I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother - a woman who helped raise me, a woman who sacrificed again and again for me, a woman who loves me as much as she loves anything in this world, but a woman who once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street, and who on more than one occasion has uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe.”

Before we discuss his grandmother, let’s examine the impact of Rev. Wright’s statements on the Senator’s two daughters. Nothing says it better than a song from the musical “South Pacific,” to wit, “You have to be taught to hate and fear…You’ve got to be carefully taught.” Few dispute that Rev. Wright’s sermons are filled with hate.

Why didn’t Senator Obama stand up in the church and denounce his hateful statements or, at the very least, argue privately with his minister? It was horrifying to see on a video now viewed across America the congregation rise from the pews to applaud their minister’s rants.

BO has no accomplishment of any sort that should catapult him to the most powerful office in history.
The only qualification that attracted millions of his supporters is his skin color.
Some will accuse me of racism for pointing this out. But it is many of his followers who are racist for supporting someone because he is Black.
I am not supporting McCain because he is White, but because he is infinitely more qualified than BO.

Yes ma’am. I have no qualms with people disagreeing over policy. In fact, I believe, while conservative thought is almost always the better application, that debate is in general healthy. But I think the inability to see the humanity in the people we disagree with lamentable and growing increasingly common. At least this fellow gives good testament to the President’s intentions and faith.

Amazing how the same quote has the guy saying that he wasn’t REALLY there for that amount of time. He goes into great detail about how it would be impossible for him to go to a church for 20 years (marry him, baptize kids, inspire book). But at the end of it it’s almost like the catch-all that well, ‘it doesn’t matter anyway because Wright was right about most of the stuff’.

The point is - and I believe this is why it is the quote of the day - If you think Wright was right so it doesn’t matter, why go into the detail of whether or not he was actually there ‘for 20 years’? You can’t logically have it both ways. Either he shouldn’t have been there - so he wasn’t. Or he was OK being there - so it doesn’t mean anything to say that he wasn’t actually ‘there’ for 20 years.

Arguing against this kind of logic makes you wonder if they should change no child left behind to no adult left behind and get these people some education in logic.

Whaddya mean, three years in law school? Each of those “years” only runs from August to May. That’s only eight months, or eight after you subtract that huge break between semesters. Even when school was in session, I can’t imagine he was in class more than 20 hours a week. Multiply that by 20 weeks per semester times six semesters, and we’re talking 2400 hours, or 100 days in law school, tops.

Will Obama ride on the coattails of ‘entitlement’ all the way to the Oval Office? Maybe. He can’t say that he has earned the right to be President.
If a white first term Senator with no accomplishments decided to run for President, we’d never know his name. Because he wouldn’t garner support in either party.
Obama hasn’t done anything. He doesn’t deserve to be President. Being a hard left Liberal may make the leftists love him, but most of the country is more moderate to center to right. If that weren’t the case, George Bush wouldn’t have won re-election.
Fringe candidates don’t win. Obama can’t win.

Even if Wright said anything that was true, it’s an old tactic for people like him to mix in truth with half-truths, distortions and outright lies just so it can be said that “some of what he said is true.” Obama employs this tactic all the time.

Indeed. But I think someone who says “there are some things that Pastor Wright has said that are absolutely true” is also a dupe. Sure Wright probably has spoken a factual truth or two. But, pressed to give a Wright truth, this guy claims, “[R]ight after he says that [the damning], the next sentence, which they never play, says, ‘And that’s in the Bible.’” Sorry, but in reports I’ve seen, they generally include “That’s in the Bible.” I’ve heard people justifying and explaining “That’s in the Bible.” It still makes no sense to me, and it’s funny how those who try to explain “in the Bible” never seem to be able to cite where in the Bible God damning America is.

America needs all the help it can get, so I’d rather hear a hopeful “God bless America” than a hateful “God damn America.” Even if you believe America gave various STDs and drugs to oppress the free-will-free underclass, that would only mean that we the people need help and blessings, not fire and brimstone, at least in this lifetime. But that’s just my opinion….

This is the first election where Obama is being tested in any serious way. He won’t give pressers on the campaign trail, he frequently makes dumb statements (”where am I?” in North Carolina, and don’t forget the tornado in Kansas that killed “20,000 people”) that his aides blame on him being “tired,” and he has demonstrated that he can’t manage his negatives well. (E.g., “I was in church for 20 years and never heard any of that,” or “Bill Ayers was just my neighbor!”)

With any other politician, that kind of political ineptitude would be fatal. Hillary couldn’t survive Tuzla-gate and Bill C.’s Jesse Jackson comment in South Carolina, for example. But since the disillusionment with GWB is so high and the press is so fully enamored of Obama, he’s getting away with it and might capture the Presidency. Very sad, and VERY dangerous for our country.

This whole G.D. America piece, that’s a great example. First of all, right after he says that, the next sentence, which they never play, says, “And that’s in the Bible.” Now, it’s not written that way in English, but the Hebraic expression basically says this: if America makes itself and views itself as God, and not Yahweh, or the Lord God Almighty as God, then America basically is committing adultery, and then America is darning itself.

Um - I’m sorry but I forget where in the Bible the God spoke about America…cuz America did exist B.C., right?
