If you’re going to “showcase” “teh Awesome” of future tech then get somebody to do your CGI presentation that isn’t a 40-year-old SFX wannabe using a pirated copy of Maya and a 3 year old computer.

I bet that was done on an FPS game engine. It’s faster and easier than doing it from scratch, even if the end product doesn’t look particularly great.

Parts of that already exist. The ground robot the “soldier” unstrapped from his back is made by I-Robot (yes, the makers of the roomba also make the bomba) is called a SUG-V. Is currently operated by a single laptop equipped soldier but it is currently been demonstrated as part of the network. The “bugs” are only static demos in a lab, but the current generation of MAV (micro aerial vehicle) is about the size of a small beer keg. Awesome recon platform and very easy to fly.

That is pretty dang cool…can only imagine how much fun it would be to send a bug bomb into a bathroom and detonate it while some poor bomb maker is doing his morning routine..kinda makes me sad though. Weapons keep getting more compact; I always liked our old battleships; they PROJECTED the wrath of our country; just looking at them sitting out there…when we used to talk about future robot weapons, we always speculated to the large side, giant mechs striding around the battlefield squishing the enemy..instead, we’re looking at dragonflys and spiders now. Cool, but kind of a let down.
