That’s it. That’s all they needed to do. Put some pie in their pie holes and not say anything that could become a raging inferno of sound bites. Now, instead of proving whether of not he has a plan for what happens after he wins an election (Which is, of course, where most Dems are exposed for bad or good by showing they’re short of an idea), he has to deal with a host of what used to be known as “Excedrin headaches”.

I’m not big on “Sympathy for The Demmil”, but if a guy’s going to get shot down, it shouldn’t be because the people who are on his side drew a target on his ass.

Yes, but the most radical group of supporters are the most dangerous. Take away the Obama selection, and it is going to be a long “hot” summer in the inner cities. The DNC knows this, and it is the “unmentionable” caveat.

NC has become Obama’s PA. He has to win this state by at least 5% and he has to own the black vote – 87% or higher. If Hillary wins in NC or she gets more than 15% of the black vote she gives the supers more reasons to jump for her in Denver.

One of the many strange things about this primary is how it’s demonstrated the difference between “shocking” and “surprising.” I was both shocked and surprised when Wright surfaced, because he’s such a bloody obvious liability – you’d think someone in the Democratic Party apparatus would have seen this coming, and made some preparations for it. Nothing that has happened since Wright first rose to prominence a few weeks ago has been particularly surprising, but all of it is shocking. Miles’ second point about the behavior of the primary voters is a good example – it’s shocking and dismaying to see how many of them are still clinging to Obama, but it’s sadly predictable. Those voters can still wrap themselves in a warm, fuzzy blanket of loving, pro-Obama coverage from the MSM, and pretend the Wright incident is merely “troubling.” The average viewer of the nightly network news, or reader of the New York Times, didn’t know exactly what Wright said until yesterday – they just thought he was a “controversial” or “outspoken” black preacher. Today, those primary voters are closer to where the rest of us were three weeks ago, nervously sizing Obama up and wondering if he’s a radioactive walking corpse.

Anyone else think this is going to be a Clinton-Obama ticket?

Not any more, because Obama is a radioactive walking corpse. It also seems pretty unlikely that Hillary could run such a bruising primary campaign against Obama, then turn around and tap him for veep. He’s totally unqualified to be the president and hopelessly out of touch with America, but he’ll do just fine in the number two slot? Even the media’s legendary short attention span would be hard-pressed to make that something the electorate could swallow. Also, I don’t see how the Obama saga could end with him in a position to accept the veep slot. He can’t be allowed to reach the convention, then be voted down by the superdelegates – the Dems would have riots in the streets, and lose at least a big chunk of the black vote. They need him out of the race before the convention – completely out of the race, as in a tearful resignation speech where he formally ends his campaign, apologizes for the damage he did by supporting Wright all those years, and strongly endorses Hillary.

I don’t see it in the cards. I think it might have been possible a couple of months ago but not anymore. Here’s why:

Unless they loose, she can’t go for the top slot until 2016. Folks tend to vote for the prez not the VP and they would have to consider the fact that large segments of the labor vote will likely switch from Clinton to McCain who have been turned off by the Ayers & Wright fiasco.

She carries the labor Democrats but it may not satisfy liberal wing and black electorate who see this as having been a gerry-rigged, backroom deal to take it away from Obama. They likely stay home. But I also think Obama might actually be a net loss for the ticket b/c of defections among the labor vote to McCain over the character issue.

Anyway you go I think the ticket is a looser. Obama’s political career is mortally wounded on the national level. Three weeks ago I would have said that Hillary’s best option would be to knee-cap Obama but the damage is done. He’s toast. She just needs to keep running hard to solidify her spot as the heir apparent and then run again in 4 years.

If this happens and they win, I see a drive-by shooting in Hillary’s future.

I think the black vote will be key in NC. If there’s a poor turnout for Obama from that segment and/or Hillary gets a more than insignificant portion of that vote, it might alleviate the DNC’s greatest fear — that they’ll lose their major victimology constituency if they dump Obama.

Of course, there are a couple of thousand Ron Paul signs stuck in the ground, but that’s another story.

Nope. Same story. Enthusiasm does not automatically equal victory. Obama had more signs and more enthusiasm in Pennsylvania too. The Code Pinkos have plenty of enthusiasm and the Lefties in general always turn out bigger crowds. Regular Americans just show up and refuse to vote for them.

I shudder to think how much pain can be inflicted on a VP that is hated by the President. Funerals in South America and Africa for tin-pot dictators. Girl Scout jamborees in August. Crushing anonymity. Back row seating for everything. Scapegoat for every single thing that goes wrong. All designed to guarantee that his career ends in misery, with no hope of ascending.

I believe that was always Hillary’s 2008 Game Plan.
But she didn’t expect her hand-picked VP to challenge her for the P slot.

I’ll be voting in NC, for Clinton.

Obama’s problems have been out there for months, for those who took the time to look.

I’ll be voting for McCain in November, but in a year when the demographics and political currents are against him, I’d rather he be running against the “best” (choke, cough) the Dems have to offer, not the worst.
