That was… disturbing…

Deeeesstrooooo!!!
SouthernDem on May 7, 2008 at 7:10 PM
Nicely done!
SouthernGent on May 7, 2008 at 7:11 PM
MMMmmm! Ridicule of the Obamessiah with cheesy ’80’s reference filling. That’s tasty.
Unfortunately, the Dems have achieved cult status. You may prevent further spread of the condition, but those already in the cult will need full on deprogramming. Their supporters are convinced that only the candidate they support can save America. America has problems, but it doesn’t need to be saved by the Dems. It needs to be saved from the Dems.
trubble on May 7, 2008 at 7:12 PM
That was horrible to listen to.
Guardian on May 7, 2008 at 7:12 PM
=/
that movie is going to blow chunks. Or maybe I will when I see it. Pirated, at home, with a bucket nearby.
Voidseeker on May 7, 2008 at 7:13 PM
Hate hate hate G4.
Typhonsentra on May 7, 2008 at 7:14 PM
Cobra is racist. They didn’t use any of Obama’s DNA to make Serpentor.
rw on May 7, 2008 at 7:16 PM
Man! Kids today have no idea that we had the best cartoons. J.I. Joe, Qubert, Voltron, Thunder Cats, Snorks, etc.
Weight of Glory on May 7, 2008 at 7:21 PM
Now you know.
And knowing is half the battle!
Leopold Stotch on May 7, 2008 at 7:24 PM
What’s truly disturbing is how Cobra’s video so nearly says what Obama says.
The man is a fascist.
Delicious senior citizen milkshakes notwithstanding.
Scribbler on May 7, 2008 at 7:28 PM
I’m just glad that G4’s finally started digging at Obama. ‘course, helps that he’s all but the confirmed nominee now
apollyonbob on May 7, 2008 at 7:33 PM
OMG. That was just too damn funny.
Cooooooooooobralalalalalaaaaaaa!

doubleplusundead on May 7, 2008 at 7:34 PM
Wait. That was a coherent political commentary?
Well, the women were cute…
ParisParamus on May 7, 2008 at 7:41 PM
Snorks? Snorks?!?
SouthernDem on May 7, 2008 at 7:47 PM
WTF? First the everlasting light bulb, and now this?
Vigilante on May 7, 2008 at 7:48 PM
I don’t think that was on their agenda.
ninjapirate on May 7, 2008 at 7:49 PM
Geez I feel old, I have no idea who Cobra Commander is or what he/she/it represents. The best cartoons were Popeye, Tom and Jerry, Roadrunner and Betty Boop.
Oldnuke on May 7, 2008 at 7:55 PM
I MUST HAVE A HELMET LIKE THAT.

I’m with you Oldnuke, I don’t like stuff that I can’t figure out which side of the fence they are on.
Maxx on May 7, 2008 at 8:07 PM
Olivia saying ’smell with their tounges’ did it. I’m totally in the bag for Cobra Commander.
exception on May 7, 2008 at 8:08 PM
That was great.
Spirit of 1776 on May 7, 2008 at 8:09 PM
I know it’s trendy in gaming circles to hate on G4, but how on earth can you hate Olivia Munn?
Oh, and this clip wasn’t bad either.
Nessuno on May 7, 2008 at 8:10 PM
Heh. When I was a kid, I was a connoisseur of cartoons.
Weight of Glory on May 7, 2008 at 8:12 PM
Is that Axl Rose under that mask?
thebrokenchair on May 7, 2008 at 8:13 PM
I felt a thrill going up my leg. Where do I sign up?
I don’t know if I agree with his message, but he’s such a good speaker…and he gives people hope. And that’s what we need right now, hope and change.
29Victor on May 7, 2008 at 8:30 PM
LOL
The Destro cameo got me. LOL.
Theworldisnotenough on May 7, 2008 at 8:33 PM
I think we’re about the same age, cuz I watched the Snorks too, but the same class as GI Joe, Voltron and Thundercats?
With all due respect my friend, I think not.
SouthernDem on May 7, 2008 at 8:39 PM
*Tears*
Can’t… Stop…. Laughing….
I always thought it was Barry O under that crome mask LOL
-Wasteland Man.
Ya sow what ya reap y’all. Hee hee.

Beat me to it. I’m thinking a nice Strawberry-kiki-Kennedy.
BadgerHawk on May 7, 2008 at 8:42 PM
That sounded more like a 20 mm Phalanx gattling gun
shredding an Iranian gunboat in high winds!Nasty,HaHa!
canopfor on May 7, 2008 at 8:46 PM
Heh.
Weight of Glory on May 7, 2008 at 8:46 PM
That was funny.
Though, whenever I see Obama now I always starting hearing Living Colour’s “The Cult of Personality”
Look into my eyes, what do you see?
Cult of Personality
I know your anger, I know your dreams
I’ve been everything you want to be
I’m the Cult of Personality
Like Mussolini and Kennedy
I’m the Cult of Personality
Cult of Personality
Cult of Personality
Neon lights, A Nobel Price
The mirror speaks, the reflection lies
You don’t have to follow me
Only you can set me free
I sell the things you need to be
I’m the smiling face on your T.V.
I’m the Cult of Personality
I exploit you still you love me
I tell you one and one makes three
I’m the Cult of Personality
Like Joseph Stalin and Gandhi
I’m the Cult of Personality
Cult of Personality
Cult of Personality
Neon lights a Nobel Prize
A leader speaks, that leader dies
You don’t have to follow me
Only you can set you free
You gave me fortune
You gave me fame
You me power in your God’s name
I’m every person you need to be
I’m the Cult of Personality
18-1 on May 7, 2008 at 9:02 PM
Did anyone else notice the similarity to Bob Geldof in Pink Floyd’s “The Wall”? Sorry if I’m not the first to ask this, I didn’t read everyone’s posts.
rihar on May 7, 2008 at 9:09 PM
Do you know your G.I. Joe?
My best score was 900, but I am the voice over actor heard in the game.
ScottMcC on May 7, 2008 at 9:17 PM
The simply don’t make terrorists like they used to!
Reaps on May 7, 2008 at 9:28 PM
For some unknown reason, after watching, this came to mind…..
Seven Percent Solution on May 7, 2008 at 9:31 PM
9 out of 10. Either the questions were easy or I’m more tragic than I thought
Still looking forward to the movie; if it’s anything like the 80s it’ll be worse than the Transformers movie but still entertaining. And somewhat off-the-wall.
The new toyline looks pretty schmick too.
Reaps on May 7, 2008 at 9:42 PM
That was the awesomest thing in the history of the internet.
But no Zartan means nine point five out of ten.
see-dubya on May 7, 2008 at 9:43 PM
Baroness trumps Zartan. The cartoon was nothing compared to the comic.
Robotech was the best 80’s cartoon because of this sixty seconds.
rw on May 7, 2008 at 9:55 PM
That was fun. I was on a roll, but somehow got the pyramid of darkness question wrong, and snowballed into a 400.
BadgerHawk on May 7, 2008 at 10:01 PM
Destro’s cameo is awesome.
marc@hubsandspokes on May 7, 2008 at 10:26 PM
Dude! That was made of awesome and pure win!
PolitiNOOB on May 7, 2008 at 10:58 PM
I’m not sure who the intended audience is. Unless you already hate Obama, it’s just annoying. For that matter, I don’t like Obama and I found it annoying and pointless.
thuja on May 7, 2008 at 11:12 PM
Ha! I like the kids behind him holding up Cobra signs! I don’t remember the cartoon Cobra Commander giving speeches or running for office, but it’s a nice update.
“So this is how democracy dies … to thunderous applause.”
Tony737 on May 7, 2008 at 11:31 PM
Well done…and of course McCain is GI Joe, who always wins in the end…
Hannibal Smith on May 7, 2008 at 11:47 PM
The simply don’t make terrorists like they used to!Reaps on May 7, 2008 at 9:28 PM
You mean … like this?
Rosmerta on May 7, 2008 at 11:49 PM
Er … that was supposed to be a block quote, Reaps. My bad.
For the whole original see here.
I’m sorry, ’80s cartoons just can’t compare.
Except for Star Blazers, of course.
Rosmerta on May 8, 2008 at 12:00 AM
Star Blazers was cool - but not as awesome as Robotech.
wise_man on May 8, 2008 at 12:14 AM
Star Blazers! THAT was the ultimate bad azz cartoon! The lasers from the main guns would pass right through the enemy ships … pause … the whole ship explodes, no escape pods, everybody onboard is dead. The came G.I. Joe and everytime they shot down a Cobra fighter jet (which somehow was always a Fairchild Republic A-10!) the pilot always ejected just in time.
Tony737 on May 8, 2008 at 1:25 AM
The Star Blazers here was cencored from the real violence though. There are some youtube clips of side by sideness of it, but I can’t find em at the moment.

MirCat on May 8, 2008 at 2:02 AM
“I’m not going to be ground under the wheels of big government!… I’m going to create an underground organization that will bypass government restrictions, and garner power through terrorism and extortion!… I won’t stop until my organization coils around the whole world like a giant cobra!” — Cobra Commander, circa. 1978
Gkyluig on May 8, 2008 at 2:50 AM
Cool! Thanks Cat, this brings back memories!
Tony737 on May 8, 2008 at 3:00 AM
There was a reason that I removed G4 from the cable package.
Bring back TechTV!!!
Jim708 on May 8, 2008 at 5:34 AM
Olivia Munn saying “Si, se puede” with the power fist was awesome.
Mmmmm…[PRINCESS LEIA IN A METAL BIKINI CONTENT WARNING]…Olivia Munn.
Sean M. on May 8, 2008 at 6:00 AM
I…I…I cannot believe that G4 actually produced something funny.
Further, I cannot believe that G4 actually produced something political and funny.
Cylor on May 8, 2008 at 6:47 AM
You’re right 18-1, I always think of that song when I hear anything on Obama.
mo_gunslinger on May 8, 2008 at 7:06 AM
Sweet.
Tanya on May 8, 2008 at 8:01 AM
Wow. I was thinking the same thing. The part were he’s dressed up as a nazi giving a speech.

Shut up, Butters!
(Sorry, couldn’t resist.)

Matt Drudge is in a band?
Buy Danish on May 8, 2008 at 8:26 AM
Is there a version with just the regular vocals, without the obnoxious high-pitched speaking?
What a hottie. And from what little of the singing I can discern, she even sounds good, too.
Bigfoot on May 8, 2008 at 8:34 AM
Totally unintelligible!
Why waste bandwidth on stuff like this?
Longhorn Six on May 8, 2008 at 8:49 AM
I’ve always found G4 really lefty and mocking of conservative values, smug and loaded with tons of “winking” at the viewers. Basically, if you’re not up-to-date on the lastest pop-cult shit you’re in-the-dark.
Having said that that video was “teh AWESOME!”™
Is it possible that this mocking of Barry’s fan’s video is a sign that people, even those “on his team” in the media are, perhaps, questioning what’s going on? Or is that too much to hope for?
Oh, and 18-1?
Yeah, I’m starting to hear the opening riff to that Living Color song as well whenever people gush over Obama as well.

We had the best cartoons in the 60’s - The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Huckleberry Hound, Yogi Bear, The entire Warner Brothers and MGM cartoon library, and best of all, Popeye - that is, the pre-1950’s Popeye.
abcurtis on May 8, 2008 at 9:46 AM

MechEng5by5 on May 8, 2008 at 10:19 AM
Ummm AP…shouldn’t that be: “Yesssss, We Can”?
pseudonominus on May 8, 2008 at 10:22 AM
As much as content, it’s style and delivery that determine the public’s responsive reception as “real” and “authentic” experiences.
Cannibals grind senior citizens into milk shakes, leaving you the next victim of THAT machine, lame brain!”
Propaganda begins from the cradle. Don’t let the DEM determine our children’s affections and preferential content in song, games, literature, cartoons, and movies, GOP!
There is a great need for responsible production. Time for some children’s books and songs, age appropriate,
infant picture books adoring the elephant’s life cycle, through comic books for juveniles, and interactive games. Make a game sophmorically sophisticated enough for teens and parents into that stuff. Publish studies and feature news releases to constantly reiterate the message. BARRAGE.
GOP Wise Elephant
finest familial creature on earth
long memory, rational creature, loyal protector,
affectionately teaches its young determination,
hands down majestic victor against a donkey
DEM Stubborn and Unreasonable (stupid) Donkey
has feelings, also, but less brain; willful but not thoughtful. strong back and sure footed but certainly no more so than an Elephant. It’s smaller size fits a craggy mountain path to benefit cut throat vagabonds and pirates, aka al Quaeda, FARC, killers of parents and bombers of churches, schools and homes.

Who is the brunette singing into the microphone? She’s beautiful.
srhoades on May 8, 2008 at 11:39 AM
Uh, yeah. The “cult of personality” pretty much covers it.
I missed the original “Yes we can!” version, and went looking. And then found this one, too, which is even creepier if you ask me:
It’s starting to look like an honest to God cult. A dangerous one.
The irony that liberals are acting EXACTLY in the way they constantly claim others are acting … is funny, but still scary.
Obama! Obama!
Cult propaganda, baby. Creepy, creepy stuff.

spacekicker on May 8, 2008 at 1:20 PM
No one has mentioned Thundarr the Barbarian, so therefore: FAIL!
You kids and your 80’s cartoons. You didn’t have to sit through the 70’s and Hanna Barbera’s franchise raping. The various iterations of Scooby Doo remain unwatchable. The Superfriends was crap. Things started to get better with Thundarr, The Zorro/Tarzan Hour and Blackstar. After that, it was the Mattel/Mars Chocobot Hour and has remained so.
As for GI Joe… He was a 12 inch tall action figure who needed no commercial/TV show. Kung-Fu grip and so forth. Now, please get off my lawn, or I will get the hose.
Krydor on May 8, 2008 at 2:41 PM
