Arianna: McCain “used to be an American hero”

He forfeited the right to that label, evidently, when he ceased being overtly a Democrat in Republican’s clothing and became a Democrat in Republican’s clothing secretly. Who knew that the heroism inherent in enduring five years of torture from the Vietnamese depended upon the intimacy of one’s relationship with George Bush?
I can’t believe Colbert let her off the hook, either, about people having conspicuous changes of heart politically over time. Never mind whom the two tools from the “West Wing” say McCain voted for in 2000; who’d the ex-Mrs. Michael Huffington vote for in 2000? In ‘96?

Didn’t one of McCain’s people call this silly woman a poser and a liar recently? If not….

Because you KNOW O’Reilly would be all over that story. Night after night after night.

Why do we listen to this woman? She’s Paris Hilton plus a few years. She married a millionaire, divorced him and spouts ridiculous liberal rhetoric. Maybe she and Al Franken can go work comedy together and forget about politics?

I never thought so. Not that I’m a mind reader or anything, she just seemed like an opportunist hanger-on.

Eh, a media whore says something outrageous. No big surprise there. She is a media creation as sure as Howard Stern or Don King. If a dem is elected, she’ll turn on them soon enough, too. It’s got nothing to do with principles and everything to do with self aggrandizing.

McCain was a hero to the left when he bashed Republicans, when he does that today, they don’t hate him quite as much as they do other conservatives.
Snake307 on May 9, 2008 at 7:40 PM
To be fair, Arianna jumping the shark was no big deal. Even sharks have standards, none of them would touch this piece of scum. I disagree with many of McCain’s policies, but he is a hero.

To paraphrase the old SNL:
Arianna you ignorant sl*t! Bagged-out, dried-up, slunken meat like you is hardly qualified to pass judgment upon the heroism of a man like John McCain, who rendered heroic and honorable service to our country while you hopped from bed to bed with the frequency of a cheap ham radio. John McCain remains a hero, even if his politics don’t match up with your ideology du jour — and for a political slattern like you to claim otherwise after supporting and defending a seditious weasel like John Kerry in 2004 shows that you are unfit to hold the same citizenship as John McCain.

I really don’t like John mcCain but this hatred she is showing is crazy.
stenwin77 on May 9, 2008 at 8:12 PM

She loved him when he thought like her, she hates him when he thinks differently. What an open minded, progressive party!
ctmom on May 9, 2008 at 8:19 PM
About 50% — I’ve borrowed a number of Dan Akroyd’s phrases from one of the old “Weekend Update” skits (end of transcript) that he did with Jane Curtain. This comes from one he did on the Lee Marvin palimony case — but I figured the comments made can certainly apply to Arianna.
But this is from a long time ago — back when Al Franken was actually funny, to be precise.
RhymesWithRight on May 9, 2008 at 8:27 PM
Political whores of the Arianna Huffington caliber have no moral authority, or any authority. She’s a hypocrite and an opportunistic user/slut.
This socialist/communist, born in Greece, educated at Cambridge, married a filthy rich conservative (no, money had nothing to do with it, nothing at all…). She pretended to be a conservative, campaigned and fought hard for her husband’s senatorial run in Calif. He lost, declared his love for a guy, they divorced and voila, she’s a flaming liberal, living off the billions of former husband, while preaching “live green” to us.

The steel poles went limp, the dams broke and the windows shattered.
I’d rather listen to Rosie belch and fart.

ha ha ha So Juan “Z-Visa” McCain says he’s a Republican like Teddy Roosevelt. A little quote from Teddy:
“In the first place, we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the person’s becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American…There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn’t an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag… We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language… and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people.”
Theodore Roosevelt 1907
As for Arrianna Huffington? She is crazy….and mean. But, I’d do her…I like my women a little bit trashy….ha ha

Ed Rollins ran Michael Huffington’s 1994 senatorial campaign back in the nineties. This is what he wrote about the Huffingtons:
Since early July, I’d been working for two of the most unprincipled political creatures I’d ever encountered. One was such a complete cipher he gave empty suits a bad name. But his wife was even worse - a domineering Greek Rasputin determined to ride her husband’s wealth to political glory at any cost….
Arianna Huffington had charmed me out of my socks to get me to manage her husband’s campaign. But in a few short months, I’d come to realize that she was the most ruthless, unscrupulous, and ambitious person I’d met in thirty years in national politics - not to mention that she sometimes seemed truly pathological.
Ouch. That hurt me just typing it.
SteveMG on May 9, 2008 at 8:57 PM
Is there an agreement between Hot Air and Huffington?
The woman has a brain of a donkey, the more you beat her up, the more she brays.
Keep on feeding her hay, keep on quoting her, I still believe women should stay home, get married, have kids, raise them good. That’s their primary duty in life, of course in my opinion, because God has created women for that function and that’s His opinion.
Indy Conservative on May 9, 2008 at 8:58 PM
That’s just a fact. You can’t blame that on her. There’s plenty you can nail her on, like her opportunism for marrying for money, pretending to be conservative, when in fact she was always a socialist, leaning far, far left. Then her “green” preachings, while she flies privately in very rich airplanes, lives in a huge house, etc. etc.

Sekhmet on May 9, 2008 at 11:26 PM
Hopefully you’re asleep already.
My grandma, a very wise lady, always said “never ask for equality with men, because you might get it”.
On the duties, I hope that you meant that we have different duties, and that yours are the tougher ones. For example, I think women can fly planes just fine, but they can’t lift what you can, necessarily. Feminism has brought a lot of foolishness with it.
Glad you grant equality by law. Not a feminist here, but no man would dare discriminate against me; none ever tried. On the other hand, I love guys to be guys and don’t tread on their territory. Yes, we are different, and it’s a good thing. Men are not from Mars and women are not from Venus. We’re just different.
p.s. Arianna is still a hypocritical opportunistic insufferable snob who attributes herself too much significance.

A woman is a mother, a housewife, a friend, a companion and in some cases a contributor to the income. She helps the household and knows her limits.
