Andrea Mitchell: Hillary camp “acknowledges it’s over”

posted at 11:15 am on May 16, 2008 by Ed Morrissey

Bad news, Chaosters — it looks like Hillary Clinton will throw in the towel before the convention. According to Andrea Mitchell at MS-NBC, the big loss in North Carolina and the narrow win in Indiana has convinced even the Clintons that they just can’t get to the nomination. Mitchell says that Team Hillary is just “going through the motions”:

Mitchell must have heard this from fairly high-level sources in the Clinton camp, but it begs the question: why bother running out the string? If Hillary thinks it’s over, then wouldn’t it make more sense to cut a deal to eliminate her campaign debt and endorse Barack Obama? Perhaps Hillary isn’t the Clinton that needs convincing.

If Mitchell has this right, Hillary’s out by June 4th. After that, expect to see her shilling for the man whom she said only offered a “good speech” as opposed to the life experience of John McCain. It won’t be the biggest twist we’ve seen from a Clinton, but it will be one of the more entertaining.

Until I see a stake through their hearts pinning both Clinton’s to the ground and the sun coming up blowing their ashes in all directions, the Count and Countess live!

2012…….

Sounds like wishful thinking, again, from the MSM.

I figure the MSM spends their afternoons out on their verandas clutching crystals and trying to chant Hillary out of the race. But it still hasn’t happened yet.

Ohhh — you cursed brat! Look what you’ve
done! I’m melting! Melting! Oh — what a
world — what a world! Who would have
thought a good little girl like you could
destroy my beautiful wickedness!? Ohhh!
Look out! Look out! I’m going. Ohhhh!
Ohhhhhh….

Why stay?

The Gnaeus Pompeius Magnus strategy….she will be able to threaten the new Pres from the Senate floor….

‘All I have to do is stamp my foot on the ground to gather an Army’

(I still think she would take VP…just don’t know if Barry will offer)

Who, andrea? I don’t trust the msm with anonymous sources since their motives and adenda are so clear. They are no more credible then the stories fascists like reid, clinton and gephardt tell about their anonymous freinds. I am 100% convinced that 9 out of 10 time the anonymous sources are just made up.

peacenprosperity on May 16, 2008 at 11:27 AM

She’ll pay lip service to the Great Appeaser, offer tepid support, go through the motions, then fire up the Pansuit 2012 campaign next January after the anointed one gets his doors blown off in November.

JammieWearingFool on May 16, 2008 at 11:27 AM

I feel sorry for Hillary.

…No wait. I don’t.

Rhinoboy on May 16, 2008 at 11:28 AM

This IS MSNBC, the O network. This may be a story of desire more than a story of fact.

Spirit of 1776 on May 16, 2008 at 11:30 AM

Anything anyone on MSNBC says from an unnamed ‘source’ that is disparaging to Hillary needs to be taken with a large grain of… no, make that the entirety of the Bonneville Salt Flats.

TC@LeatherPenguin on May 16, 2008 at 11:34 AM

You sure they’re not just engaged in some wishful thinking there?

irishspy on May 16, 2008 at 11:35 AM

Hillary Clinton is just one Obama gaffe away from getting the nomination. There is also speculation that Clinton has dirt on Obama that would start that ball rolling.

I don’t know if any of the above rumor is true but it is just as plausible as MSNBC being right about anything!

I’ve a friend, an earnest young woman who is a frosh at Cal, who will be very disappointed when HRC tanks. It’s a woman, thing, ya know? Dunno if she’ll throw her vote to BO when it happens or not. She classifies herself as “very liberal,” so I’d assume she’s not voting for McCain.

But you never know.

PROPAGANDA! Making up the news now are we MSNBC?

Like that headline “Obama to address Bush ‘Nazi’ comments today”. Any excuse to get Bush and Nazi in the same headline.

I don’t believe Bush mentioned Obama, Democrats, American politicians, or any Americans in his speech. Couldn’t he have been talking about the French?

Bush: “…some seem to believe”

Me thinks thou doth protest to much.

Yeh, I’m sure the Clintonistas tossed a bone to the Obama-lovers over at MSDNC.

Hill quit? Uh-uh

Barry and Michsweetie offer her the VP slot? Double uh-uh

Great news organization there – they report – we question whether or not what they say is true. haha, way to go “news” channel.

scalleywag on May 16, 2008 at 12:17 PM

Hillary’s so screwed. She’s gonna have to put on a new false peity about the sacred commitment democrats have to racial equality, but every time she does, it will only emphasize that democrats are trashy race baiters whose first “black president” bitched that even Jesse Jackson, wink, wink, won South Carolina.

Andrea Mitchell at MS-NBC ≠ Fact Checking and Accuracy

Kini on May 16, 2008 at 12:25 PM

Let’s face the facts – Operation Chaos failed because McCain keeps on opening his mouth, depressing his constituents.

Get used to President Obama. God help us all….

Dr. Gecko on May 16, 2008 at 12:29 PM

I won’t believe it until it’s a done deal.

But I do get a thrill up my leg just thinking about a defeated Hillary.

Does a withdrawal by Hillary after the primaries do anything to diminish her chances at the convention if Obama suddenly tanks? I think it does the opposite. Makes her much more appealing to the Obama supporters if he needs to be stacked in that large pile of bodies under the bus.

It’s a big ‘if.’ But should it happen, we will see some interesting dissembling in the form of forced and thoroughly phony enthusiasm for the candidate she desperately hopes will be defeated, so that she can resurrect her dream in 2012.

Maybe Imam Obama will send BJ to the UN where he can get in on the international market for “inappropriate conduct.”
