The obligatory photo. The last time he wore one was at a rally in Pennsylvania when a disabled vet put him on the spot by handing one to him. Congrats, Barry: The issue you manufactured is now of sufficient interest to the media that this idiocy actually qualifies as newsworthy.
Barack Obama, who labeled discussion of whether he wears a flag pin in his lapel a false issue in a debate with Hillary Clinton, was wearing one Monday as he campaigned in West Virginia ahead of Tuesday’s primary vote there.
Obama made no reference to the pin, which could be clearly seen in television images and through telephoto lenses as he spoke in Charleston, W. Va., about veterans issue. There was no public comment from his campaign…
Although Obama sometimes wears the pin, more often he doesn’t. And he’s long insisted on being a different kind of politician who doesn’t resort to gimmicks or give in to pressure to conform to the status quo.
Except that’s exactly what it looks like he’s doing, doesn’t it? Now that the Democratic primary’s over and he’s courting a set of voters less easily impressed by the Higher Patriotism that comes with nobly refusing to wear a piece of 99-cent tin on your jacket, back on it goes, magically divested of the Iraq cooties just in time for the general election.
Exit question one: Let me guess — a staffer’s to blame, right? Exit question two: What on earth is he doing campaigning in West Virginia? Hillary’s up by 35 points; every minute he spends there makes it look more like a true contest between them. What does he want with those bitter, clingy rubes, anyway? They’re going Republican in the fall regardless.

I hope he’s practicing behind the scenes for the inevitable duck-hunting photo-op this fall when he realizes he’s trailing badly in the bitter clinger community.
JammieWearingFool on May 12, 2008 at 4:16 PM
He doesn’t mind wearing a flag pin, so long as it’s a white flag.
Akzed on May 12, 2008 at 4:16 PM
3 defeats in a row looks bad. 3 land slides looks worse. isn’t he facing just that?
lorien1973 on May 12, 2008 at 4:16 PM
plus, 7 states appear to have seceded from the union already. at this rate, he’ll only have to win 1 or 2 to be elected in november.
lorien1973 on May 12, 2008 at 4:17 PM
Was it a 57 state pin ??
redrock on May 12, 2008 at 4:19 PM
I hope he looks more manly shooting at ducks than blowing at pins.

I saw this on Fox today, it gave me a good chuckle.

Is he trying to appeal to the “hicks” as El Rushbo said today?

Whew. I’m proud of my country again.

From what I hear, no Democrat was ever elected president without WV
bnelson44 on May 12, 2008 at 4:22 PM
Obama is like a rock band that appeals to a very small audience and tries to make the top forty by writing a pop hit, a lapel pin. Pitiful, just pitiful.
The man is all epidermis. Skin color and suit pin.

His staff is making him wear it to remind him not to refer to the Organization of Islamic States in his campaign speeches again.

Switching gears, he has the far left vote, now with a wink and a nod, he is going after the middle and right.
VFW, here he comes…

I really don’t care one whit about wearing a flag pin. I’m sure The Obamassiah wants nothing but the best for the US. It’s his definition of what’s best that worries me. Just say “no” to surrendering socialists.

Funny!

I hope Bill Ayers is at a safe distance. Wouldn’t want Barry’s Burberry to get trampled.

He’s just pindering.

After the photos of William Ayers Flag Stompin’ Boogie, Barry had no choice but to wear the lapel pin.

You knew it was cynical bs when first you heard it, right?
Probably his wife makes him remove it before she’ll allow him in the house.
petefrt on May 12, 2008 at 4:35 PM
Somebody wrote this week that Barry’O would not wear the pin because he was afraid Bill Ayers woul stomp on his lapel if he did.
EJDolbow on May 12, 2008 at 4:38 PM
I take it he left the Hammer & Sickle pin at home.

I wish he would take it off and leave it off. As an American who loves this country (despite its imperfections, and yes Barack, we rubes who love this country understand that its not perfect and never will be, but we still think it’s exceptional), it offends me to see the flag being used in such a hypocritical manner by someone who clearly has no understanding or appreciation for what it really symbolizes.
AZCoyote on May 12, 2008 at 4:43 PM
Well, one a single count, Jeremiah Wright was correct. Obama will do what all politicians do. Pander.
I bet McCain didn’t wear a flag pin in his courting of La Raza.
Spirit of 1776 on May 12, 2008 at 4:44 PM
Well said.
Spirit of 1776 on May 12, 2008 at 4:45 PM
is he wearing the new 57 state flag pin ????
Mojack420 on May 12, 2008 at 4:47 PM
Just so you know, Allah, that “piece of tin” gains some value when it is modified to look like the flag, just as three colors of cloth do when they are sewn together in such a way as to become the flag. Being above the fray is all very good, but you sometimes come uncomfortably close to disdaining something that many, even most, of us place great value on - patriotism. Maybe I’m just a crabby old soldier, but I’d appreciate it if you could dial back the snark now and then.
Longhorn Six on May 12, 2008 at 4:47 PM
I doesn’t matter what he does as far as the MSM is concerned. Puppy love is blind.

Barry O flag pin
Mojack420 on May 12, 2008 at 4:53 PM
Simple. For almost 100 years, a Democrat has not won President without winning WV in the general election. He’s going to be soundly defeated tomorrow by Hillary, but he must appear interested in the WV voters in order to have a shot with them in November.
Everybody wants to feel loved.

Michelle Obama:
“Barack’s teleprompter said ‘57 states.’ Once, again, it’s impossible for a black man to overcome the hurdles of a white man’s society. Barack and I have never had a chance. America, and America’s teleprompters, are just plain mean.”
OhEssYouCowboys on May 12, 2008 at 4:56 PM
Best!
RushBaby on May 12, 2008 at 4:56 PM
As an experienced duck hunter on the Texas Gulf coast (as well as inland lakes and rivers), Obama doesn’t look to me like he can walk the deep marsh. He probably couldn’t make it 25 yards on the mud flats, and would probably trip on a stickup in the river bottom.
He better stick to flapping his jaw instead.
saiga on May 12, 2008 at 4:56 PM
Also on the duck hunting subject, Obama could probably run an outboard on a john boat about as good as Sean Penn did during Hurricane Katrina.
What a potlicker.
saiga on May 12, 2008 at 4:59 PM
Darling, this is beyond innocent puppy love. This is a Gargantuan man crush.

Sad, but true.
CNN interviewed WV Gov. Joe Manchin the other day regarding his super-delegate status. He very smoothly declined giving any endorsement waiting until “all states held their primaries”. I just wish that Jay Rockefeller and Nick J. Rahall would have followed Manchin’s lead.
natesnake on May 12, 2008 at 5:06 PM
It must really irritate Obama, having to wear that pin for the rubes who love America.

Obama had an ad here in Montana running on my radio this morning, talking about hunting and fishing and how that Obama helped to expand hunting grounds, yet protect the tasty, tasty animals that people here like to hunt.
I await the day he shows up here in Helena in hunting attire to bag him a deer.

Obama is campaigning in WV so he can at least give the appearance that he’s not above doing it. He’d probably rather be doing some G.E. campaigning in PA or OH, but it’s the next best thing for now.
And that bald guy was half right when he said PA was Philly and Pittsburgh with Alabama in between. PA is really more like Philly and the rest is West Virginia.

Michelle Obama:
“Barack can’t seem to find his Che Guevara lapel pin. So, he had to resort to what a typical, white candidate would wear. I’m convinced that he can’t seem to find his Che Guevara lapel pin, because of the racist society that we live in. Simply, there is no way that a black man and his wife can wear the lapel pins of their choosing. America failed us. It has given us nothing. Nothing.”
OhEssYouCowboys on May 12, 2008 at 5:18 PM
Ayers will be looking on him now to stomp on him.

I just hope he dosen’t take any of those West Virginian’s up on their offer to go “duck hunting”. : )

I am surprised his fingers didn’t scar and burn when he touched the flag to pin it on! And sure as hell Michelle wouldn’t stoop to pinning it on for him!
Way to go Democrats… nominate a couple who hate America. Well, I guess they do represent the ideals of the modern Democratic Party to a tee, don’t they?!

Our Flag has the same effect on Obama’s base constituents as Kryptonite has on Superman.

This is what I think happened:
One (or both) of his daughters picked out Daddy’s jacket for him. The chosen one still had the flag pin clinging to its lapel from the last time he wore it, before he made it an issue.

Who do we know that can market the fun new party game “Pin the Flag Pin on the Jack@ss?” A blindfold, some paper flag pins with sticky tape, an Obama poster, and Wheeee!
I’m not looking for any residuals, but it’d be nice.

For the first time in my adult like I’m throwing up a little in my mouth, daily.
Every time I see or hear this vacuous tyro fraud, the Technicolor yawn-impulse upgorges.
How people can vote for this emptiest of empty suits is a sickening indication of the dangerous phenomenon of projection.
Obama is so blank you could show a double feature on him.
“Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-up Zombies”
and:
“Eraserhead“.
profitsbeard on May 12, 2008 at 6:35 PM
Or a green Hamas Flag, or a black Jihadi flag, or a Cuban flag with Che, or maybe even a Venezuelan flag.
Just so long as it’s not a US Flag.
dmh0667 on May 12, 2008 at 7:36 PM
I was thinking about the flag pin,and don’t laugh
at my brilliant idea!
Maybe,Obama doesn’t want to wear his flag pin because
its made in China and wait for it,and maybe its painted
with toxic lead paint!
And Obama doesn’t want to expose this to anybody, this has
to be the only reason why Barrack isn’t proud of his flag
pin!
Wait a tick, okay maybe Barracks not wearing it because
he’s waiting for his new flag pin,the new pin will have
ALL 57 STARS!jus sayin!
As far as Obama campaigning in West Virginia, think of Obama
as Bismark ranging in her 15 guns, and say Hillary is the Hood, we all know what happens to the Hood on round two,
and of her run!Ha ha

If I wore a flag lapel pin, I’d wear it on my sleeve, just to accomplish the same effect that many of the politicians do when they wear them on their lapel.
