Um, he did. In 2006. For his role as an undead zombie manservant in “Fido,” a role he could have resurrected for an X-Files movie.

When a group of women are abducted in the wintry hills of rural Virginia, the only clues to their disappearance are the grotesque human remains that begin to turn up in snow banks along the highway. With officials desperate for any lead, a disgraced priest’s questionable “visions” send local police on a wild goose chase and straight to a bizarre secret medical experiment that may or may not be connected to the women’s disappearance. It’s a case right out of The X-Files. But the FBI closed down its investigations into the paranormal years ago. And the best team for the job is ex-agents Fox Mulder and Dr. Dana Scully, who have no desire to revisit their dark past. Still, the truth of these horrific crimes is out there somewhere…and it will take Mulder and Scully to find it!

Personally, I always like the stand alone episodes that had nothing to do with the overall conspiracy.

Me too. Like the one with the genie who granted wishes to stupid people, but always with a sadistic twist. Mulder eventually wishes that she get her wish, which is to spend the rest of her life people-watching and sipping coffee. Or something. That was cool.

Or the fantastic episode about the blind girl (played by the awesome Lili Taylor) who “saw” her criminal dad’s crimes and eventually killed him. But got sick of the conspiracy thingy taking over the series so I stopped watching.

Mehhh.

The creepiest episode ever was the 3 inbred brothers living the in the farm house with their “torso” mother on a sliding cart under the bed. They took turns romancing her.

Best. Evah.

My wife still has nightmares about that one. Seriously.

In another episode, Mulder and Scully are investigating deaths near a carnival side/freak show. It’s early in the morning and Scully, dressed only in a robe, bumps into a guy, also dressed only in a robe. The robes loosen slightly, exposing his little brother (an actual sibling, not a euphemism) growing out of his chest, and the side of her breast. They both just stand there, riveted, and staring at the other’s exposed body.

I believe that episode was Humbug….one of their best.

One episode concerned an army of little robot cockroaches. At one point, just at random, they ran a little cockroach accross the screen, so it looked like you actually had a roach in your house and on your TV. My wife jumped out of her skin.

I’m the opposite. I was deep into the show, bordering on obsessive, but it got too scattered and I stopped caring, especially after Mulder left.

Monster of the week epidsodes kicked the mythlogy’s a**. My favorite was the vampire colony that moved around in mobile homes. Luke Wilson played a sherriff in that episode. It was hysterical.

The commenter with the collie; I hope you gave a hat tip to Jonah Goldberg at some point; he was using his couch and his dog Cosmo in a similar capacity some years ago when he was writing G-files for National Review Online shortly after they started up. It’s a good bit but it’s been done before. Look for an interview Cosmo did with Pervez Musharraf and Kim Jong Il.
