Video: Stop comparing candidates to Jesus, says Obama apostle

posted at 7:20 pm on May 19, 2008 by Allahpundit

Via the ‘Busters, whose “Hardball” obsession is as all-consuming and unhealthy as mine once was vis-a-vis “The View.” Is a man who once compared Bill Clinton, of all people, to “Jesus in the temple” and who’s since pronounced Barack Obama the “New Testament” of American politics really the guy to make this otherwise righteous, welcome point? Note to Chris: When you’re capable of making it through an Obama speech without reacting like someone at a Pentecostal revival, get back to me.

Blowback

NTWR on May 19, 2008 at 7:22 PM

He only objects when a Republican does it.

jgapinoy on May 19, 2008 at 7:23 PM

It worked fine for me.
I’d rather HA didn’t give leftist YouTube more traffic.

jgapinoy on May 19, 2008 at 7:23 PM

Matthews does have, er, a leg up on the competition when it comes to this topic.

T J Green on May 19, 2008 at 7:24 PM

Oh Good LORD. Chris needs to stay away from the Beatles and John Lenin as well as get on the Obama weight Loss diet!

upinak on May 19, 2008 at 7:26 PM

Hey, now! I go to a Pentecostal church!… but the only thrill I get down my leg is when I sit in one position too long and my foot falls asleep…

innominatus on May 19, 2008 at 7:26 PM

I picture a bunch of suits over at MSNBC discussing “why are we always last in the ratings? what are we doing wrong?”

JetBoy on May 19, 2008 at 7:33 PM

Um… Chris Matthews compared Bill Clinton to Jesus and won QUOTE OF THE YEAR!!

Hypocrisy!

Troika37 on May 19, 2008 at 7:35 PM

Can somebody explain this to me?

Why every time I see Chris Matthews, a picture of him and Obamba in a Kuma Sutra position come to mind?

And I’m talking about the one where the ceiling… never mind.

Indy Conservative on May 19, 2008 at 7:36 PM

Won’t play, as usual.

Whaddya mean “once was?”

And why can’t this site have a frickin’ obsession with something good like Nykola?

ScottMcC on May 19, 2008 at 7:37 PM

Chris… please show them how to walk on water..preferably from a short pier.

GoodBoy on May 19, 2008 at 7:40 PM

Somebody find me a payloader to gag myself with.

oakpack on May 19, 2008 at 7:44 PM

Chrissie would do well to drop by for a visit here now and then for the cold shower of reality. Then again, Humble Pie would taste bitter.

drjohn on May 19, 2008 at 7:45 PM

Do these people think there are no such things as video tapes?

Mormon Doc on May 19, 2008 at 7:46 PM

Matthews . . . blow it out your ear or the orifice of you choice. This dolt is a “been nowhere, done nothing” political parasite. Who, other than NBC would employ and pay this jackass?

rplat on May 19, 2008 at 7:46 PM

Redlasso? I love it…

How many syllables does “day” have, Chrissy?

mattshu on May 19, 2008 at 8:00 PM

“JFK is one of the flukes that got through the door. That’s why people worship him” -Chris Mathews

Hey there Chrissy. Lets cool it with the politician-as-deity meme.

No stalking my little blog-sister or I’ll have to beat you up. :-)

baldilocks on May 19, 2008 at 8:09 PM

I know this sounds and probably is sexist, but everytime I hear Matthews talk about Obama I think to myself, “God, he`s such a woman.”

ThePrez on May 19, 2008 at 8:35 PM

I didnt think anyone cared what matthews says any more, even dems…

SoCalInfidel on May 19, 2008 at 8:38 PM

Stop comparing candidates to Jesus — Chris Matthews

Have to agree with Chris on this one.

Maxx on May 19, 2008 at 8:48 PM

RedLasso bites.

HA HA HA !!!

Roger Waters on May 19, 2008 at 9:16 PM

Man, this guy is desperate to have his photo next to the word “douche” in the dictionary isn’t he? Don’t give up Chris, you’re certainly in the top 5 candidates for that post.

RightWinged on May 19, 2008 at 9:57 PM

It would be nice if I could watch the video. Red Lasso sucks.

Looks interesting. I love to see a smart person with humility. Thanks for the link.

You seem to miss the irony … somehow.

Jaibones on May 19, 2008 at 11:05 PM

…John Lenin…

upinak on May 19, 2008 at 7:26 PM

Heh. Was that on purpose?

misterpeasea on May 20, 2008 at 3:34 AM

typical liberal hypocrite.

ctmom on May 20, 2008 at 7:24 AM

Did you know after speaking in Oregon to a massive crowd of 75K, he actually walked across the adjacent lake to shake hands with those watching in their boats? Chrissy said so.

roninacreage on May 20, 2008 at 8:40 AM

Matthews knows a little sumth’n about being moved by “the spirit” and genuflecting before his political messiah.

Mr.Matthews meet Mr.Black Kettle.

moxie_neanderthal on May 20, 2008 at 8:58 AM

MSNBC has descended into “we’ll say anything for ratings” territory. Their credibility has been destroyed and this is just another example.

OT re RedLasso: On typical home cable modem/DSL or business-level connections, RedLasso works with very near 100% reliability and the quality is much higher than YouTube.

On a slower or less-reliable connection (like my alternative backup I’m occasionally forced to use) the video sometimes times out and gives an error message.

The problems experienced by users here may be due to individual connection speeds and consistencies. I wonder if most of the issues are experienced by dial-up or slower DSL users. ?

It’s as if they have no memory…they haven’t caught on that the internet forgets nothing…

right2bright on May 20, 2008 at 9:50 AM

If McCain is Jesus then Satan must be a disgruntled conservative that has been pigeonholed through bad party leadership, mischaracterizations by the MSM, and establishment @ss kissing by the Talk Radio and print outlets.

LevStrauss on May 20, 2008 at 10:40 AM

With a name like Barack hussein O’Jesus, it’s almost impossible not to make the connection. What’s he expect?

Akzed on May 20, 2008 at 11:00 AM

What!?!?! Another leftist with a selective memory? What do you expect from someone who was a speechwriter for four years during the administration of Jimmy Carter. He worked for Tip Oneil, Frank Moss and Edmund Muskie and thinks himself fair and objective. Yeah Chris, the same people that believe that would buy the Brooklyn Bridge.
