“He [Obama] told me he didn’t think it was a big deal, that he knew I didn’t mean anything by it and not to worry. He was a class act and gracious. Too bad the people who blew it up on the Internet weren’t as classy or calm as he was.”

A puppet master need not be the voice of the puppet.
Just the one pulling the strings.

Oh, and the Florida Democrat primary not counting was intentional…it was designed to encourage Democrats to switch parties and vote in the Republican primary for McCain. That was part of Hillary’s 2008 game plan.
Red Pill on May 21, 2008 at 12:38 AM
McCain needs Huckabee to get the evangelical vote as much as Obama needs Jeese Jackson to get the black vote.

Don’t like the Huckster, but this was just a lame gun joke as he tried to pander to the National Rifle Association audience.
That it gets him our of VP running is a good thing.
Still, it was hardly an “assassination joke“, but simply an “Obama probably doesn’t know what a gun looks like” dull witticism that he hoped would charm the NRA crowd.
In any case, glad he shot himself in the foot and is out of the running (sic).

Though still loved by Rollins and Norris
The Huckster is no longer for us
To cameras he’ll lurch
His foes to besmirch
You’d think that by now he would bore us.

Sir, do you know what your doing or even saying for that matter? Give your head a shake. That’s absurd, ridiculous, nonsense! The Republican Establishment; ie, Rush, Beck, Hannity, Ingraham (other radio hosts) Drudge, Coulter, Fox News, many of them admittedly for Romney and against Huckabee. Neo-conservatives and the inane comments from television pundits and panels. They’re the reason McCain is the nominee, NOT Evangelicals!

Providing us plenty of soap
One more came along
Singing his song
We frankly said “nope”

Oh shit the bed, I just realized I read that the wrong way. I’m sorry. Let me make something perfectly clear. Huckabee is a fucking pussy and he is completely irrelevant.
Oh hell I’m really mad at myself. I have to stop working 17 hour days.
winemkr on May 21, 2008 at 2:33 AM
If the joke was supposed to be that Obama didn’t know what a gun looked like, then why was the “punchline” that he dove for the floor when he saw one?

The ones you mention don’t have a political future. Huck does. Out of all of them, imo, he has the best chance of reforming/revising his message/approach, and coming back for round 2.

Huckaflea is over. He may apply for a job cleaning out the stalls for the mounts of those famous four horsemen.

I find it hilarious that Hot Air cares more about that stupid joke than Obama himself. The comments pretty much make it blantantly obvious that this is more about slamming Huck regardless of what he does than because of genuine outrage at some stupid joke. And for the record, I didn’t support anyone in the primary, so I’m no Huck fanboy. You guys are just way gone.

“Too bad the people who blew it up on the Internet weren’t as classy or calm as he was.” Huck
Yep…Huckabee understands, like I do, who is in part responsible for leaving us with a Democrat as the GOP nominee.
Camels, Needles, and Hot-Air.

Talking about hitting the nail on the head!
Darth, if Hot-Air (Allah, to be specific) and its commenters represent the prevailing attitude of the GOP, America is lost.

You’re right Darth. Making fun of Huck never fed one hungry child. You go girl!

I am happy to have helped with that Huckabee.
Having your class questioned by Huckabee is like eating a twelve (12) year old fruitcake… it leaves a lot of mixed flavors in the mouth, but mostly bitter…..
Geez you whiner, Huckabee!!! Get a life!!
In so many ways you are like Obama.. we can’t criticize you without you slamming us.. which is so much like all the stories from your time as governor.
You may have been able to intimidate your local state “Paul Revere’s” to keep quiet, but you cannot do that on a national basis, and if you haven’t learned that yet then you are a fool !
And that’s not a personal thing with you, it’s your actions that are disgusting. You should “slide back” to be an honorable and meek baptist preacher, than maybe you can gain some respect… because on a national political scene you are a goner.
I must go and drink something now to wash out the fruitcake taste.

If Huck’s supporters on HA are a valid sampling of his base, it shouldn’t be any surprise potential voters are turned off.

Acapella, you need some accompaniment. You’re off-key.
Don’t you realize that it’s the “presumptive” nominee that turns us all off? Don’t you realize…by demonizing GOOD men, we’re left with an unapologetic, openly liberal GOP POTUS candidate?
God help us!
Al-Ozarka on May 21, 2008 at 9:55 AM
Allah, are you going to allow people to use the type of vile, immature language that winemkr used at 2:33am? It’s disgusting. This is a public forum. Stop forcing me to view that junk as I read the comments.
If you don’t give warnings to people, this place will become like Daily Kos.

Ok, as I have nothing else to look forward to in a McCain administration other than Huckabee’s presence on the ticket, I feel I should make another case for the Huck.
Neocons, I know you’re out there…many of you are in hiding for all the stigma attached to your identity. Huck IS your man. Why? Send Huck to a Muslim country on a speech tour, you’ll have a war within 5 minutes. McCain will be completely blameless; he had to go after the country that took his Veep hostage.
Think of it this way; there is a very high probability that McCain will be a one term wonder. I’d rather see Huck get tarred with that brush and have him out for any future races; he’s going to be nothing but a distraction and troublemaker for any real candidates that we’re able to find. If the GOP hopes to recover from the upcoming debacle in the House and Senate, we need to get rid of backbencher primadonnas like Huckabee.

Never one to disappoint, it’s HotAir! Que the latest hit piece on Huckabee. Good. Now fade in with some snide, uninformed user comments. Ah. Excellent. Well boys, it appears our work here is done. Roll the credits and add a nice kissing sound with a photo of McCain’s butt on screen at the tail end. That’s a wrap!
Vaporman87 on May 21, 2008 at 2:28 PM
the conservative folks on HA fall into roughly three groups:
1. those who are happy to have McCain on the ticket. I venture to guess that is not a large group.
2. those who aren’t thrilled with McCain as nominee, who prefer Huckabee (either as veep, or in that prophetic senario, ontop of thhe ticket). This is a vocal but not a large group.
3. those who aren’t thrilled with McCain as a nominee, who see a Huckabee pick as the only way things could get any worse on the GOP ticket and make the 2008 election a disaster of Ragnarok proportions. This is the bulk of the commentariat.
Until Maverick picks a veep, the primaries ain’t over. so on we argue.
