Video: Fox breaks Bikinigate wide open

Today is May 1st, so it must be time for Nielsen Sweeps Month. Shep Smith and the folks at Fox News didn’t take long to get into the spirit of the event, either, getting a scoop in a scoop neckline. Studio B breaks a story on a teacher that lost her job, purportedly because she moonlighted (so to speak) as a Bikini Babe on a fishing charter. Count how many shots Fox downloaded of the teacher in her bikini:
After rolling through several skin shots and chatting with Tiffany Shepherd, who dressed appropriately for the occasion, Smith notes that the school district claims that they fired her for poor attendance, not for her second job. Ms. Shepherd scoffs at the notion, but then acknowledges that she missed twenty days during the not-yet-finished school year. Twenty days? Teachers have around 185 classroom days a year, meaning that she missed over 10% of her job. I’m not sure how many sick days one gets in teaching, but anyone missing 20 days in less than a year in the private sector would have been out of a job long before now.
So what is the burning national question that Fox News highlighted with this nationwide Studio B segment?
- Education reform
- Motherhood and career
- Fish & Game violations
- Skin
I’m guessing Answer #4. Even Shep couldn’t quite believe this editorial choice, as evidenced by his pained expression at the end of the segment. (Warning: video mildly NSFW)

Initially, it appeared as if school officials had their panties all in a bunch about her side-job. However, she was absent 20 days out of a 9-month school year.
How many of us working for The Man would still have jobs wih such an attendance record? Or, how many kids would pass their classes if they were to miss 20 days…?

Who freaking cares if she is in a Bikini? Teachers, and Teachers Unions, are notorious for having clicks. If they don’t like her because of her second job, they can’t fire her over it.
If she had problems with students, that would be another story.
Her attendance should be brought up if she didn’t have a not from her doctor and to top it off, wouldn’t she had her teacher’s union get involved?

Actually I have missed more then 20 due to this weird flu/virus I had at one time. I had to have FMLA, but I wasn’t fired because the doctor made sure he explained what was going on and didn’t know if I was contagious. It wasn’t fun nor was it a vacation… I have only been sick that bad twice in my life. Thank God for FMLA when it is needed.

Fishing season opens this Saturday here in WI. I’m going to have a hard time making room for bikini babes in my 12ft aluminum rig. Plus, I’ll probably have to pay double to get them to disrobe; the forecast is for rain with a daytime high of 56F. Gotta go…time to start “trolling” the biker bars for middle school teachers.

Just so everyone has some more info, my whole wife’s side of the family is nothing but teachers and administrators, seriously, it’s very weird. Anyway, her mother and sister and father all get around 15 sick days per year. Now, that’s up in Ohio and Michigan, but it’s probably not too far off the mark. So I wouldn’t say her attendance was the real issue.

Also I know how you feel. My family on both sides (men and some women) are mostly military, nurses or doctors… very odd.

I don’t have a problem with a second job. Heck, my major professor in grad school only taught on Tues, Weds, and Thurs from 7pm - 9pm so it didn’t interfere with his consulting work. Basically, the dept. chair who was tenured made the university his part-time job.

I use FF and I see a lot of folks griping lately about RL and I must say that I’ve yet to come across a single issue with it. It’s worked 100% of the time that I’ve pressed the button. Methinks is could - COULD, not is - be your system. Heck, I’m even using the evil Vista!
Folks, my son’s school has a teacher that had missed 25% of the days this year before I brought it to the attention of the school superintendent (granted, the man took immediate action and there was a remedy in a matter of hours….not days, hours) because the mentality among gov’t employment is so different than the real world & it didn’t even raise an eyebrow. Until we did.
How bad is it? She was given another contract for next year. They can’t even fire her & she’s now passed the 40% mark as I type this entry. Rushing out to find a friendly doctor to sign a “suddenly, her back started acting up” card can work wonders. I hear it was even signed by Epstein’s mother.

Sound like the school district is on shaky legal grounds. No formal reason given; no written document on the dismissal. And I don’t think the 20 personal days used is probably sufficient legal cause. Teaching is a unionized job and they get a lot of sick days and personal days. It’ll be interesting to see how this develops. If I were her, I’d IMMEDIATELY get a real shark law firm on the job and SUE, SUE, SUE!

I’m so glad my tax dollars are being put to good use in the education sector. We just have to go along with the Dems and give more tax dollars so that teachers can hire babysitters when their children are sick.

For what? I’m not an employment lawyer, but I do know FL is an at-will employment state. Obviously there’s no racial bias. It’s possible that a gender angle can be found, but it’s not a good one. All she’s left with is a lame free speech=bikini on boat argument. Unless FL has some very employee-friendly state employment laws I don’t think this is a winner.
Anyway, I wouldn’t want this moronic, self-disfigured tramp anywhere near my kids.

The point I was subtle about, is that government employees are treated “special”, they don’t have to follow the same rules. And when they step out of “their” rules, then they have no mercy.
You can miss 20 days, you can be illiterate, you can have extreme political bias, you can be totally inept…but don’t cross “their” line and embarrass the bureaucracy.

I disagree. I didn’t say she’s obese, but she’s clearly past her bikini days, in my opinion. There are many people who may look quite lovely in their street clothes, yet they have no business in a bikini. She’s one of them, though I guess I could half-heartedly applaud her for her positive body image.

I read about this yesterday. To clear up a bit, she gets 10 days for a 10 month work schedule. She didn’t miss just 20 days though. She had missed 10 days within the first month of the school year and 20 by January. By the end of the school year, it was 30 days.
