The Obama Ovation is campaign-trail exaggeration — certainly fair game for criticism, but it ain’t a Tuzla Dash by a long shot.

Ed makes a clear and sound argument that this story by Obambi is completely manufactured, and misrepresents not only the response to his comments – which he does, egregiously – but in fact the entire scenario. They are his knob-polishing worshippers, not some hard-bitten auto exec crowd.

This guy’s greatest trait isn’t his charisma or speaking ability (anything presented en masse in the wake of GWB is refreshing and amazing). No, his greatest asset is his ability to pander.

It is patently ridiculous to believe that companies with unionized workers and TENS of MILLIONS of workers can’t do better on their own. What he is really saying is we will authorize you to offer sub-standard Health Care.

Worse, this “universal” Health Care will be unequal Health Care. Will automakers pay less for the Government plan? Will we have to pay more to make up the difference?

These jokers are just making it up as they go along.

Unless Republicans wake up (doubtful) and get somebody with solid, conservative credentials to off set John McCain (equally doubtful), we’re looking at the next President of the People’s Republic of America.

There are two ways Detroit is going to fulfil fuel economy mandates: smaller, weaker engines and lighter cars. Nobody likes weak engines, so they don’t buy them. Lighter cars tend to kill people when they crash.

I would love to hear someone with an (R) behind their name get up tell the folks that their government is going to accept more highway deaths so we can save some oil. That’s exactly what CAFE standards bring.
