Olbermann sobs on dKos’s shoulder over Hillary’s O’Reilly interview

posted at 6:37 pm on May 2, 2008 by Allahpundit

In which the modern-day Murrow, exemplar of Serious Journalism, refers to Ann Coulter as “Coultergeist.” Read the whole thing, as the kids are wont to say, or else you won’t appreciate the extent to which Kayo is now openly embracing the worst of the nutroots’ bottom-feeders as part of his collective “We.” A sample quote:

I knew some day I’d actually write something that did not include a shout about what we’re doing on the show. And, my very dear friends, as Mr McCain would begin, this day has arrived. I’ve been startled to watch two developments anger and shake our respective Coalitions of The Reasonable, without the obvious deflating corollaries apparently dawning on anybody.

I googled that term to see if it was some sort of inside joke I’m not getting. Nope. He’s coining his own phrases now to express his reality-based solidarity. His argument re: Hillary is that she was driven to the Factor out of desperation at the fact that no one’s interested in her anymore, a nuanced point indeed in light of both the ratings and the rumors that the guy he’s shilling for these days might turn up there himself sooner rather than later. Will Obama’s sitdown with O’Reilly warrant its own Speshul Komment? Stay tuned!

As I say, read the whole thing or else you’ll miss his none-too-veiled threat to start accusing McCain, a la Coulter and Obama, of being a manchurian candidate. Objective, agenda-less Serious Journalist exit question: “What is it going to take to reignite that core of anger … over this god-forsaken war?”

Coalitions of The Reasonable

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Whew! That’s a good one, Keith.

amerpundit on May 2, 2008 at 6:41 PM

And seemingly overnight, Winchell is standing on a street corner with a handful of his columns, which he has typed out himself and copied on a mimeograph machine, and he is giving them away to passersby.

Is he talking about his career path?

People that just do not face reality. I had it out with a moonbat today who had that “coexist” bumper sticker and “End this war”. I said, we would if we could but our enemies won’t , so where does that leave us? Nada. zip. bupkiss response, other than “we need dialogue” At that point I went with the “never argue with an idiot” rule.

bbz123 on May 2, 2008 at 6:43 PM

Olby is the epitome of brain dead human trash. With Chrissy Mathews considering running for office, maybe Geraldo and Olby can team up for the MSNBC pukefest every night.

I can’t WAIT to see how he spins things if BHO appears on The Factor next.

What’s the matter Olby? Can’t get your audience with “the Messiah” on Countdown? Waaaaah!

SteakRules on May 2, 2008 at 6:46 PM

And Keith Olberman is meaningful in what way?

SeniorD on May 2, 2008 at 6:47 PM

The speech is short. But it’s the most rousing speech I’ve ever read. It’s been worked on, here and in Russia, on and off, for over eight years. I shall force someone to take the body away from him and Johnny will really hit those microphones and those cameras with blood all over him, fighting off anyone who tries to help him, defending America even if it means his own death, rallying a nation of television viewers to hysteria, to sweep us up into the White House with powers that will make martial law seem like anarchy.

Just words….

rw on May 2, 2008 at 6:50 PM

As blissfully enjoyable as reading “Keith Olbermann’s Diary” (making him the most famous of all the 12-year-old girls in the land!), the best part is the ad on the side (at least on my screen) that says “Stop the CSA.” They list a few reasons, presumably to inflame the hearts of the DKos Kids, but the best one they placed first: “They bust unions.”

Lefties are so entertaining! If they weren’t traitorous, I’d argue for keeping them.

bbz123 on May 2, 2008 at 6:43 PM

I HATE that bumper sticker. If you see one on the freeway, give the car a width berth. Your life may depend on it — because the driver is clearly too d*mn stupid to be operating a motor vehicle.

My collie says:

Too bad the cops can’t pull them over and haul their *ss to jail — it SHOULD be treated the same as a DUI or somethin’.

CyberCipher on May 2, 2008 at 6:51 PM

Blake on May 2, 2008 at 7:27 PM

What is this goofball thinking? Sen. Clinton appeared on the Olbermann show at least a week to 2 weeks before she appeared on the O’Reilly show. I know because I forced myself to watch it. It was like watching a cobra duel with a black mamba.

This idea of trying to intimidate Democratic candidates into boycotting Fox News is bizarre.

I truly, truly hope that neither of the Democratic candidates gets elected President. Not only can we not afford to have either of these exceptionally weak, flawed politicians at the helm, but it will personally delight me to see the unbalanced media further enraged. I use the word “unbalanced” in particiular reference to Mr. Olbermann’s tenuous grasp of his composure as well as his lack of journalistic objectivity.

Jill1066 on May 2, 2008 at 7:27 PM

It’s very entertaining to watch the panic mode displayed by the Dems. It will get worse. They’re already putting out polls that they think will save them (CNN).

Travis1 on May 2, 2008 at 7:31 PM

There is literally - literally - nothing that Olbermann can do, no violation of journalistic ethics, no breach of professionalism and objectivity and fairness and accuracy, that will cause the media critics or his bosses at MSNBC to criticize him.

This man is completely out of control and completely unresponsive to anyone. Amazing really. That this person is considered a “news anchor” and is allowed to co-anchor the network’s news coverage of the election is shocking.

It’s the most damning indictment of the utter corruption of American journalism that one can imagine.

Disgraceful. Completely disgraceful.

daryl_herbert on May 2, 2008 at 6:59 PM

A pompous buffoon he may be but “more than do I” is grammatically correct. It’s because the word ‘than’ indicates a new (dependent) clause. That clause requires a subject (nominative case) also–’I.’ The word ‘me’ is a direct object or an indirect object. /grammar geek

That said, I still would use “I.” I would never write that sentence, but should the need arise.

Why in the hell would a news anchor (that’s what Olbermann says he is) or journalist care whether another network or news organization is fair to the liberals and Democrats? Or fair to any other party?

Of what concern is it to him? Is he concerned about the tenets of journalism? Fairness, objectivity, balance?

Is it some sort of concern for the news trade? That Fox News is dirtying the image of the press in America?

If Fox news was unfair to Republicans, would Olbermann care?

Who believes this?

This is just transparently obvious what he and Abrams are doing at MSNBC.

tazmebro on May 3, 2008 at 3:55 AM

Olberman isn’t hard to figure out. He, like Paul Krugman, jumped on the far left bandwagon. They are far fewer and far less powerful than assumed by CW, but they are loud and they support anyone who is on their side loudly and obscenely- the same way they discard them if they step off the reservation. About half of the leftwingnutroots (the Hillary backing side) hates Olberman’s guts because he’s such a shill these days.

Its fun to see their shrill hatred aimed at each other this season. If only it could last until November.

I cannot believe the United States would elect either of those people. They just aren’t the type of candidates that ever get elected, and I don’t mean sex or race.
