This whole G.D. America piece, that’s a great example. First of all, right after he says that, the next sentence, which they never play, says, “And that’s in the Bible.” Now, it’s not written that way in English, but the Hebraic expression basically says this: if America makes itself and views itself as God, and not Yahweh, or the Lord God Almighty as God, then America basically is committing adultery, and then America is darning itself.

Um – I’m sorry but I forget where in the Bible the God spoke about America…cuz America did exist B.C., right?

Agreed, but how exactly can one engage on policy and philosophy when a large percentage of the electorate stopped thinking upon seeing the guy’s skin color?

BO has no accomplishment of any sort that should catapult him to the most powerful office in history.
The only qualification that attracted millions of his supporters is his skin color.

This is the first election where Obama is being tested in any serious way. He won’t give pressers on the campaign trail, he frequently makes dumb statements (“where am I?” in North Carolina, and don’t forget the tornado in Kansas that killed “20,000 people”) that his aides blame on him being “tired,” and he has demonstrated that he can’t manage his negatives well. (E.g., “I was in church for 20 years and never heard any of that,” or “Bill Ayers was just my neighbor!”)

With any other politician, that kind of political ineptitude would be fatal. Hillary couldn’t survive Tuzla-gate and Bill C.’s Jesse Jackson comment in South Carolina, for example. But since the disillusionment with GWB is so high and the press is so fully enamored of Obama, he’s getting away with it and might capture the Presidency. Very sad, and VERY dangerous for our country.

One does not preclude the other. I was speaking of the “Obama as Arab” crap that some nut made up that is all over the place now, not Wright’s lies or anyone that makes excuses for him.

I’ve been talking about Wright’s distortion of Christianity for a bit also; what does one call lies and truth mixed together? Lies.

Indeed. But I think someone who says “there are some things that Pastor Wright has said that are absolutely true” is also a dupe. Sure Wright probably has spoken a factual truth or two. But, pressed to give a Wright truth, this guy claims, “[R]ight after he says that [the damning], the next sentence, which they never play, says, ‘And that’s in the Bible.’” Sorry, but in reports I’ve seen, they generally include “That’s in the Bible.” I’ve heard people justifying and explaining “That’s in the Bible.” It still makes no sense to me, and it’s funny how those who try to explain “in the Bible” never seem to be able to cite where in the Bible God damning America is.

America needs all the help it can get, so I’d rather hear a hopeful “God bless America” than a hateful “God damn America.” Even if you believe America gave various STDs and drugs to oppress the free-will-free underclass, that would only mean that we the people need help and blessings, not fire and brimstone, at least in this lifetime. But that’s just my opinion….

The point is – and I believe this is why it is the quote of the day – If you think Wright was right so it doesn’t matter, why go into the detail of whether or not he was actually there ‘for 20 years’? You can’t logically have it both ways. Either he shouldn’t have been there – so he wasn’t. Or he was OK being there – so it doesn’t mean anything to say that he wasn’t actually ‘there’ for 20 years.

Arguing against this kind of logic makes you wonder if they should change no child left behind to no adult left behind and get these people some education in logic.

Yes ma’am. I have no qualms with people disagreeing over policy. In fact, I believe, while conservative thought is almost always the better application, that debate is in general healthy. But I think the inability to see the humanity in the people we disagree with lamentable and growing increasingly common. At least this fellow gives good testament to the President’s intentions and faith.
