<blockquote>Ugh, Billy Connelly. Definitely NOT going to see this now or ever. Is he ever going to get a haircut?

Bill Brasky on May 14, 2008 at 3:16 PM</blockquote>

Um, he did. In 2006. For his role as an undead zombie manservant in "<a href="http://www.fidothefilm.com/" rel="nofollow">Fido</a>," a role he could have resurrected for an X-Files movie.

Oh, I'm so there. I'm an X-Files tragic from the beginning and I've just started watching Season 8 on DVD which I'm beginning to warm to. According to the back cover blurb of the movie novelization the film plot is as follows:
<blockquote>When a group of women are abducted in the wintry hills of rural Virginia, the only clues to their disappearance are the grotesque human remains that begin to turn up in snow banks along the highway. With officials desperate for any lead, a disgraced priest’s questionable “visions” send local police on a wild goose chase and straight to a bizarre secret medical experiment that may or may not be connected to the women’s disappearance. It’s a case right out of The X-Files. But the FBI closed down its investigations into the paranormal years ago. And the best team for the job is ex-agents Fox Mulder and Dr. Dana Scully, who have no desire to revisit their dark past. Still, the truth of these horrific crimes is out there somewhere...and it will take Mulder and Scully to find it!</blockquote>

I was a huge X Files fan and will definitely go watch this one, even though the trailer isn't particularly enticing.

Hey Allah, btw. Scully is the ultimate beta male ass-tap.

BILLY CONNELLY! The first X-files thing I ever pay attention to? Probably not, but that makes it a tad better. I wonder if one of the Patrick brothers (yes, can't remember his first name) will be in it too

Scully still looks hawt.

Ok, explain me this mystery. Gillian Anderson = Not Hot, but Dana Scully = Hot. Why is this?

Maybe there is something to this personality and brains thing. . . or is it the gun?

P.S. Billy Connelly?

<blockquote>Personally, I always like the stand alone episodes that had nothing to do with the overall conspiracy.

Lance Murdock on May 14, 2008 at 2:30 PM</blockquote>

Me too. Like the one with the genie who granted wishes to stupid people, but always with a sadistic twist. Mulder eventually wishes that she get her wish, which is to spend the rest of her life people-watching and sipping coffee. Or something. That was cool.

Or the fantastic episode about the blind girl (played by the awesome Lili Taylor) who "saw" her criminal dad's crimes and eventually killed him. But got sick of the conspiracy thingy taking over the series so I stopped watching.

Mehhh.

The creepiest episode ever was the 3 inbred brothers living the in the farm house with their “torso” mother on a sliding cart under the bed. They took turns romancing her.

Best. Evah.

I also liked the episode where the lake monster (actually a large alligator) eats Scully's dog. The scene in that episode where they sink their boat and end up stranded on a rock is absolutely classic.

<blockquote>In another episode, Mulder and Scully are investigating deaths near a carnival side/freak show. It’s early in the morning and Scully, dressed only in a robe, bumps into a guy, also dressed only in a robe. The robes loosen slightly, exposing his little brother (an actual sibling, not a euphemism) growing out of his chest, and the side of her breast. They both just stand there, riveted, and staring at the other’s exposed body.</blockquote>

I believe that episode was Humbug....one of their best.

I liked both the mythology and monster episodes, although I think they bumped off "Deep Throat" too early. Two scenes come to mind from the monster of the week genre.

One episode concerned an army of little robot cockroaches. At one point, just at random, they ran a little cockroach accross the screen, so it looked like you actually had a roach in your house and on your TV. My wife jumped out of her skin.

I liked both the mythology and monster episodes, although I think they bumped off “Deep Throat” too early. Two scenes come to mind from the monster of the week genre.

One episode concerned an army of little robot cockroaches. At one point, just at random, they ran a little cockroach accross the screen, so it looked like you actually had a roach in your house and on your TV. My wife jumped out of her skin.

In another episode, Mulder and Scully are investigating deaths near a carnival side/freak show. It’s early in the morning and Scully, dressed only in a robe, bumps into a guy, also dressed only in a robe. The robes loosen slightly, exposing his little brother (an actual sibling, not a euphemism) growing out of his chest, and the side of her breast. They both just stand there, riveted, and staring at the other’s exposed body.

Is that "Leoben" from Battlestar Galactica?

I figured out the plot. A remake of Battlestar 1980. How the Cylons colonize the Earth with 6 billion new humans to play with.

I'm the opposite. I was deep into the show, bordering on obsessive, but it got too scattered and I stopped caring, especially after Mulder left.

I loved watching the X-Files back in the 1990's. It was a really creative and interesting show to watch. The problem is the effect it had on any weak-minded, conspiracy theorist type since it stop airing long ago. Star Wars had it groupies, Star Trek had it's Trekkies. Unfortunately, I think X-Files had a profound effect on every paranoid (Code Pink, Bush-haters), conspiracy driven (9/11 truthers), irrational & egocentric Fox Mulder wannabe out there who the showed inspired to be even more crazier than they already were. I'm not a "trust the government" guy, but the extend that show emboldened and empowered is off the chart.

Ok, I'm a lot more bothered by Mulder's mop than Scully's long hair. Trailer was kinda..lame. I think the knock off fake drama trailer on you tube of <em>When Harry Met Sally</em> was actually scarier.

Monster of the week epidsodes kicked the mythlogy's a**. My favorite was the vampire colony that moved around in mobile homes. Luke Wilson played a sherriff in that episode. It was hysterical.

The commenter with the collie; I hope you gave a hat tip to Jonah Goldberg at some point; he was using his couch and his dog Cosmo in a similar capacity some years ago when he was writing G-files for National Review Online shortly after they started up. It's a good bit but it's been done before. Look for an interview Cosmo did with Pervez Musharraf and Kim Jong Il.

<blockquote>The creepiest episode ever was the 3 inbred brothers living the in the farm house with their “torso” mother on a sliding cart under the bed. They took turns romancing her.</blockquote>

Hey, just when I had completely suppressed that episode from my memory, you bring it up again. That's another good night's sleep I'm never gonna get back.

I wanna know what the collie thinks.
