Ed Morrissey at Hot Air has brought out what should be Obama's next ad for Kentucky's Primary. I'm with Ed; why should Barack stop at his current advertising? Why not go full messiah? One word of advise for Barack Obama....

Ed,
I forgot to share my poem with you during the media's coverage of West Virginia. Thinking about the media's crass treatment of yet another group of Applachian savages; this poem seems appropriate.

With apologies to Rudyard Kipling the poet; here is my reworded version of his poem “the White Man’s Burden* which praised the “benefits” of colonialism. The new “Sahib” or “Bwanna” is our left-wing media and their cronies out to correct(deconstruct)those vulgar Appalachian savages from their “unenlightened” worldview:

The Left Wing’s Burden

Take up the Left wing’s burden
Send forth the same old breed --
Go bind your journalists to brief exile
 To serve your hillbillies’ need;
To wait away from starbucks
On fluttered folk and wild --
Your captive, sullen peoples,
 Half devil and half child.

Take up the Left-Wing’s burden --
 In condescension to abide,
To veil the threat of exposure
 And hide evidence of pride;
By duplicitous speech and lies,
 An hundred times mad plain.
To take another's profit,
 And steal another's gain.

Take up the Left-wing’s burden --
 Our savage campaigns for “peace”
Shut down those coarse distractions
 And bid “bitter” ignorance cease;
And when your goal is nearest
 The presidency for others sought,
Watch guns and Small-town Folly
Bring all your hope to nought.

Take up the Left wing’s burden --
 And reap an entitled reward:
The blame of those ye enlighten,
The hate of those you deconstruct
The vulgar cry of the working class ye condescend
(Ah, slowly!) toward the light: --
"Why brought ye us from bondage,
 "Our loved Appalachian night?"

Take up the Left-wings burden --
Ye distort what Obama meant --
Nor call too loud on freedom
 To cloak your true intent;
By all ye preach or publish,
By all ye leave or do,
The silent, sullen peoples
Shall weigh your party and you.

Ragnell

Explaination re: Kentucky's regionalism:

Northern Kentucky is a cultural and social suburb of Cincinnati.

Eastern Kentucky is Appalachian culture, Western Kentucky is part of the Nashville culture.

Louisville, Lexington (and the extended metropolitan areas including their satellite cities) are a distinct mix of southern Atlanta/Charlestown,SC/Richmond,Va-style cultures(very -British colonials)

Obama's campaign staff has not done their homework on Kentuckians. In particular, Kentucky's distinct, cultural regionalism. Also, their assumption that a religious culture is easily duped by cheap imitations.

That silly, tacky flier is a good example of what results from acting on stereotypes instead of making an effort to get to know a group of people.

Prediction: This insult will backfire; big time

Obama should have been a minister, not a Senator. After having read the article in the Quote of the Day, it becomes painfully apparent that Obama is manipulating all the tools of the clergy- the words, the guilt- to enrapture the flock.

<blockquote>Ed, get one of those small mouthpieces that your dentist custom molds to keep you from grinding your teeth. It’s well worth the $450. I use one when I sleep.

I have a bite splint too, but since I was recently diagnosed with sleep apnea and have to use a Darth Vader sound effect machine (CPAP) to get my first real sleep in years, I haven't become comfortable enough with the idea of attaching stuff to both my mouth and my nose at the same time to attempt to sleep with that arrangement.

Besides, I think I was grinding my teeth more during the day than at night...it's hard to clench your jaw if you're snoring.

<blockquote>I’m afraid I don’t find this funny. It’s way too close to what’s going on with the Obambi worshippers.

It’s arguable that he’s unelectable, but I don’t think we’ve seen this kind of phenomenon before. It’s a new, and scary, ballgame.

Would you be surprised to hear him saying, “Have faith”?

You are right, it's not funny if you think about it. It's extremely creepy, and I can only hope and pray that the majority of voters will come to their senses by November.

Loved this comment from pajamasmedia.com:

<blockquote>cfbleachers:
The issue that concerns me is the comfort that Sen. Obama has with some very extremist worldviews.

He has a comfort with Frank Marshall Davis’ worldview, to the extent that he held the man in high esteem. In isolation, that’s not determinative, but in combination with other factors begins to paint a picture.

He has a comfort with Jeremiah Wright’s worldview, to the extent that he held the man in high esteem. This is quite disturbing. The embrace that Sen. Obama wrapped around Jeremiah Wright was not fleeting or casual. I would not embrace David Duke, and would view anyone who did with a jaundiced eye. I find Jeremiah Wright’s worldview as disgraceful and repulsive as David Duke’s.

He appears to have had a comfort with Rashid Khalidi, Ali Abunimah, Edward Said worldview, to the extent that he held these men in high esteem. That is quite disturbing. I am a staunch defender of Israel as an ally and believe she is constantly picked on by a combination of leftists, Islamo-fascists, and Farrakhan/Wright types who slander her repeatedly.

He seems quite comfortable with the Nation of Islam, to the extent that he utilizes members of that group in his highest staff postions. This is not suspect in the South Side of Chicago, but it does give any rational person pause…when the similarities between Wright and Farrakhan are examined more closely.

He seems quite comfortable with the extreme radical worldview of Ayers and Dorhn and their ilk. I’m sorry, but there is a point where traditional liberalism ends and anarchy begins. I consider Ayers and Dorhn treasonous, seditious, and they are no more my countrymen than Osama Bin Laden. Their worldview is one intending to bring down this government and I have absolutely no use for their extremist goals.

Let’s not be coy or disingenuous. Sen. Obama has been extremely cozy and comfortable surrounded by some of the most virulent anti-America and anti-Israel voices that exist.

He has embraced the holders of worldviews which are antithetical to what is normally considered within the bounds of patriotic discourse and within the range of reason and rational thought.

When you combine that with the small things that send up a signal flare (discomfort with a flag lapel pin, accusing middle America of “clinging” to religion, Michelle’s description of America as angry, mean, slothful, the request to abandon corporate America et al)…the picture that is painted is one of someone who is closer to Michael Moore than to John F. Kennedy.

Moore lacks charm and charisma and is basically a slob who is willing to put his lies on screen. Sen. Obama is a gifted orator who hides his embrace of extremism behind the shroud of pedantic smugness. He is “above” all these “distractions”.

Well, I’m sorry…but, if he is not willing to confront his own leanings and embraces…then he simply is someone who wishes to run on personality, not principle. And that is fine in high school, but not for the the most powerful position in the world.

I don't think this ad is going to help him much with the bitter folks of Kentucky, who do still believe in quaint concepts like choosing your friends wisely and attending nice churches.

May 15, 2008 – 1:30 pm

I don’t think this ad is going to help him much with the bitter folks of Kentucky, who do still believe in quaint concepts like choosing your friends wisely and attending nice churches.

I'm afraid I don't find this funny. It's way too close to what's going on with the Obambi worshippers.

It's arguable that he's unelectable, but I don't think we've seen this kind of phenomenon before. It's a new, and scary, ballgame.

Would you be surprised to hear him saying, "Have faith"?
