Video: Increasingly irritating fringe candidate taunts Obama

Enough already, please. I can tolerate him whoring for attention, but the derisive, condescending laughter from such an abrasive crank of a candidate is too much. What’s that he says during the bleeped part? And what’s Ron Paul doing there at the end? Is there anything remotely coherent left to these jerky, self-consciously “hip” videos he keeps crapping out?

Blowback

The funny thing is that I have no idea who that moron is.

ErikTheRed on May 2, 2008 at 7:48 PM

Looks to me like Gravel “fired up” something and is stoned in this clip.

EJDolbow on May 2, 2008 at 7:49 PM

Bloody hell!

TheSitRep on May 2, 2008 at 7:50 PM

Mike Gravel makes Ron Paul and Barack Obama look amazing.

But seriously Gravel, I miss that video of you throwing a rock into a pond.

Flashback of a really bad LSD trip (from the ’60s) maybe?

CyberCipher on May 2, 2008 at 7:52 PM

I believe you have been fired up Mr. Gravel.

I did enjoy it though. He is too cool for school.

VolMagic on May 2, 2008 at 7:56 PM

Is that some sort of Ron Paul endorsement or was it just a case of Gravel being allowed to play with the video camera and iMovie after taking a couple too many hits of LSD again?

malan89 on May 2, 2008 at 7:56 PM

Mike Gravel makes Ron Paul look sane….and like a viable candidate.

malan89 on May 2, 2008 at 7:57 PM

I don’t know, Allah. I found it kind of amusing. Of course, that could be the whiskey talking. Plus, I don’t watch as much of this crap as you have to wade through on a daily basis…

prolix on May 2, 2008 at 7:57 PM

One more….Does this go under the “I suffered, so you do too!” category?

malan89 on May 2, 2008 at 7:57 PM

Say goodnight to the Libertarian Party. Oh well.

Hannibal Smith on May 2, 2008 at 7:58 PM

Am I the only one who sees the irony of a video demanding issues that discusses absolutely none?

Dennis_Second_Thots on May 2, 2008 at 7:58 PM

I’m confused.

I mean … more than usual.

Professor Blather on May 2, 2008 at 8:02 PM

Man, I would love to be able to see this and have no freaking idea who Gravel was. I’d be soooo confused and amused :)

BJ* on May 2, 2008 at 8:08 PM

Briefing through his Wikipedia entries, note that he’s gone Libertarian from Democrat, late March 2008. Hey, at least Mike Gravel campaigned AGAINST Cynthia McKinney. Mike Gravel is devoted currently to the federal initiative ballot, differentiating his ideas from those of the DNC that merely floods illegal aliens into the voting booths via voter registration drives that spawn initial “documentation” of residency, illegal into legal under the cover of citizen rights being squandered like pearls before swine. If the DNC has its way, and Gravel’s ideas were to occur as well, what chaos to have the world voting to determine the destiny of the USA.

LOL it’s the “True Liberal” from the dem primary. The Left’s Ron Paul.

funky chicken on May 2, 2008 at 8:10 PM

What in all that is holy was that? I thought Gravel was against torture.

amerpundit on May 2, 2008 at 8:11 PM

He can always campaign for fellow Libertarian Bob Barr.

Dawnsblood on May 2, 2008 at 8:12 PM

I prefer the video where he craps in his spandex pants.

dawgyear on May 2, 2008 at 8:13 PM

Blame Canada and France.

Born and raised in Springfield, Massachusetts to French-Canadian immigrant parents…

and yes he has spawned.

Gravels, come get yer grampa!

baldilocks on May 2, 2008 at 8:18 PM

Looked like a Timothy Leary trip. Maybe I’m having flashbacks or something. Was it supposed to be so choppy?

Geronimo on May 2, 2008 at 8:18 PM

OT…Laura Ingraham subbing on the Factor has hoisted the chalic of Messiah KoolAid to her lips and quaffed a mouthful of racial healing that only Obama can provide…good night America, its been nice!

Sadly it appears that way, could MM be similarly infected?

dmann on May 2, 2008 at 8:26 PM

And to think this nut, and his equally nutty supporters believe he is presidential material. Goodness!!!

A stone cold traitor who now pretends to be a clown. Deserves the Tarpeian Rock treatment as far as I’m concerned.

The guy reminds me of Marshall Applewhite:

Do you two really not understand what she did to him in the TPM? Really?

TheBigOldDog on May 2, 2008 at 8:41 PM

I gotta give Gravel props for playing drum n bass music (hence my nickname)throughout the video! Big ups for the DJ!

Jungliszt on May 2, 2008 at 8:49 PM

Yes let’s debate the issues.

Like power to the people, giving peace a chance, why George W. Bush ain’t no dancer, and whether we want him to love us.

But I imagine when we actually ask him, he’ll just complain that no one ever asked him earlier.

Dennis_Second_Thots on May 2, 2008 at 7:58 PM

I got it! I thought it was cleverly done…

DfDeportation on May 2, 2008 at 9:02 PM

Got a question. If Harry Reid walked into the NYT with a copy of the secret strategy behind Operation Iraqi Freedom and had them publish it, WORD FOR WORD, what would you think of Harry Reid?

Limerick on May 2, 2008 at 9:06 PM

What is… why would… is he… what are…

WHAT ON GOD’S GREEN EARTH WAS THAT???

Is there somone- ANYONE- on this planet who saw this and thought “Oh, he looks presidential! I’m voting for Gravel!” Did Gravel make this all by himself and put it up on the net without asking any sane people if they thought it was a good idea first?

There is a certain segment of the “small l” Libertarian population that identifies with them on one main issue- legalizing weed. Looks like Gravel was performed a bit too much research on the matter.

Laura indicted the 27% of Black America that believe the Rev. Wright crap and called on the Messiah to challange this insanity. To me this is a strategy that would portray Obama as the Messiah of racial healing using nothing more than the empty platitudes of Hope and Change. Enough sheepeople suck on the Obama tit already regardless of his lack of substance, his hypocrisy, his pandering, his hard leftist agenda without Ingraham tossing him a potential out disguised as the healing of Americas wounds brought about by the original sin of slavery. Lauras take is a win-win for Obamam if he actually listened and acted on her advice.

dmann on May 2, 2008 at 9:19 PM

dmann on May 2, 2008 at 9:19 PM

which is exactly what he’s trying to do, with poor success thus far. Why on earth would she and Gingrich want to thow this charlatan a life rope? He obviously wasn’t ever outraged until he figured out that his 20 year support of racist conspiracy theories might hurt his electoral chances.

funky chicken on May 2, 2008 at 9:36 PM

funky chicken on May 2, 2008 at 9:36 PM

Agreed, I can not for the life of me figure this out other than to SHOUT racial guilt! It seems race trumps everything, these public pundits are hedging there bets, covering all bases…they all suck!

dmann on May 2, 2008 at 9:43 PM

Maybe its just the national level that has failed to be honest. Here in the Boston area the likes of Michael Graham, Jay Severin and other talk radio pundits have taken off the politically correct gloves and are pounding Obama for the light weight race baiting communist he truly is. The elephant in the room that most national talking heads can not or refuse to see is the DNC and Obamas brilliance in using race to guilty honkey town into submission.

MadisonConservative on May 2, 2008 at 10:55 PM

dmann on May 2, 2008 at 9:19 PM

What she did was call his bluff. She exposed his hypocrisy and she laid down a challenge he can not possibly take up.

She exposed some of the major reasons for the racial divide in this country, the divide Obama claims to want to fix yet does not have the courage (or inclination) to confront. In fact, he’s enabled it – hence his hypocrisy.

What do you think would happen to Obama’s support if he went Bill Cosby on the black community, which is exactly what Laura challenged him to do? The Messiah would turn into an Uncle Tom traitor overnight.

In one brilliant challenge she exposed him for the fraud he is.

TheBigOldDog on May 2, 2008 at 11:12 PM

Who is he?

newton on May 2, 2008 at 11:16 PM

He needs some kind of intervention.

AprilOrit on May 2, 2008 at 11:27 PM

TheBigOldDog on May 2, 2008 at 11:12 PM

If my math is correct, Uncle Tom would garner far more votes pulling a Bill Cosby then he would staying true to his manufacture roots. Lets see if the new Kennedy can pull off a true Profile in Courage by choosing honesty and intgrety over personal ambition at any cost. I’m certainly not going to hold my breath, there is some swampland…..

dmann on May 2, 2008 at 11:32 PM

Who’s Uncle Tom guys?

Not exactly a term used by a Conservatives…

AprilOrit on May 2, 2008 at 11:36 PM

This is like something you’d see on the X-Files used to brainwash any unlucky person who saw it. The thing is freaking demented.

vonspringer on May 3, 2008 at 1:03 AM

It’s just as AP says, an attention whore with no coherent point.
Really, how much sense does it make to go from liberal to libertarian?
Answer: none, none whatsoever.

SouthernDem on May 3, 2008 at 1:58 AM

And what’s Ron Paul doing there at the end?

Well, I do believe Gravel is a ‘Libertarian’ (groan) now, so perhaps Ron Paul is now his hero or something.

Reaps on May 3, 2008 at 4:09 AM

Has anyone played Gravel’s videos backwards to see if there is a message hidden somewhere?

moxie_neanderthal on May 3, 2008 at 7:53 AM

Oh, go throw some rocks in a lake.

Had to say that…

emmaline1138 on May 3, 2008 at 12:35 PM
