Maybe the volume of the clapping scared him because it reminded him of the imaginary gunfire that Michelle, on 60 Minutes, once said could erupt if he just went to tank up his car at a gas station, since he was a black man.

(<em>Or maybe several people in the audience were wearing a flag pins and he transmuted his survival of that collective trauma into a display of courage</em>.)

<strong>Lightfoot Barry</strong> lies again.

I give him a pass on this one. Nobody fainted in Detroit, nobody wet their pants or required oxygen or medical attention, so he must have felt like his speech missed the mark. I can see how he would remember it the way he did.

There seems to be a belief that you can still tell one group one thing and another group something else.

No more. The 'net and Youtube put paid to that. Not to mention Hot Air.

You had better measure your words carefully and maintain consistent policies or you're going to get burnt.

<blockquote> ... he was talking to an audience of supporters, not car-manufacturer executives. Obama also was couching the mandates as an exchange for some hefty corporate welfare, actually closer to a de facto tradeoff for government-run health care. That’s not exactly a Profile in Courage, and it’s not surprising that he got a standing ovation rather than chirping crickets.
The Obama Ovation is campaign-trail exaggeration — certainly fair game for criticism, but it ain’t a Tuzla Dash by a long shot.

Ed</blockquote>

Ah...the Allah effect! Ed makes a clear and sound argument that this story by Obambi is completely manufactured, and misrepresents not only the response to his comments - which he does, egregiously - but in fact the entire scenario. They are his knob-polishing worshippers, not some hard-bitten auto exec crowd.

And the, in conclusion, Ed asserts that it's really no big deal. Good grief. No wonder the MSM thinks they can completely white-wash everything he says.

Guy's a lying, pandering politician, with multi-culti skin and a Harvard degree.

Yes, and he's aghast that Pres Bush would suggest that talking to state-sponsors of terror is a bad idea. Obama never said that, and even though video of a debate shows he did, it isn't a bad idea, but he's still adamant that he wouldn't have said such a bad idea...

blahblahblahblah

This guy's greatest trait isn't his charisma or speaking ability (anything presented en masse in the wake of GWB is refreshing and amazing). No, his greatest asset is his ability to pander.

What strikes me is that he is promising a "Health Care deal" if they produce more efficient cars. Making deals with Health Care now are we? Health Care as a bribe?

It is patently ridiculous to believe that companies with unionized workers and TENS of MILLIONS of workers can't do better on their own. What he is really saying is we will authorize you to offer sub-standard Health Care.

Worse, this "universal" Health Care will be unequal Health Care. Will automakers pay less for the Government plan? Will we have to pay more to make up the difference?

These jokers are just making it up as they go along.

Sorry, Ed,..not even close to the Tuzla dash because the MSM doesn't want it to be. Barry's got much bigger skeletons lurking than this one, but I'm not even sure voters care any more. Breaking up is hard to do.

All this shows is that Comrade Obama will say anything, do anything or morph into whatever form he needs to obtain his goal. This is simply normal, everyday pandering to the lumpen proletariat.

Unless Republicans wake up (doubtful) and get somebody with solid, conservative credentials to off set John McCain (equally doubtful), we're looking at the next President of the People's Republic of America.

The BIG LIE here is that Detroit is somehow in cahoots with Big Oil to deny you a "fuel efficient" car, and only by government badgering do they leak out small increments of improved fuel economy. What a crock.

There are two ways Detroit is going to fulfil fuel economy mandates: smaller, weaker engines and lighter cars. Nobody likes weak engines, so they don't buy them. Lighter cars tend to kill people when they crash.

I would love to hear someone with an (R) behind their name get up tell the folks that their government is going to accept more highway deaths so we can save some oil. That's exactly what CAFE standards bring.
