hillary was about to drop out right?

Spirit of 1776 on May 21, 2008 at 1:04 PM

TRIPE TRIPE TRIPE

Hillary is in the QUAGMIRE of debt. Will her lobbyists cough up?

Rove you magnificent bastard!

The whining about quoting Media Matters will resume, no doubt, now that you’re showing a clip from MSNBC.

jgapinoy on May 21, 2008 at 1:07 PM

Yep, just another way of saying them Repubs are just waiting for the lynching party to begin.

What a tool.

in_awe on May 21, 2008 at 1:10 PM

Given that the only documented cases of vote fraud have been perpetrated by the Democrats this line of reasoning won’t get her anywhere. The Republican vote fraud meme is meant for external not internal consumption.

I guess Hillary has been living inside the protective MSM bubble for so long that she has lost contact with the real world.

jerryofva on May 21, 2008 at 1:12 PM

In the long run this argument isn’t really untrue or nonsense. I’m sure they are trying to convince super delegates into their view of reality, which just might be the truth.

“Katheryn Harris types”

Unbelievable.

VolMagic on May 21, 2008 at 1:16 PM

Sounds like Mitchell has been cheating on Greenspan with Olberdouche

At least its not like David Gergen telling Hillary to tell your racist rupporters you dont want their vote

New Hillary argument: Obama’s red-state strength will be nullified by crooked GOP officials anyway

The Democrats are projecting again.

They are the ones who tamper with and try to steal elections. Sometimes they are even successful. They came darn close in 2000. If they had, we would presently be suffering under President Gore-Bull Warming.

Red Pill on May 21, 2008 at 1:21 PM

So are the republican governors going to get together and demand an apology from nbc or hillary or will they just let it blow over? My guess is, as is the practice of the gutless republican party, they will let it go because they are “bigger” then that. Meanwhile a statement that basically slanders all republicans settles in the public psyche (albeit the very limited part that watches msnbc). A demand for an apology would go hand in hand with the White House slamming nbc this week but don’t expect the republicans to break their streak of not taking advantage of opportunities presented on a platter.

Future Hillary Arguments:

best 2 out of three
double-or-nothing
first one was just practice
I wasn’t ready yet

pedestrian on May 21, 2008 at 1:27 PM

Oh I get it the Repubs will just cheat if they cant win fairly. Ok planting seeds for when he DOES lose and not by cheating. Way to bring the country back together there MSNBC.

TroubledMonkey on May 21, 2008 at 1:31 PM

The Republicans should be more ethical, less corrupt, like in Chicago politics – Democrat style.

Yup, Hillary, you nailed this one.

OhEssYouCowboys on May 21, 2008 at 1:33 PM

If Andrea’s husband had her forecasting abilities, we’d need wheelbarrows to cart around our lunch money right now.

I’m also waiting for someone at MSNBC or elsewhere to hypothesize what the African-American turnout in certain urban areas might be this fall. I believe some of the voting precincts in Philadelpiha in 2004 reported a 102 percent turnout of voters vs. registered voters in the area to cast ballots for John F. Kerry. Surely the Obama supporters will try to top that impressive number this time around, and it would be nice if one of the TV networks would lower themselves to report on it.

jon1979 on May 21, 2008 at 1:34 PM

Repubs. are sucky cheaters anyway. 2006 Congressional elections.

JiangxiDad on May 21, 2008 at 1:35 PM

Yes, it’s true. Rove created Katherine Harris.

JammieWearingFool on May 21, 2008 at 1:38 PM

Go hilldog! Cut the dem party right down the middle and then blame righty.

swami on May 21, 2008 at 1:38 PM

Andrea Mitchell’s husband was an Ayn Rand groupie back in the day. She would hang out at coffee shops and the like and Greenspan followed her around like a puppy.

Isn’t that just the oddest thing? Andrea does not believe in people being the masters of their own destinty and her husband worshiped at the feet of Ayn Rand.

Wow, history repeats itself. Superbowl XXXVI, Rams stopped the Titans on the one.

HILLARY FOR MVP!

Limerick on May 21, 2008 at 1:40 PM

I was wondering how long it would take for someone to play the “Republican vote fraud” card. That didn’t take very long at all.

Stefka on May 21, 2008 at 1:52 PM

Stefka on May 21, 2008 at 1:52 PM

Just prepping the battlefield in case the election is close.

Limerick on May 21, 2008 at 1:58 PM

So if Dems win it’s because they’re better, and if Repubs win it’s because they’re cheaters, because no right-thinking person could ever vote Republican. Straight talk from the non-reality based community.

rbj on May 21, 2008 at 2:14 PM

Such utter rubbish. He has to figure out how to get a fair vote in the red states, because the state-level officials are “red”?

The logic is stunning! If the state is run by Republicans, it probably means the voters vote Republican, and they’ll vote Republican in the presidential election. How hard is that to figure out?

Just prepping the battlefield in case the election is close.

No doubt. I think they’re prepping it either way, actually. I’ve been thinking the election will be a landslide McCain win for a while. Either way, the MSM and Team Change We Can Believe In, are setting themselves up to tear the country apart even more after himself loses.

That’s why the only semi-truthful talking point he has is that he will help get both sides working together again. When the Dems lose, they throw tantrums, undermine the country in the name of politics, and do everything they can to create groups of people pitted against each other (rich v. poor, black v. white, etc…). That’s just what they do.

If these so-called journalists really want a hard hitting story about election fraud they should do some investigative reporting in Chicago, Boston, Philly, or New York.

reaganaut on May 21, 2008 at 2:43 PM

On a side note, this morning I was watching a montage of reaction to the news about Kennedy’s tumor.

In every interview the camera was centered on the person being interviewed for their reaction, except Obama. In his shot, he was off to the left a bit, and a large sign on the wall with his campaign slogan was included in the picture.

Pathetic.

reaganaut on May 21, 2008 at 2:47 PM

AP sure is running hot and cold for his girl Hillary.

I think she has pretty good arguments about his unelectability and her greater viability in purple states. If Barry wasn’t black, she’d have a decent chance of getting the nomination anyway.

misterpeasea on May 21, 2008 at 3:01 PM

Andea Mitchell is brainwashed…..nothing more….nothing less. Her existence is not relevant to the human race. She is perfect for MSNBC. I think she and Olberman should hook up prove once and for all that MSNBC has lost its sanity.

volsense on May 21, 2008 at 3:11 PM

So, if Hillary wins the popular vote, but loses the nomination to Barry, can we have “Re-defeat Barry ‘08″ bumper stickers for the general?

misterpeasea on May 21, 2008 at 3:31 PM

Democrats – perpetual victims of The Man. Even when they’re the ones in power.

That an establishment, “mainstream” reporter goes on TV in America and pretends that we live in some demented version of Putin’s fascist Russia is just further evidence of how intellectually empty the media are. And they don’t understand why their ratings are dropping like a rock.

Django on May 21, 2008 at 3:40 PM

She doesn’t think he will get a far vote. I really think it is time she turn NBC and MSNBC, all of it. Boycott GE. HSe is calling the GOP, essentailly racist since they would not vote for Obama.

Of course, on the other hand, she may just be upset with her husband, Allan Greenspan. He has already said that he is voting for McCain.

ConservativePartyNow on May 21, 2008 at 3:55 PM

I’m a bit worried about what Fast Eddie’s people and ACRORN have up their sleeves in my state. Whatever it might be, it’s not going to help a Republican candidate against Obama.

Democrats actually have the nerve to accuse others of cheating after all the big city voting shenanigans they’ve pulled over the years?

forest on May 21, 2008 at 3:59 PM

I haven’t watched NBC News, much less MSNBC–not Russert, not Today, not Brian Williams, not that old fraud Andrea Mitchell, none of them–since the 04 election. They are propagandists for the Left.

james23 on May 21, 2008 at 4:03 PM

MSNBC should be called out by all fair minded people for what they really are. They are the OBAMA NEWS NETWORK!
All Obama, all the time, 24/7.

Worst of all, they seem to be getting worse by the second!

Conservaboomer on May 21, 2008 at 4:10 PM

Aren’t these the people who always have boxes of ballots in warehouses that weren’t counted? They always bring them out when an election is close, and lo and behold, after counting these “misplaced” ballots, the dem wins!

cjs1943 on May 21, 2008 at 4:46 PM

Don’t forget……It’s only voter fraud if the Republicans win.

ultracon on May 21, 2008 at 6:15 PM

if you want to know what a democrap is up to, just look and see what they are accusing the repubs of doing.

Yes, but that gives them the expertise to speak from authority.

OldEnglish on May 21, 2008 at 8:43 PM

Who devised the concept of Red and Blue States, and mislabeling them. Blue is refreshing that appropriately represent conservative view that independent action is capable of finding solutions. While, red is an angry color representing turmoil and indecisiveness that can only exist under strict control of dictatorial rule.
