Thank you, Geek for stating things so eloquently. When we dehumanize others we lose a part of ourselves in the process.

As sorry as I am for his family, the man is the epitome of evil.

A woman died, and this stellar example of humanity gets a pass?

I’ve hated this guy for almost 40 years for his callous and selfish indifference and I sincerely hope he burns in hell.

Remember, a man’s family is hurting at the moment. And now, because his ideological opponents can’t put down their pitchforks for a few days, they get to see that vitriol spewed in a public place.

Ya gotta love the anonymity of the Internet. All kinds of behavior that would have been utterly shameful in civilized society is acceptable because you can’t be held accountable for what you have to say. And we wonder at the decline in common decency.

This is a sad day for the Kennedy family. Let’s hope cancer research will find some help quickly.

Please, retire now, Senator and enjoy the time left with your family. You won’t regret that you did…

Kennedy has been active for his age, maintaining an aggressive schedule on Capitol Hill and across Massachusetts. He has made several campaign appearances for Sen. Barack Obama.

“He fights for what he thinks is right. And we want to make sure that he’s fighting this illness,” Obama said Tuesday. “And it’s our job now to support him in the way that he has supported us for so many years.”

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton said: “Ted Kennedy’s courage and resolve are unmatched, and they have made him one of the greatest legislators in Senate history. Our thoughts are with him and Vicki and we are praying for a quick and full recovery.”

Barack’s quote contained no mention of prayer, only “support”. I checked Obama’s site and don’t see any mention of prayer there, either (although that may change quickly once the Obama staffers read this comment).

That’s a bit strange for the man who portrays himself like this.

We are all sinners – but I would argue that most of us didn’t leave someone to drown in a car to protect our own personal situation.

Sin is sin – but some sins are more egregious than others. And yes, we should bring up his past transgressions – why lionize him just because he’s sick? His cancer doesn’t take absolve him of the sin of, at the very least, manslaughter.

For me, a prayer for the immortal soul will do.

There is nothing more important. If I seek Christ’s forgiveness, who am I to deny it to another (as if I could….or would)?

I’m wondering if Mr Kennedy wished the US had a national healthcare system now or if he would rather use the best doctors money can buy.

I suppose most of you who are doing all of the judging have nothing in your past that you’re regretful of. That must be nice. As for me, I’m a sinner just like he is.

Speaking just for myself, I’m no different in that there are things in my past I regret. I’ve also repented before God and man and asked for forgivness from both. I’ve seen no such action from Kennedy. However, I cant and wont judge his heart – God will do that – but I can and will judge his actions. And his behavior at Chappaquidick was certainly an action.
I too am a sinner saved by grace.

In my personal experience, karma is more about someone getting payback for the damage they cause. Again, in my personal experience it isn’t always “in kind” – it’s just payback.

Cancer is horrible, no question about that. As I said my dad died of cancer and it’s hideous to stand by and helplessly watch. I feel so bad for his family, that they have to go thru that.

For Teddy? It took a long time and it may not be as ironic as perhaps you think it should be, but karma gets anyone who deserves it, some how, some way.

I still don’t entirely understand what Karma has to do with it. He’s an old man, old men die. He’s just doing what old men do. I would think Karma would at least take him before he was 80…maybe there’s not such thing as karma at all.
