I can’t argue with that, but if there is to be a case made about an “illegal immigrant crime wave” (not that you’re making it, but others certainly are) it will have to be by showing that illegals commit violent crimes at a higher rate than everyone else. The evidence doesn’t show that.

We should still enforce our laws and protect our borders, but not because of some mythical illegal immigrant crime wave.

This is by far my favorite blog, but I think someone is getting a little lax upstairs. I don’t recommend banning people outright. Rather I appreciate the stern rebukes handed to outright stupid commenters.

We have one person wishing “Pedro” dead. Another calling people, you know human beings, “beaners.” And again with the “chunte” slur.

I don’t care that you haven’t heard it used widely. You’ve been advised of how offensive the term is. Research it and set a standard. The silence is BS.

My first thought was that the victim was also an illegal immigrant or the child of illegal immigrants. The people most likely to be victimized by criminal aliens are their fellow illegal immigrants. They often fail to report a crime for fear of being deported. Getting a grip on illegal immigration protects them, too. Either they won’t be here to be victimized, or they’ll be here legally with full protection under the law.

Kowtowing to Mexico and a completely irrelevant international court is our own President Bush. This case is pivotal and precedent-setting. Now tell us all again that their immigration status doesn’t matter!

The Medellin case is a travesty of justice and has rounded the corner into pure evil. And it is setting irreversible precedents. So, NO, I don’t think this illegal alien child rapist, Juarez, will ever be properly punished. Again, our government refuses to DO ITS JOB of enforcing law and protecting citizens!

Exit question: how long before the people realize that the government is criminally derelict in its duty, and take the law into their own hands?

Certainly seems like an agenda to drive the right away from McCain in this election or at least ensure that the folks with whom immigration is important see McCain as someone who doesn’t support their views.

I have this funny feeling that the victim here was one of the kids who lived with this guy. The reporter seemingly went out of her way not to tell us anything about her or her family. Makes me wonder. It’s natural to assume that she was a local white girl raped by the vicious alien scumbag, but that might not be the case. It might be incest, whch would explain the family allowing the girl to have the baby.

I don’t see how anyone can argue his illegal status is not relevant. If he was not in this country, he would not be here to rape a child. It would have prevented this child from being raped by this defendant.

Not necessarily…stronger border enforcement might have kept the victim on the same side of the border as the perp, too.

Are they really so ignorant to believe that if this guy didn’t rape her someone else would have?

If this guy turns out to have entered the country legally, would you still place the blame on our immigration system? I can think of plenty of individuals who have committed horrific acts after entering the country legally; some, perhaps, should have been caught before they hurt anyone, while others were just sick individuals. I’ve gotta go with JetBoy on this one.
