There is scientific evidence that we are indeed headed for a cooling period per Dr. Patterson of Canada who did a study using core sample in northern Canada. It follows the climate model in this article, but shows it is not a dip in temperature during an actual warming period as these gentlemen want us to believe.

This is the alarmist's attempt to maintain their global warming fantasy in the face of a cooling world. It is actually possible for an oscillation of cold ocean surface water to mask global warming (where an active sun is raising the average temperature of the oceans), and it even happened a mere 60 years ago (between 1940 and 1960), but this is NOT what is happening now. Instead, have a very dangerous situation where the cooling effect of a fall off in solar activity is being compounded by cold Pacific and Atlantic oscillations. Warming effects incur negative feedbacks that make them self limiting. Not so with cooling effects, which regularly plunge the world into 100,000 year long ice ages, with the next one due any century now. We should be guarding against this very real danger by pumping out as much greenhouse gas as we can, tailored to patch the infrared “holes” in our greenhouse blanket. My post here.

Natural variations over the next 10 years might be heading in the cold direction, Wood said. If you run the model long enough, eventually global warming will win.

Keep in mind... Mr. Wood doesn't get paid (with your tax dollars) unless he says that. So I guess we are suppose to pay all these global warming huckster for another 10 year so we can see if their climate models ever gets it right.

Maybe we should insist that tax dollars for global warming "research" be put to another use. How about we save a few billion instead of constantly flushing this money down the toilet to pay a bunch of lying con-artist?

So can we quit whining about drowning Polar Bears and just refer to this cr@p for the next decade as "Al Gore's Invisible Friend"?

And by the way, what is the "proper temperature" for the planet...and who gets to control the thermostat? Do we all take turns, or do we have to fight for it?

In the wonderous world of Algore, he could step outside and see a warm cold dry wet calm windy day, all at the same time, and it wouldn’t phase him in the least.

In other words, he is so out of touch with reality, he sees Global Warming in everything. He is also suffering from a severe, possibly terminal case of Don’t-Confuse-Me-With-The-Irrefutable-Facts-My-Mind-Is-Already-Made-Up-itis.

I would say his situation is hopeless.

Time for him to go away.

So I’ve been running my AC continuously to stave off global warming. My husband says with this new information, we should turn the heat on instead.

This regional cooling effect may temporarily neutralize the long- term warming phenomenon caused by heat-trapping greenhouse gases

That should be: the "disputed" phenomenon "allegedly" caused by greenhouse gases.

These quotes are so full of methane and toxic intestinal emanations they are probably causing localized heating and burnt nostrils at the source.
Let's just CYA for any eventuality that might disprove the theory we've staked our careers on.
Science? Not any more.

So I've been running my AC continuously to stave off global warming. My husband says with this new information, we should turn the heat on instead.

I'm going to hedge and blast both the AC and the heat. Just doing our part for the environment and all.

Sheesh. As someone said above, we used to call this sort of thing weather. Well, my family still does at least.

If such a moderation in temperature trends does persist in the North Atlantic, it will provide ammunition for skeptics, to be sure, and probably will mire down efforts to craft a reasonable policy to address global warming.

But I would add this: if the rest of the world does warm during the next decade, while the Atlantic cools, then it will in my mind validate the computer models -- the same computer models now predicting dramatic and near-catastrophic warming by century's end.

Lol..don't you see? This just validates the computer models...because they can predict the cold snap.

I find it hilarious that the "facts" are getting in the way of making policy. If these people got a scratch on their arm, they'd break out the bone saw because they'd be freaking out about gangrene.

Thanks for the link; that's an excellent paper. Figure 1 alone is worth the price of admission.

Since there has been no warming since 1998, that will make 20 years.

Will someone please tell John McCain that 'climate change' has been cancelled?

Indy, thank you, thank you. I laughed tears at your story. You are a special one, unique in many ways. So glad you’re in this parlor.

Along about 1977 the PDO did the same trick, it ended the ice age hoax. Now that it's switching back to cold, the warm scare is in serious trouble. Maybe that's why it's called the Pacific Decadal Oscillation instead of the alGore get rich quick scam?

Anybody buy the it's just resting hoax? What's normal and who gets to decide.

Say, why didn't the vaunted computer models predict the down turn before the downturn turned down? The temperatures they are a falling, and the taxes, they are a rising. My guess is taxes don't follow temperature.
