Video: Happy Mother’s Day from John McCain

Schmaltzy and essentially disingenuous as all holiday-themed political ads are, but also sweet and highly effective as reassurance that Maverick may be old but he’s hardly elderly. Now that Hillary’s done, the women’s vote is back in play, which explains why this is coming soon to an estrogen-flavored TV network near you.

Blowback

“Estrogen-flavored”? Necessary?

LOL.

Still my favorite blogger.

Theworldisnotenough on May 8, 2008 at 4:37 PM

More Roberta McCain! That was great.

It’s true. Read Ambinder’s list: Lifetime and Oxygen are women’s networks.

Allahpundit on May 8, 2008 at 4:39 PM

Wow. Mama McCain is quite spunky! I’m betting she could take Barry to the woodshed in a little mano-a-Marxist hoops.

Allahpundit on May 8, 2008 at 4:39 PM

What no Oprah network? Those are stations that are left off (intentionally) of my satellite programming.

Dr.Cwac.Cwac on May 8, 2008 at 4:41 PM

cute

jgapinoy on May 8, 2008 at 4:45 PM

No matter who the candidate I always enjoy seeing a fiesty Mom! Well, except for the dreaded Miss Lillian….for some reason she never charmed me at all.

You are missing countless hours of movies about men who kill or abuse their wives and get away with it - until the end, when the wife seeks revenge. Hours of movies just like that.

lorien1973 on May 8, 2008 at 4:46 PM

Why did they not have Roberta’s twin sister, Rowena, in the ad? They are cute together.

I know. Those stations are still programmed into my wife’s satellite guide. Hey! What no We network?

Dr.Cwac.Cwac on May 8, 2008 at 4:49 PM

Momma McCain kinda reminds me of Barbra Bush(Wife of George H.W. Bush)

Chakra Hammer on May 8, 2008 at 4:50 PM

Here’s what the left thinks of Mrs. McCain.

Dr.Cwac.Cwac on May 8, 2008 at 4:50 PM

absolutely precious

SoCalInfidel on May 8, 2008 at 4:51 PM

Barbara Bush* even..

Chakra Hammer on May 8, 2008 at 4:52 PM

I loved it. She’s 30 years older than me and in better shape. It made me a little easier about McCain’s age. Great job.

Glynn on May 8, 2008 at 4:53 PM

Sorry, but Cindy (his wife) probably would have been the better attraction for the Lifetime crowd.

BigD on May 8, 2008 at 4:56 PM

Great article about Mrs. McCain Sr. and her twin sister.

“My granddaughter asked me once if it was true that you used to be able to travel in Europe on $5 a day,” Mrs. McCain said. “I told her, ‘I don’t know; I never spent that much.’ ”

“I just got my passport renewed, and it’s good for 10 years,” said Mrs. McCain, who will turn 96 in February. “That’s what I call optimism.”

Until recently she still drove across Europe.

shudder…that’s true. They advertise on HGTV and TLC sometimes, and I used to occasionally watch Lifetime as a joke a while back…the hostility toward men in their programming is kinda scary

Dr.Cwac.Cwac on May 8, 2008 at 4:50 PM

I think I’ll pass on that link. It might make me angry, and if I got angry I could never be president. Someday I might suffer a traumatic brain injury and decide I wanted the job, so I had better keep those options open.

And you love it. Admit it :) I love you too,

Entelechy on May 8, 2008 at 5:08 PM

Plus, the “good lord” and “so help me god” from you Enrique, and from AP, is always smile-inducing.

Entelechy on May 8, 2008 at 5:09 PM

NYT has a photo of the two sisters. They both look great.

baldilocks on May 8, 2008 at 5:14 PM

That was cute

spacekicker on May 8, 2008 at 5:18 PM

I didn’t watch. Did he introduce her as a “typical white person”?

That is optimistic. I don’t even buy green bananas.

Peachy

Have you noticed that seniors are the biggest supporters of McCain yet no heat stroked losers passing out like flies in the crowd like the Hillary / Obama supporters.

That’s because a lot of them are already sitting down.

baldilocks on May 8, 2008 at 6:12 PM

Pretty amazing for 96 Y.O.

stenwin77 on May 8, 2008 at 6:29 PM

McCains first wife does look a little older…that is his first wife isn’t it?

right2bright on May 9, 2008 at 12:17 AM

That does it. Roberta McCain ‘08…the REAL Straight-Talk Express.
