Hillary: I am fully prepared to rock on

posted at 4:16 pm on May 7, 2008 by Allahpundit

Good lord. Conduct yourself with a little dignity in the face of death, Hillary, please. Yes, granted, she’s more of a threat than Obama to steal the Hispanic vote from McCain, and yes, the massive black turnout that will greet him in November is likely to come mostly in southern states that are foregone conclusions for the GOP (Virginia notably excepted), and, okay, yes, she’s done better in the battlegrounds than he has and would have won the nomination if they were winner-take-all. All true, and all beside the point. There’s a saying that comes to mind about what my aunt would need to have to be my uncle, but there’s already so much racial and gender politics swirling in this loathsome primary that I’m disinclined to repeat it. Suffice it to say, per Florida and Michigan, Her Majesty is still stuck at Stage Three; her superdelegates are already on their way to Stage Five. She will be too, soon enough.

I almost hate to admit I’m sorta rooting for her. I wouldn’t vote for her or anything, but a secret, hidden part of me wants her to win. It would be hell in a handbasket, though.

When I was growing up, I wanted to be the first woman president. Not really a life goal anymore, but I still look forward to the day it happens. Sure, I’d rather it be a woman elected on her own merits, but right now, I’ll take what I can get.

YEA Hillary ! You go girl !!

Maxx on May 7, 2008 at 4:22 PM

There was no way in h*ll she was going out easily. These are the Clintons. They just lent themselves $6 million more, they’re looking at landslide victories in 2 upcoming states, she doesn’t believe (or at least doesn’t admit) that the primary is hurting the party, and this is probably her last chance.

amerpundit on May 7, 2008 at 4:22 PM

She is willing to endure the slings and arrows (And snipre fire !) of her party to save America people !

It takes a village to stop her !

I am impressed with her tenacity, and not impressed with AP’s douchery.

“The end comes for me when I say it will” – - Hillary

This year is a beauty for blogging, and for any political junkies, all gratis.

She’s got moxie. I’ve grown to admire her, for which reason I switched to Obama being my preferred liberal nominee. But this gladiator fight can go on. No objection here.

Why in the world would you want Hillary to drop out? Mystifying.

Besides, CINC-USOC has issued his orders, and she’s an operative.

misterpeasea on May 7, 2008 at 4:43 PM

Whatever they have on Barack Hussein must be good or no way would a sane person think she could get away with stealing the deal.
And as for her own money —it’s a loan to be paid back by the DNC at what interest rate? Money laundering, turning Chinese cash into personal finances?

dhunter on May 7, 2008 at 4:44 PM

AP, just an unrelated thought. I have seen the words “FOREGONE CONCLUSION”, as you used above a few hundred times in reading the blogs. As I remember my high school English, you don’t “go” a conclusion, you “draw” a conclusion, therefore, the proper term is “foredrawn conclusion” Am i correct? Just asking. I really enjoy your work.

Hillary quit? Have another highball…

She’s rightly convinced that Obama can’t beat McCain, and she’s continuing to win primaries with more victories to come. That’s all the excuse she needs to force a food fight in Denver.

Sure, Obama can walk away from Denver with the nomination; and a huge chunk of Hillary’s supporters will vote for McCain. That internal Dem rejection of Obama is Hillary’s biggest club.

It comes down to this. While Hillary would never agree to run as VP, Obama will when the pressure is on. This will end with a Clinton/Obama ticket and a “16 years” campaign theme. And McCain’s message will never gain traction.

I think she is holding a couple of aces up her sleeve on Bambi’s past. I look for them to drop before or during the next primaries which she is supposed to win big time anyway, so it won’t look like she’s doing it to affect the outcomes in those races. She’s after his electablity IMO, he has more closet skeletons, or it might just be something like proof he attended one of
Wrights worst sermons.

a capella on May 7, 2008 at 5:24 PM

Why would she sit on such a secret all this time? If she had something she would have used it to get the breathing space to put together her McCain attack. Makes no sense to run this out to the last possible moment.

Limerick on May 7, 2008 at 5:27 PM

Ted Kennedy went to the convention with more of a gap in delegates than she has.

bnelson44 on May 7, 2008 at 5:31 PM

My guess, Limerick, is that she hoped she could either pull it out on her own, or that he would trip himself up yet again. That way, she still gets to win, without being the bad guy for dropping yet another shoe on HopeBama.

As it is, they would still have to be careful about how they release whatever she’s got, else it looks like “oh well, I lost NC, but hey, he’s a poopyhead!”

steveegg on May 7, 2008 at 5:34 PM

If Hillary fails to secure the Democratic nomination she should be encouraged to run as an independent in the general election. I believe she would draw more votes than Obama and would be able to have her final revenge on those disloyal Democrats that abandoned her.

SouthernGent on May 7, 2008 at 6:07 PM

Pelosi now wants the show to go on…curioser and curioser…oz, indeed. Reid already said so a couple of days ago.

When asked if Clinton has a chance still, Pelosi replied

“You never know in elections.”

“As long as a campaign is going and the candidates are in the race, there is always a possibility.”

Curious, form someone who wanted to desperately end it…what does she know?

Hillary had all the dirt on Obama from the start, when she was ahead and he was nobody. Why didn’t they use it then? I think she knows Obama can’t beat McCain and then he’ll be toast and 2012 will be hers. She knows McCain will be a one term winner. Just a thought.

scalleywag on May 7, 2008 at 6:12 PM

Entelechy on May 7, 2008 at 6:12 PM

I want to be the first to say that when Clinton wins West Virginia by 70%+….the people of West Virginia will be smeared in the ugliest of ways by the dinosaur media and, of course, our enemies on The Left blogs. Racist, bigot, inbred, White trash…etc…just watch and see.

SouthernGent on May 7, 2008 at 6:51 PM

Hillary had all the dirt on Obama from the start, when she was ahead and he was nobody. Why didn’t they use it then?

Because she didn’t think she had to and she didn’t want to be the Bad Guy, knifing a fellow candidate in the back. It’s elementary, really.

Now, however, it’s beginning to look as if she will have to and I, for one, can’t wait. It’ll be grand. Either it will destroy Obama for the general or it’ll miraculously cause the convention to snatch the nomination away from him which, then, will destroy the Democrat Party.

Go Hillary! Damn, I may have to donate to the Hildebeest if that’s what it’ll take to keep this show going.

Sorry, I just don’t see her going on like this, throwing money out the window unless she’s got some sneaky plan up her sleeve. It may be a dumbass one that won’t work in the end, but whether it works or not we still get to enjoy the show.

Loving every minute of it.

I have to admit. a McCain Presidency, with its global warming bs, and possible immigration wobblyness, and potential economic question marks might not be ideal, but it would 100x better than a Hillary reign. And 1000x better than a BHO tenure. Therefore, GO HILLARY GO!

She’s offering the most effective pander. She shouldn’t quit.

whiskey_199 on May 8, 2008 at 12:40 AM

Let me add –

The race will come down to economics. Obama’s whole yuppie/minority pandering career has left him unable to comprehend “it’s the economy stupid.”

Hillary knows he’s a disaster for Dems.

Hence she’s sticking around. I think the demos out IN are pretty tough for Obama’s campaign — he won basically with an influx of Blacks/College Kids. I don’t see that replicated nationwide.
