Rosie on Wright: “I listened to him and, frankly, it made sense to me”

Via the ‘Busters, a lazy Monday trip down memory lane. Percentage of Americans who disagree or strongly disagree with Wright, per Gallup’s latest: 86. Percentage who strongly agree: just one, embodied by hard-left idiots like this willing to excuse any calumny or journey into paranoia in the interest of righting historical wrongs. She’s still deploying the “context” defense that Obama (finally) abandoned last week; she’s still excusing the “America created AIDS” libel on grounds that the government did, after all, infect black men with syphilis — which it technically didn’t, but which, unlike her other theories, is at least near to being true. I can’t think of a more transparent case of someone embracing conspiracies to affect intelligence, a fact betrayed here by her mention of blacks having once been considered three-fourths of a person. Close enough, Ro, close enough.

Exit question: You miss her, though, don’t you? Admit it. It’s okay; we’re among friends.

A thrill tried to go up her leg but got tired and gave up.

Getting an error with the vid–and I didn’t try to view it.

Answer to exit question: no, I don’t miss her, except inasmuch as I view her as the ideal Dem voter: someone who cannot spell and has no brain power.

It made sense to Rosie.

One more indication that Rev. Wright is stark, raving NUTS.

Cicero43 on May 5, 2008 at 1:51 PM

Rosie and Wright have a common enemy, the United States of America.

I admit I miss her in a way since she brought you so many great lines. Just by herself though, no.

HotAir had a few links that led to Alex Jones and his radio show. When I’m in the mood for crazy now, I just listen there for a bit. Then I’ll come here to listen to Ed’s show to get back to reality.

What a fat piece of excrement. It amazes me how people like her can make a fortune in the greatest country in the world, with the most opportunity anywhere, can then turn around and think we are the enemy.

amerpundit on May 5, 2008 at 2:02 PM

To me, this is just proof that homosexuality is a choice - and a POOR choice.

Americans are free to make whatever decision we want to make. Rosie wants to take Ahmadinejad’s creed over America’s creed because he is ‘Bush’s enemy’. It does not matter that he executes homosexuals for being homosexual. . . that’s her poor decision.

Wright’s ideas have no basis in fact or reality, but she agrees with them because it paints America as an evil place (don’t question their patriotism though).

She says that everybody is ‘a little bit’ gay which would indicate that everybody is ‘a little bit straight’ too. . . which again leads to the conclusion that homosexuality is a poor choice by misguided individuals.

Rosie would believe anything that goes against conservatives and considers America to be evil (the Great Satan). I am just glad that she is not influential outside of the 1 - 2 million loud homosexuals in America. We are free in America, but that means we are free to be wrong too. Rosie has plenty of money so it doesn’t matter to her if she is wrong. But here again, she is wrong again.

I would like to challenge Rosie O’Donnell to act as the official interpreter for The Anything But Righteous Reverend Wrong Way Wright and tell the rest of us who obviously seem to missing something vital here exactly what the hell it is he is actually trying to say.

And at the same time, she can once again share with us her riveting theory on how steel can’t melt in fire.

After which, we can offer her and the Reverend a nice piping hot cup of SHUT THE HELL UP!!!!!!!!!!!

pilamaye on May 5, 2008 at 2:12 PM

My God, people. When liberals are honest we should at least praise their honesty. Rosie at least has the guts to admit that she agrees with Wright. Almost all liberals agree with him, too, but fear being exposed.

It is far, far, far easier to deal with the Left when they at least are honest about their agenda. Dumping on the very few who are willing to come out and express what the rest of them are hiding is very counterproductive for our side.

Three fourths or three fifths, whatever. Whoever cites this part of the original Constitution is just plain ignorant. Black slaves were NO fifths of a person; this just had to do with counting them as a fraction to increase southern representation in Congress.

I get so sick of hearing this nonsense.

Splashman on May 5, 2008 at 2:33 PM

“I listened to him and, frankly, it made sense to me”

I don’t doubt that it did.

Actus reus and Rosie’s consipratorial mind:

Rosie makes a critical mistake by confussing omission with comission. She has inferred that the Tuskegee Study meant that that the govt actively infected unsuspecting black men with syphilis. I suspect that this is the crux of Wright’s argument as well.

The Tuskegee Study of Untreated Syphilis in the Negro Male was as the name suggests, a study of the deleterious effects of syphilis on untreated men. It was not linked in anyway to an effort to actively infect black men.

While neglect is unpardonable, the statements of Rosie and Wright suggest a fundamental misunderstanding or misrepresentation of the facts.

moxie_neanderthal on May 5, 2008 at 2:33 PM

Rosie and her ilk are good as confidence boosters. Just about anyone can say “I’m smarter than that”. It’s a “good thing”, as Martha Stewert would say.

Entelechy on May 5, 2008 at 2:34 PM

Rosie may be gone, but I still won’t watch The View. No way, no how.

And she is stupid. Read Cyril Kornbluth’s short story “The Marching Morons” I fear we are headed that way.

Ellen on May 5, 2008 at 2:34 PM

The government did not give syphilis to the Tuskegee men; those men got syphilis all on their own. The government simply left them untreated. True, that wasn’t ethically appropriate. But nothing prevented those men from seeking treatment elsewhere.

paul006 on May 5, 2008 at 2:34 PM

The people being studied here were in fact told that they were being treated, but you are correct, people linking this study with any attempt to INFECT black men with syphilis is simply a willing excercise in ignorance and a laziness preventing further research of the FACTS. There actually was no cure for syphilis at that point in history so even the argument that they SHOULD have been treating these people is bunk.

Bill O’Reilly missed this correction in an interview as well…I wish I could have been there to have corrected these ignorant statements myself and witness the foolish look on the nitwits faces when you knock the entire wind out of their argument.

Conservatives R Us on May 5, 2008 at 3:19 PM

The government did not infect men with syphilis:

The Tuskegee Study of Untreated Syphilis in the Negro Male[1] also known as the Tuskegee Syphilis Study, Pelkola Syphilis Study, Public Health Service Syphilis Study or the Tuskegee Experiment was a clinical study, conducted between 1932 and 1972 in Tuskegee, Alabama, in which 399 poor — and mostly illiterate — African American sharecroppers, who already suffered from syphilis, were studied to observe the natural progression of the disease if left untreated.

The experiment was an abomination, but let’s try to get the basic facts straight. Okey dokey Rosie?

The government simply left them untreated while claiming to treat them. True, that waswasn’t ethically appropriate criminally negligent. But nothing prevented those men from seeking treatment elsewhere, except for the fact that they thought they were receiving the best treatment.

Doesn’t this give you the creeps? That our government was conducting this experiment, well after the time treatment was available? It makes me sick to my stomach. And you know, it didn’t have be black men. It could have easily have been white sharecroppers. Poor. Uneducated. There are some moments in our history when I hang my head in shame. However, unlike Michelle Obama, I have found plenty to be proud of and hold my head high. But, it makes me sick that the harshest thing you would say about what was done was ethically inappropriate.

viking01 on May 5, 2008 at 3:32 PM

So where was she when the comet hit?

Cicero43 on May 5, 2008 at 3:34 PM

The Tuskegee study was grossly unethical, and the medical practitioners (some of whom were African-Americans themselves) who deceived the patients behaved shamefully. However, it doesn’t help anyone’s understanding of the event to keep perpetuating falsehoods (the myth that the U.S. government deliberately infected healthy black men with syphilis is nowhere “near to being true” AP).

Yes and yes.

Interestingly, the CDC website states that the study was undertaken to record the natural history of syphilis in hopes of justifying treatment programs for blacks.
