Video: “Incredible Hulk,” trailer two

posted at 2:35 pm on May 1, 2008 by Allahpundit

Better than trailer one, but it seems cookie cutter even by superhero movie standards. “Hero battles the military” sequence? Check. “Hero and nemesis wreak havoc on city” sequence? Check. Didn’t “Transformers” just do this? At least with “Iron Man” you’ve got Downey firing off one-liners to keep things moving. Those effects had better be darned special.

I think I was the only one on the planet who liked the first Hulk.

I think the storyline looks better than the first. I liked the first Hulk creature better, at least judging by the trailer and I think the cast for the second Hulk looks better.
Mr Orange, woohoo.

Geronimo on May 1, 2008 at 2:41 PM

Wow, a remake and a comic book movie, all in one. Way to go Hollywood

brak on May 1, 2008 at 2:43 PM

The first hulk sucked. Hulk had daddy issues? Come on. Hulk smash!

lorien1973 on May 1, 2008 at 2:46 PM

I’m glad they’ve recreated the Hulk depicted in the cartoon when I was growing up. Love Bill and Lou, however, they jaded the real Hulk (Lou never leaped 5 miles in a single bound0. Oh, by the way, I’M the only one who like the first Hulk

el hombre on May 1, 2008 at 2:46 PM

A little Doomsday Clock from the Smashing Pumpkins. Sweet.

ReaganEvangelical on May 1, 2008 at 2:49 PM

So, is this a remake of the movie from a couple of years ago, which was a remake of a comic book/TV show? Or is this Hulk II, a sequel to a remake of a comic book/TV show?

Keep churning out the crap, Hollywood. I’ll continue to not watch it.

The first Hulk made me hate Ang lee. Then that movie with the sheepherders pretending to be cowboys was the straw that . . uh nevermind.

Well, I’ll actually admit that it looked horribly cheesy to me, and I never saw it even though I generally watch superhero movies.

Esthier on May 1, 2008 at 2:57 PM

The first Hulk was better than Transformers. Transformers wasn’t like either the comic books or cartoon. Instead it was a dumb comedy with no compelling story line.

G.I. Joe looks like it’s going to be awfully sucky too. A Real American Hero? Hell there’s hardly an American in the cast.

It’s a sequel/reboot of the Ang Lee movie. Marvel bought back the rights. It’s technically a sequel but they are pretty much ignoring most of the events of the first movie.

Queasy on May 1, 2008 at 3:09 PM

So kinda like the newest Superman?

Esthier on May 1, 2008 at 3:10 PM

Agreed with most of the commenters…The first movie was horrible. The CGI Hulk wasn’t even done well.

Computer animation has come a long way…and many times looks really great. But the Hulk lacks something with it, much like the CGI Yoda in the last three Star Wars. Yoda was better as a puppet…more tangible and life-like.

JetBoy on May 1, 2008 at 3:11 PM

That doesn’t look like Abomination at all.

SouthernDem on May 1, 2008 at 3:12 PM

The big question is: Will there be Gamma-Powered Monster Poodles in this one? Because I think I can safely say that the higher the GPMP quotient, the more sucky the movie. Exhibit A: the previous Hulk movie.

ReubenJCogburn on May 1, 2008 at 3:14 PM

Glad to know that I am not alone. I liked the first one. Guess I like a little too much thought put into certain movies. The first was based more around the comics.

This new one appears to be more in the vein of the schlocky TV show many of us grew up with. The idea of the man on the run (which is where the first movie ended)is a good place to pick up.

Perhaps a better villain in this one will help, though the Abomination looks nothing like what I remember (more reptilian). Looks like a reject from a zombie movie on steroids.

My prediction: Hulk will be found wanting once IRONMAN hits the screen this weekend!

Dread Pirate Roberts VI on May 1, 2008 at 3:20 PM

Anyway, what are US Army sodiers doing still wearing BDU’s?

And Hollywood thinks 4 out of 5 Generals are Black…

Pass

pseudonominus on May 1, 2008 at 3:23 PM

They’re making a sequel to an awful movie that bombed at the box office? Hollywood truly has run out of ideas. The first Hulk sucked- I think it was on cable about 14 seconds after being released in theaters.

The cartoonish CGI nonsense has got to stop- if it’s painfully obvious that it’s CGI, keep it the hell out of the damn movie unless it’s a movie about CGI or animated.

Hollowpoint on May 1, 2008 at 3:26 PM

I will probably see this, and yes the first Hulk movie did in fact suck. But IRONMAN and Dark Knight look waaaaayyyy better than this.

I love any kind of sci-fi movies but;

Why is it alway’s an evil United States Military Bio-Weapon
system gone done bad,and to boot they make a good monster
Hulk,who snaps!

Then they make another monster and surprise it goes astray,
then they get good monster to straighten out bad monster!

So,I’m to conclude this is what happenes when Liberal’s are
running the show,as in its a constant screw up with the
Military!

Looks like a good movie,tho!

And some were even created by Canada.

pseudonominus on May 1, 2008 at 3:46 PM

If you watch any superhero movie or read any comic book in general, it’s a staple that the military/police will eventually try to capture the hero, try to re-create the heros powers, get in the way or be overall useless in general.

I can see where you would see that as a negative commentary on the military/armed forces/police, but also in the concept of superhero movies, you can’t have a superhero that gets bested by “average people with guns” (for lack of a better descripting term) it destroys the myth of how powerful a superhero should be.

It’s fantasy. We all know our military kicks ass.

Ace & PW are on the same server, which i didn’t know until they both went down sometime within the last month or so with a massive hard drive problem. Pixy Misa said there might be some “hiccups” in transitioning to a new server. I’m hoping that’s what’s goin’ on.

Esthier on May 1, 2008 at 4:30 PM

With 16 seconds to go it looks like the Hulk is sitting with a girl. Just sitting.

It’s less than half a second long.

DeathtotheSwiss on May 1, 2008 at 4:33 PM

On the bright side, both Samuel L Jackson as Nick Fury and Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Ironman are supposed to be making cameos in this movie.

Queasy on May 1, 2008 at 4:38 PM

The reason that there aren’t many Americans in the cast of the upcoming G.I. Joe movie is b/c the soldiers are part of the Global Intergrated Joint Operating Entity. Basically UN retards. And the villian is one of those scary guys from Scotland that are always being profiled at airports. I have an article somewhere about the orgins of the G.I. JOE toy and how the marine it was based on wouldn’t take any money for his likeness as long the toy would always be an American. If I can find the article, I’ll come back with a link. It’s worth the read.

Karl on May 1, 2008 at 4:27 PM

I feel like I’m in the Twilight Zone when it comes to that movie for some reason. Some seem to hate it because they think it’s too cerebral. Other people seem to love it because they think it’s more thoughtful than just a “HULK SMASH!!!” film.

But me, I hate it because I think it is too much a “HULK SMASH” kind of film. I wish it were more cerebral and thoughtful, but it’s attempts at being so just seem really shallow and one-dimensional. I wish the characters were more believable and had more intelligent relationships. As it is, I just think it’s very superficial and childish.

Kensington on May 1, 2008 at 5:30 PM

I think I’m losing interest in comic book movies. I read some reports on this one that things did not go well behind the scenes for the production staff, and that it’s unlikely it’ll make that many waves.

Avi Green on May 1, 2008 at 5:36 PM

Is it just me or do the special effects look distinctly bad, circa 1998? There’s not one shot of the hulk in the trailer that looks real.

John on May 1, 2008 at 5:56 PM

The first Hulk movie sucked azz, this one’ll prolly suck too. When American soldiers are the ‘bad guys’ and you’re supposed to cheer when they get killed, it’s anti-military propaganda and I won’t pay to see the movie and fund the Left’s hatred of those who defend us.

Hey Hollywood, here’s an idea for a movie … “Lone Survivor” … it’s a TRUE STORY about four Navy SeALs taking on a hundred talibs. It’s got the underdog theme, it’s got bad guys who are sexist, racist, homophobic and religious fanatics, what more could you ask for?

Dude, Ed Norton sucks a**. That slimy little cretin needs to stick with serial killer movies…I can’t stand him. Every time I watch one of his movies, I feel like I need a shower. Best part of the Italian job was when Marky mark punched him in the face; and when that Russian dude carried him off for junkyard beatings…now if the Hulk like accidentally sat on Ed Norton, I might be tempted to watch it…but as the Hulk..nah. I say we gamma-irradiate the entire cast of Reservoir Dogs and reboot that. Hulk-Blonde vs. Hulk-Orange would rule.

P.S. Ang Lee’s Hulk sucked all the ass on the donkey ranch. Before you jump in to defend it as “too cerebral” for me, consider two small words:

Hulk Poodles.
