Audio: The obligatory “Mark Levin calls Olbermann an enemy propagandist” post
posted at 8:53 pm on May 20, 2008 by Allahpundit
The inevitable retort to last night’s exercise in troop-supportin’ histrionics. I ask you, is it fair to refer to a man as a jihadi apologist simply because he scoffs at terror plots, describes the GOP as a terrorist organization, and marks the sixth anniversary of 9/11 by asserting that Al Qaeda isn’t as bad as Fox News? And to think, the Times is starting to wonder if MSNBC is hurting NBC’s brand. Settle in, turn up the volume, and click to listen.
Update: If the audio at Conservative Punk doesn’t work for you, Olby Watch has highlights.

I like how he, Olbermann, claimed he wasn’t smearing the troops but smearing the Pentagon instead. Good one, jackass.

One can only hope Olbermann is banished to some obsecure Air America station soon.
Sent in receintly that News Corp is applying pressure on GE to slam the hammer down on Olby for his disgusting politics

This guy is a jerk and a hack for the extreme liberal wing of the party. He is an apologist for the enemy. I can not stand that guy.

I thought this was an unusual attempt at a distinction. Given the fact that a lot of the people who work in the Pentagon are military people (aka troops) what did he mean. He should be more specific who he is maligning.
For example he could use pay grades. Olby could say all O-6s and above that agree with President Bush are war criminals. Seems like the staff NCOs and junior officers at the Pentagon shouldn’t be maligned for their duty station.
When people are being malicious I think they should be more precise. What is the point of insulting people if they don’t know they are being insulted.
Mormon Doc on May 20, 2008 at 9:06 PM
I’m second to none – a long list at that – in loathing Olbermann’s politics and journalism (but I repeat myself).
But he’s not an enemy sympathizer or is in alignment ideologically with the jihaddists. The best description would be that he’s an anti anti-terrorist much like the anti anti-communists on the left during the Cold War.
That is, he has the perverse view that the anti-terrorist policies of Bush et al. are more dangerous and wrong than the actions of the Islamists.
I can’t figure it out. To be sure, there’s legitimate questions that can be raised about the security measures taken after 9/11 (“Men are not angels” Madison warned us).
But to completely dismiss, as he does, the threat that emanates from radical Muslims is just nonsensical.
But then again, this is Keith Olbermann.

In the criminal justice system intent follows the bullet. If someone fires a gun at someone they intend to kill but hit someone else they are still guilty of attempted murder rather than the lesser offense of manslaughter.
So it is with Mr. Olbermann. He may not intend to support the jihaddist or any anti-American element but because of what he does he provides aid and comfort to the enemies of the United States. For that reason he is an enemy propagandist.
Mormon Doc on May 20, 2008 at 9:14 PM
Rant, point, cut 1, rant, rant, cut 3, point 2, cut 6. Come on Mark. There’s a methodology to this. First play cut 1, then cut 3, then tie them together, THEN rant. Ranting in between just loses your continuity of thought. It’s like chain of evidence, Mark. You should know that because you’re a lawyer.
Mark is on the right side of this, but jeez, make your case in a more logical fashion.

fossten on May 20, 2008 at 9:19 PM
Yes, but intent is critical if someone is claiming, as Levin does, that he is a deliberate “enemy propagandist.”
He may be reckless and foolish and, because of that, “dangerous” (I know, look at his ratings).
But without willfulness on his part, he’s just a fool who is unintentionally aiding our enemies.

If a Democrat wins the White House in November, Keef will be obsolete. So you might just get your wish.
His entire act is built upon bashing Republicans, especially those at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Without them to whine about, he’s irrelevant.

His intent is to hurt someone IMHO. One can only know the intent by looking into his heart. Since no one is able to do that but KO himself we must rely on his actions which betray his statements about loyalty to the troops.

In many ways Levin and Olberman deserve each other. They are both rooting for Obama. Olberman is just more honest about it.

Free Rock Concert Preceded Big Obama Rally in Portland
Hugh Hewitt just told me that right before Obama addressed that huge crowd in Portland, the indie rock band the Decemberists played a free 45-minute concert. Now, I’m sure Obama would draw a big crowd either way, but wasn’t that worth mentioning in the coverage?
From Wikipedia: “Named both in reference to the Russian Decembrist Revolt (which may explain its use of the National Anthem of the Soviet Union as an introduction at many concerts)…” Lovely.
I wonder if they played, “Sixteen Military Wives.” The video depicts a bully named “Henry Stowecroft” (Kissinger and Brent?) representing the United States in a grade school model United Nations who declares war on Luxembourg. I kid you not when I tell you the video begins with the bully putting on a flag pin.
from NRO Campaign Spot, Ace linked it
Just WOW
This is who Barry and his staff chose to help drum up that huge crowd in the People’s Republic of Oregon.
And people want to hand the White House to these people.
funky chicken on May 20, 2008 at 9:39 PM
‘Unusual’is a good word for it. Mind-bogglingly ignorant are two even better words for it. What American “journalist” doesn’t know that the Pentagon is populated by military personnel?
Maybe he thought that it was populated by only the SECDEF and his civilian staff. Or just flag officers (he probably doesn’t know what those are). Maybe…nah. Why try to figure out what such a person is thinking?

But the question is whether his intent is to help the Islamists.
He hates and wishes to weaken (hurt if you will) Bush et al.; but does that mean then that he favors all those others who also hate/wish to hurt/weaken Bush?
I say no.
Being against Bush and his policies doesn’t automatically mean one favors the Islamists.
Ack, I’m in the wonderful position of defending Keith Olbermann.
Just lovely.

Some conservatives are not willing to submit to the RNC open-borders candidate with nothing in return. Levin, like Rush, point out McCain’s liberalism. If that is offensive, get used to it
In the 1 in 100 chance that McCain wins, he will be crushed from the right when he pursues his liberal policies. Like the domestic RINOs Nixon and Bush, McCain will be vilified by the left and have no support from the base he screwed.

It’s called “The Presidential Election of 2000 Syndrome.”
The Democrats can’t get over it.
I understand how much they think Bush didn’t deserve to be president.
In a way it’s true if we take into account the popular vote.
But we chose that system of government and we have to live with it until we change it.
There should be a separation between the Military and decision-makers in D.C. when it comes to ranting.
Again, I understand how the Left feels, that attacking the Military is attacking those who give the orders.
But one should draw a line in the sand and we should distinguish between attacking the Military and aiding the enemy.
Obviously, some people lost their mind because of their extreme hate for George W. Bush.
I’m a not a Bush fan but I know where to stop.
I can rant about Bush all day long, but I respect and support the Military. Without the Military, there is no America. Believe it or not. It used to be the economy and the Military that made the greatness of America. Now it’s just the Military.
My advice to Olbermann is to use his colleague Chris Matthews as an example and start masturbating on air while playing clips of Bakaka Obaba.
It’s relaxing, will make him feel good and all the anger towards George W. Bush will dissipate in five minutes, depends on how fast he is.

No, Olby was doing the obvious. He was making a ham-fisted attempt at making it seem like he didn’t mean what he meant… alas. He IS an idiot, so of course in his attempt to say that he didn’t mean that he maligned the troops, he intended to malign those individuals who work in the pentagon.

Levin is just the other side of the coin of Olberman.
Both of them are extremists tools.
I’m a lower life form concerning Olberman because I don’t believe a hug will save the world.
I’m a lower life form concerning Levin because I like to think for myself.
What both of these “journalists” don’t understand is, the world is complicated.
Want to run out there and cure the world with a hug, or run out there work a scorched earth policy? Go ahead. Get busy with it, do the best you can.
But for the love of pete, both of you stop spouting your extremists views from the comfort of your climate controlled studio.

I’d like to commit to never listening to Levin again, but I’m sure something will come up that I’ll want to comment on. It’s like when I said I’d never vote for open borders McCain, but we know I’ll will. At least, I’m smart enough to not use “flip-flop” and “waffle” as political insults.

I have thought for years that the most serious mistake we on the right have been making is refusing – out of intimidation or good manners, it doesn’t matter – to speak plainly and truthfully about the nature of the Democrat opposition. Bravo, Mark Levin, for saying it out loud: they are enemy propagandists.

Yes, Halley, underestimating their domestic enemies while fighting a war on both fronts was the Bush administration’s most collossal mistake. As soon as leftist enemy sympathizers starting whining about their patriotism being called into question, their patriotism should have been called into question, forcefully and without embarrassment. It wasn’t, and we see results of this Marcus of Queensbury strategy every day.
