Video: Chris Matthews darned tired of being Terry McAuliffe’s punching bag

Two clips for this one, the first the set-up and the second the proof of what happens when a man is pushed to his limit. Anyone believe Matthews’s defense here? The media does have a conflict of interest at the moment vis-a-vis Hillary’s tenacity between what’s good for their party and what’s good for their profession, but it beggars belief to think they’ve chosen the latter over the former, particularly on MSNBC. Sure, they’d love a knock-down, drag-out fight at the convention, just not enough to detonate the dearly held prospect of a Democratic president. Consider it a microcosmic refutation of Obama’s own “what’s the matter with Kansas?” assumptions about political priorities: It’s not always economics that come first.
Exit question: If he’s so hot for a Hillary resurgence and summer slugfest to Denver, why’d he spend time preemptively dismissing her victory yesterday as the residue of segregation?

CM is a liar…he wants it over, he feels that special something up his leg.
CM is ultra sensitive, and ultra defensive.
right2bright on May 14, 2008 at 1:12 PM
Really Chris? Did you miss KO saying Hillary Clinton + [someone] should go into a hotel room and only [someone] should come out? Give me a break.
Spirit of 1776 on May 14, 2008 at 1:15 PM
What mindless drones actually tune their TV’s to this drivel?
peski on May 14, 2008 at 1:16 PM
Nothing like a little Dem on Dem cat-fight! RRRROWW!!! HISSS!! Both of ‘em are pantywaists.
robblefarian on May 14, 2008 at 1:17 PM
I don’t know about that, But I found many lines of the speech chinchillian.
Soft on the issues and dense of logic.
wise_man on May 14, 2008 at 1:19 PM
It’s about time someone punches Matthews out.
Blake on May 14, 2008 at 1:20 PM
Chris Matthews: You are unbelievable. This is the book interview from hell. This is the worst interview I’ve ever had in my life. This is the worst. You are the worst. I thought you were so big, you weren’t afraid of me.
Jon Stewart: I’m not…
CM: …Okay. This is a book about good values, it’s a – it’s hopeless with you! You’re Zell Miller!
Jon Stewart: No. No duels for me.

There’s really only one thing that needs to be said.
ninjapirate on May 14, 2008 at 1:24 PM
Apparently, Allahpundit does…
Rick on May 14, 2008 at 1:26 PM
Thats outstanding, ninjapirate.
I went to that website (the one shown at the bottom) and saw the same thing on the right banner, with an alternate version above it. That one was even better!
wise_man on May 14, 2008 at 1:29 PM
He does, so we don’t have to, Rick.
I know I sure don’t want to tune into MSNBC unless it’s something worth watching - that exposes their bias and hypocrisy.
wise_man on May 14, 2008 at 1:31 PM
Punk vs. Pansy.
Rhinoboy on May 14, 2008 at 1:34 PM
Dueling, Socialist apparatchiks. As this country swirls down the drain into Socialism.
de Tocqueville warned of it: beware the tyranny of the majority. The American majority is now Socialist - and our country is lost.
OhEssYouCowboys on May 14, 2008 at 1:38 PM
I know, I was just throwing a little sarcasm at the deity of the blogosphere.
Rick on May 14, 2008 at 1:40 PM
Which one is the punk, and which one is the pansy?
Rick on May 14, 2008 at 1:43 PM
You should include an OLBERMANN WARNING.
Terry should be selling Rovco Chinch Ranches, where you can grow and harvest your own fur.

Giggling Pussy vs The Punk
Texyank on May 14, 2008 at 1:59 PM
Terry the Punk ripped Chrissy a new one yesterday morning on Scarborough’s Morning Joe program.
Chissy was filling in for Joe and co-hosting with Mika. Mika went live to McAuliffe and opened up the dialogue by saying Matthews was by her side and couldn’t wait to ask him a few questions.
To which McAuliffe replied, “Oh good, I can’t wait to hear from Obama’s biggest supporter”.
Doh! Punked by the Punk.
And another thing, what’s with Matthews and the folding of his arms across his chest? Standing up, sitting down, walking across the room, the dude always has his arms crossed. I think he’s hiding his man-boobs.
fogw on May 14, 2008 at 2:02 PM
Two moments in Terry McAuliffe’s life that made me admire rather than despise him:
1) Talking with Sean Hannity after getting spanked in an election:
Hannity: “Terry, you said last week it was no contest. You said you were going to win. You said it was not even close”.
Terry to Hannity: “Well, what did you expect me to say?”
2) Throwing the “thrill up his leg” back into Matthew’s face.
Marcus on May 14, 2008 at 2:02 PM
Uhhhh……..that laugh….
timmo on May 14, 2008 at 2:02 PM
Yeah,,,that laugh makes my skin crawl.

Check this out:

Gore Vidal’s play turned into a movie starring Henry Fonda and Cliff Robertson has many parallels to 2008.
Chris Matthews is a blowhard, but he is right when he says that the media who follow politics want to see an exciting convention. So do I-one where both Ob & Cl have to fight it out for every delegate. How does “The Duel in Denver” sound?
Doug on May 14, 2008 at 2:11 PM
I keep thinking that McAuliffe should have responded to Matthews using Joe Pesci’s voice (like the time when he told off De Niro in Casino).
Richard Romano on May 14, 2008 at 2:12 PM
Yet another reason why MSNBC is practically dead last in the ratings. It’s getting to the place where you wonder why the FCC is allowing this network to waste good air time.
pilamaye on May 14, 2008 at 2:12 PM
McAwful could do a decent Dick Vitale impression if he shaved his head.
Valiant on May 14, 2008 at 2:17 PM
That made my day. I can’t stand either “human being,” but watching Chris Matthews squirm was GREAT, and to watch the former head of the DNC do it to him….cherry on top. Only way it could have been better woulda been if Terry would’ve said that Hillary got more fair coverage on FOX.
scottm on May 14, 2008 at 2:22 PM
Fogw, it’s a strange day when I root for McAuliffe, the scoundrel, but I do.
Entelechy on May 14, 2008 at 2:23 PM
Matthews has taken lessons from Hillary’s cackle.
abinitioadinfinitum on May 14, 2008 at 2:23 PM
I absolutely loathe Terry, but that chill up the leg comment is comedy GOLD!!!
Tim Zank on May 14, 2008 at 2:28 PM
anyone else think that CM’s laugh was similar to Peter’s of Family Guy?
MNDavenotPC on May 14, 2008 at 2:34 PM
I think Chrissy even offends bags filled with douche water and /or scum. When he speaks he sends a tingle to the back of my gag reflex.
Claypigeon on May 14, 2008 at 2:44 PM
I think Chris had a dog humping his leg when he got that thrill.
TimothyJ on May 14, 2008 at 3:07 PM
That doesn’t sound very conservative!
freakagriep on May 14, 2008 at 3:07 PM
Never trust a man who bleaches his hair.
AZCoyote on May 14, 2008 at 3:24 PM
“Has no interest in an ending?”
Yet he thinks Hillary should get out?
Matthews is an idiot.
A damned idiot.
And a liar.
drjohn on May 14, 2008 at 3:32 PM
Did anyone else notice that Matthews’s pants were smoking. I think I even some some flames around his pant legs.
jukin on May 14, 2008 at 3:42 PM
Is Chwissy Matthews an alcoholic?
Hilts on May 14, 2008 at 4:12 PM
Dork.
Matthews too.
Black Adam on May 14, 2008 at 4:15 PM
Wow did TM ever get under CM’s skin with that “leg” comment. Jeez, Chrissy is the “lady that doth protest too much.”
I’m stunned at how childish somebody can act on TV. It’s truly breathtaking.
fossten on May 14, 2008 at 4:15 PM
I think Chrissy was giggling because Olbermann was playing “Chicken” with him under the table.
Squarestate on May 14, 2008 at 4:41 PM

“Golden oldie”? It was a month ago. What a p—y Matthews is
LtE126 on May 14, 2008 at 6:20 PM
Ha! I guess it works both ways, now that you mention it…
Rhinoboy on May 14, 2008 at 6:21 PM
Why does Matthews DROOL constantly when he opens his mouth to speak Liberal Jibberish…?
He should have that “Anti-Armpit-Sweating” surgery on his salivatory glands…….
awesum on May 14, 2008 at 9:17 PM
Sometimes old Terry sounds like a WWF thug yelling into the mic like that.

Does Matthews hand out spit-guards when he talks to folks? If not, he should. Matthews is a weird freak of nature.
MsUnderestimated on May 14, 2008 at 11:21 PM
I just watched the videos “You are arguing with no one, with no one” - - Chris Matthews
Perfect. He described himself to perfection…and throughout Chris lied through his
legteeth.Entelechy on May 15, 2008 at 1:13 AM
