Audio: Limbaugh wonders, is it time for Operation Chaos to back Obama?

Eh, doesn’t much matter now, but it’s hard to argue with his logic re: black voters. Saying Obama’s a weaker candidate than Hillary, though, is like saying the daisy cutter’s a less effective weapon than the MOAB. True enough, perhaps — but once it lands on us, expect mass casualties.
Oh well. Mitt’s enjoying this, in any case.

Hey, anybody here ever had any problems with Red Lasso?
mikeyboss on May 7, 2008 at 3:05 PM
I use Blue lassoes myself.
Akzed on May 7, 2008 at 3:06 PM
This clip at least doesn’t work for me.
spkthed on May 7, 2008 at 3:07 PM
Yeah, listen: Please spare me the incessant whining about RedLasso. Do you guys think I record Limbaugh every day? If not for RedLasso, we wouldn’t have this clip at all, which means 100% of our readers would be deprived instead of the 10% which, for whatever reason, can’t process RL.
Try upgrading to Flash. If that doesn’t work, I don’t know what to tell you.
Allahpundit on May 7, 2008 at 3:07 PM
Works like a charm for me.
Allahpundit on May 7, 2008 at 3:08 PM
Actually, I think it was Kathryn Jean Lopez — NRO’s weakest link — who was enjoying it. Name dropper.
Not that I wouldn’t enjoy chatting with Mitt if given the opportunity.
BigD on May 7, 2008 at 3:08 PM
Lasso is finally working here fine.
But I have to agree with Rushie. Obama is and has been a crappy candidate. McCain will possibly crush him.
upinak on May 7, 2008 at 3:09 PM
Allah I think it is where people are. Some days it works like crap others (like today) works fine.
upinak on May 7, 2008 at 3:10 PM
The clip works fine for me.
amerpundit on May 7, 2008 at 3:11 PM
Kind of hard to argue with Rush on effectiveness. Though it would mean nothing if Clinton wasn’t so committed.
Spirit of 1776 on May 7, 2008 at 3:14 PM
Click here to download the latest Flash Player for your system.
Flash can be very processor-intensive so playback might be impaired on old computers. Connection speed is also a big factor.
Red Lasso has always worked great for me on my 3-year-old laptop, btw.
Gilda on May 7, 2008 at 3:14 PM
But President Obama thinks that’s not fair. If we can’t all have it, nobody can, right?
mikeyboss on May 7, 2008 at 3:15 PM
Maybe it’s time to put Operation Chaos in the attic next to our Members Only jackets.
Chuck Schick on May 7, 2008 at 3:15 PM
Seems to me like he’s trying to save face, “Operation Chaos” was supposed to take this thing to the convention and now it looks like that won’t happen. He saved her in Indiana but by nowhere near enough and he was powerless to stop McCain from getting the nod from his own party. The man’s a paper tiger.
Typhonsentra on May 7, 2008 at 3:16 PM
I for one prefer Red Lasso, even if it sometimes won’t work for reasons I can’t discern. Without it, you generally use Youtube, and that’s banned at work, which is where I normally am when online, even if I’m not on the clock.
Esthier on May 7, 2008 at 3:18 PM
Can we loop this into a 24 hour post on January 21st?
Limerick on May 7, 2008 at 3:18 PM
AP, it’s not Flash. It’s the bandwidth limitations of RL.
It’s because the bloody thing automatically connects to a content-serving port as soon as the embed loads in the browser, which means that even people who just load this thread to read what you say grab resources from people that actually want to get the RL content. Terrible load management design. Only serve the content that you have to; don’t start serving it until they want it. Bleh…
Anyway, I agree with the bomb analogy. OC is the only thing that’s going to do any damage to either of them by November, and most of that damage (if it ever really materializes) will only stick if it gets played out at the convention in Denver.
spmat on May 7, 2008 at 3:19 PM
No doubt about it.
Allahpundit on May 7, 2008 at 3:19 PM
I had issues with RL when it was first getting used here, but I don’t have any problems with it now, and haven’t for a long time. But I am sympathetic to those that are. Try upgrading your version of Flash.

I wonder when Conyers and reparations will enter the race? That ought to be fun. Conyers has backed reparations for years and said a few weeks back that Obama supported his push. No wonder the black vote is behind Obama. Money talks, especially if you think you are the recipient.
Conyers has taken his reparations page off his site, I wonder why?
Youtube has the Penn & Teller video it’s here http://youtube.com/watch?v=wQdSAlqNWPs — Funny but the language as usual is harsh.
tarpon on May 7, 2008 at 3:21 PM
He already has said that McCain is going to have a much harder time, if he doesn’t make the case that he is the stronger candidate.
I think this is the time for OpChaos to reorganize its strategy and seek those working-class voters who supported Hillary. Too many of them will not support Obama this fall. That is the key here.
newton on May 7, 2008 at 3:22 PM
Obama is the weaker candidate, but yeah, I agree, pretty transparent on this one, Rush.
doubleplusundead on May 7, 2008 at 3:22 PM
Typhonsentra on May 7, 2008 at 3:16 PM
Rush is tounge-in-cheek. He knows he doesn’t run America. Nobody does. Thats what he loves about it.
VolMagic on May 7, 2008 at 3:23 PM
RedLasso only acknowledges two potential problems that you could be having:
- Make sure javascripts are enabled on your browser.
- Upgrade flash
.
There’s always restarting the computer of course…
.
On topic: If I were a Democrat I would be pretty offended that my party’s only hope of winning nationally is the black vote. Scratch that - the victim vote…there are plenty of black people that think liberalism is weak sauce.
Rush is getting tiring. If there’s nothing sensational to talk about then maybe he should step back and start destroying our RINOs. That isn’t what he’s about though so “wishful thinking” I suppose.
blankminde on May 7, 2008 at 3:23 PM
Hmmm… I’m still stuck on how hilarious it is that Obama is going to win the nomination because Democrats are choosing NOT to count votes from Florida. If I were a Democrat in Florida or Michigan, I’d vote for McCain in November out of pure spite.
jasnell on May 7, 2008 at 3:25 PM
If RedLasso doesn’t work, you can probably fix it by upgrading Flash. Click here:
http://www.adobe.com/go/EN_US-H-GET-FLASH
indythinker on May 7, 2008 at 3:28 PM
Yeah, I think you’re right. I’ve got a brand new machine with the latest flash player, and it isn’t working for me. I’ve tried multiple browsers too. It’s annoying, but it doesn’t sound like anyone can fix it.
freakagriep on May 7, 2008 at 3:30 PM
So you don’t want us to tell you if it’s not working? Would you rather post stuff people can’t see and never know it?
freakagriep on May 7, 2008 at 3:33 PM
People on the conservative side have gotten so used to Rush doing the heavy lifting that they are (have been?) taking him for granted in a big way.
Having said that, I sometimes wonder that when Rush talks about the lack of elected Republican or conservative leadership in Washington, that the reason for that phenomenon is that they have abdicated that responsibility to him, which has left them free to be the big spending, big government, lazy, incoherent and derisive group that they are.
BigD on May 7, 2008 at 3:33 PM
I think he knows by now that it doesn’t work for some people. It’s only been mentioned in just about every thread there’s RedLasso. Again, there’s nothing he can do about it. Most people seem to play it fine, others can’t.
amerpundit on May 7, 2008 at 3:34 PM
Wow! the only leeway you give Rush to prove himself not a paper tiger, would have been to swing the entire republican nomination process. That’s a pretty high bar. I hope you will, in the future, allow for some other “strata” between “effective” and “paper tiger”
Weight of Glory on May 7, 2008 at 3:34 PM

The point is; not that chaos works, it works on the minds of the dems. Saying vote for Obama is telling them Obama is weak, and they have to buy into it since they believe Chaos is working.
It’s a shell game, the MSM and the liberals (and many on HA) have been suckered into believing Chaos is an actual working program.
That’s the beauty of it, without any effort, Rush is pulling the strings of the dems…they are so stoooopid.
right2bright on May 7, 2008 at 3:49 PM
Limbaugh thinks Hussein is a weak candidate nationally. I don’t know where the radio guy lives, but the more Hussein is attacked the more he gets popular.
Let’s face it Limbaugh, your foolishness is growing as much as Hussein’s chance of being president.
Stop crying and whinnying.
You obviously have no horse in the race so far, so shut up and go home.
But I know, at the end of the day you will root for McCain because you’re as liberal as he is.

Limbaugh did a good job with Oper. Chaos and I believe he has accomplished what he wanted to. No one will side with Hillery on the Michigan and Fla. votes. Never go against the black messiah it isn’t PC.
UnEasyRider on May 7, 2008 at 4:02 PM
That happened the other day on a post I made. After posting it several said “HUH?”, and they were right. I was working, threw down a bunch of words that, in my mind, seemed right. I went back and somewhat corrected it.
Maybe Indy will come back and correct his incoherent post.

right2bright on May 7, 2008 at 4:12 PM
And New York
EJDolbow on May 7, 2008 at 4:13 PM
Oh come on. It’s obvious.
Rush thinks Bambi is a weak candidate nationally, when it’s just not true. Bambi hasn’t lost 7 of the 10 biggest states to a woman who is loathed by large portions of the Left and Right. He hasn’t been hurt by being associated with the Rev. and the Weather Underground; to the contrary, those associations have helped him with the American public.
Rush is a flaming liberal who openly advocates for bigger government and more government control of every aspect of our lives. He espouses collectivism and denigrates individualism on a daily basis. He’s never positive about America; he takes great delight in trashing this country.
Rush is a clueless idiot, which is why he didn’t single-handedly rescue AM radio from the ash heap of history (thank you, Trotsky and Reagan). And why he doesn’t have the most-listened-to radio program in the history of radio. And why he can’t charge confiscatory rates to advertisers.
And if you try to tell me that Rush isn’t in the tank for McCain, well, that’s just silly.
Now gimme my money.

misterpeasea on May 7, 2008 at 4:56 PM

Reread, and send money, and leave Indy alone. I like him just the way he is.
Entelechy on May 7, 2008 at 5:02 PM
It doesn’t quite work like that. You can’t “swipe” a RedLasso video like you can a YouTube clip. Basically, my understanding (and I
could beprobably am wrong) is that when you clip something, all you’re doing is giving markers to play that part of the raw media that is stored at RL. I think that’s part of the reason they’ve been able to be so successful with getting every major network (TV and Radio) “clippable”…instead of a billion small clips they just use the media as it was originally recorded. The only way you could “swipe” it would be to use a screen recorder…and that would be ugly. For those of you complaining about RL…switch to FireFox, get the latest update of FireFox if you already have it, update your Flash, and try restarting your computer (on the rare occasion that RL doesn’t work on my laptop…this does the trick). It’s an awesome tool and I know it has to be saving AP a lot of time. Without it, he’d have to record every news network 24/7 or try describing what he saw/heard.
malan89 on May 7, 2008 at 5:03 PM
I stand by what I wrote.
For example, do you really think Rush Limbaugh is pro-life?
When Ann Coulter wears a cross on TV, do you really believe that she’s Christian?

Limbaugh is an entertainer, with a nifty following. I’ve listened to him maybe 4-5 times, for about 10 min. each, only when I’m on the road at the 9:00a.m. hour. Neither here, nor there.
Goose liver is good, especially on thin toasted bread, while it’s still hot.
Real conservatives are good, so long as they’re somewhat liberal with their tent - see Reagan.
Cookies - for those who like them, and can afford them with the figure…
Chinese food is good, if one likes it. I do.
French is also good, HA bashing to the contrary.
Odd is also good, so long as others are allowed to be the same.
Contrarian is also good, most of the time. Progress doesn’t come from singing kumbaya, together. Synergy is when we all go under, together.
The 3 candidates will hurt this country, in this order, from worst:
Obama
Hillary
McCain
Entelechy on May 7, 2008 at 5:35 PM

Is now a good time to reveal my theory that Jimmy Carter is a conservative hawk?
misterpeasea on May 7, 2008 at 5:48 PM
So what do we do?
Life is getting worse in America. Prices are up, salaries are down. The country will get its worse president ever whoever he is. Even “legal immigrants” from Mexico are thinking twice before digging tunnels. Life in America is not anymore appealing to those who are dreaming of coming here.

Rush is a little overboard on this one but not much. Obama is by far the weaker candidate. His main associates are a real estate scammer about to go to jail, an unrepentant bomber, a totally stupid wife and a nutty preacher plus the Chicago machine. With these kind of credentials how can he win?
duff65 on May 7, 2008 at 5:56 PM
There are certain things Rush has to say to appeal to his conservative listeners.
This country is tilting to the left and many so-called Republicans and Conservatives are in name only.
There are many definitions of Conservatism. You can pick what you want. But I believe that only the way you conduct your life is a living proof of your conservatism.
You can’t be like a televangelist who preaches something and do the opposite.

With these kind of credentials how can he win? How about the Republicans running a left wing dufus who would rather pal around with Ted Kennedy than make friends with conservatives? How about a Republican candidate that supports open borders, campaign finance, education reform, global warming and every other silly initiative that the left insists on, but takes every opportunity to stick his thumb in the eye of conservatives. That’s how he’s going to win because people like me will not support, campaign for or vote for McCain…period!

I don’t like McCain either. However, sometimes you just have to take the lesser of the three evils. If the Republicans had just had enough sense to nominate a better candidate this election would be a lock at this point. However, McCain at his worst (and it is pretty bad) is a lot better than either Obama or Hillary. You sit out the election and potentially make things much worse.
