Comedy gold: Eighth-grader lectures Conyers’s wife on manners

posted at 6:27 pm on April 30, 2008 by Allahpundit

I didn’t laugh out loud until she said, “You have to know your boundaries,” but it’s the line at the end that really brings down the house. Note to young Kierra, righteous in her irritation: Her grasp of boundaries isn’t Mrs. Conyers’s strong suit.

Hopefully she and the other girls in the video clean up Detroit in the years to come.

mram on April 30, 2008 at 10:32 PM

This is priceless,I started to get worried as the verbal
combattive one-upmanship started to escalate between said
large in charge and young whipper snapper, albeit logic
young skull full of mush, but a very smart and astute
skull full of mush! That was great!

canopfor on April 30, 2008 at 10:52 PM

Kierra FTW! *clicks to watch utter pwnage again*

Conyers tried to put on the “say something smart” tone that adults in the wrong usually have
Dubn8tr on April 30, 2008 at 7:26 PM

hahahaha So true. And even more satisfying was seeing Kierra keep her composure in spite of it, and keep goin’ after Conyers; unflappable. Kudos to that young lady.

inviolet on April 30, 2008 at 10:58 PM

I wonder if she will get a scholarship from Jesse Jackson’s foundation.

freevillage on April 30, 2008 at 10:59 PM

Reason enough to make me glad I don’t live in Detroit. City leader getting punked by 8th graders. You can’t make this stuff up, no one would believe it could actually happen.

Hog Wild on April 30, 2008 at 11:07 PM

Wait, what? This kid comes from a government school? Say it ain’t so!

fossten on April 30, 2008 at 11:17 PM

Wow. The brass-butt nerve of that woman. She sooo deserved to get smacked down by that young lady. Is there some kind of alternative reality thing going on in the black community that I’m just finding out about? I mean, when Farrakhan talked about his whole space ship episode, well, but that was Farrakhan, but now you have Wright’ who is several bricks shy of a load, and of course Cynthia McKinney, whose wackiness is well known . . . And this guy (for a little “comic relief”) http://youtube.com/watch?v=IN5StQAr7n0&feature=related

I just wonder whether there is a kind of license that these folks allow themselves because their constantly stoked sense of victimhood imbues them with a kind of absolute moral authority that leads to a sense of infallibility. Something like, “I cannot be wrong, for any reason, because I was the victim of racial oppression. Whatever I do to you, you had it coming. Whatever I do wrong, I’m not responsible for, you are, as my oppressor.” So things that we learn to restrain ourselves from doing, until that restraint becomes second nature, they have stopped restraining themselves from to the point where they no longer have the ability to restrain themselves generally, at which point all kinds of bizarre things can happen. As Glenn Beck would say, “I’m not a social anthropologist, but I am a thinker.” Just sayin.

That was so worth it. Oh, that was so worth it.

F A N T A S T I C !!!

Way to go, Kierra…

D2Boston on May 1, 2008 at 1:07 AM

What…a…joke…

She got schooled and then out-debated by a child. She shouldn’t be allowed in public much less on a city council. She sounded like a spoiled child.

Some initial thoughts about this video:

1. I think I gained some insight as to why John Conyers always sounds so pussy-whipped when he speaks in that whiny voice of his! He tries to be boss man in the legislature since he is a mouse at home.
2. Detroit is a mess in so many ways, even worse than Berkley. When you have devolved to the level of ghetto talk and street fighting going on in the council chambers, “all up in here!” you have hit bottom.
3. Did the moderator work for Conyers? Does he still have a job?
4. Mrs. Conyers is nothing more than an entitled bully who has an answer for every offensive move she makes. Kind of reminds me of the Sink Emperor BJ in his prime. Where was the wise 8th grader we needed in 1998 to call him to account?

gajaw999 on May 1, 2008 at 2:44 AM

Ms Conyers is third in line to be Mayor of Detroit?

That’s like saying you’re third in line for the mayor of Chernobyl. No one gives a frog’s fat a$$. That girl should be given the key to the city for being the most intelligent person within city limits. Ms. Conyers redefines arrogance, stupidity and wasted space.

Claypigeon on May 1, 2008 at 2:46 AM

DMX Conyers

Y’all gon’ make Con’ lose her mind
up in HERE up in here
Y’all gon’ make her go all out
up in here up in here
Y’all gon’ make her act a FOOL
up in HERE up in here
Y’all gon’ make her lose her cool – With A Kid!
up in here up in here…

Pure Class…and Two Snaps Up!

Teddy on May 1, 2008 at 5:39 AM

I be lovin’ that young girl’s tenacious style.

Very well said!

TheSitRep on May 1, 2008 at 7:23 AM

Wow! Pathetic state of affairs in Detroit right now.

Hint to Detroit pol’s: If you are getting owned by a child, you have no business running the show.

I hope this girl goes on to greater things.

Conservative_SAHM on May 1, 2008 at 7:48 AM

I hope the entire city saw how that woman talks to children. She’s a psycho as well as being a crook. If she is indicative of the city of Detroit maybe it’s time to bring in the bulldozers and start from scratch.

peacenprosperity on May 1, 2008 at 7:49 AM

In response to mram’s post, it is impossible to clean up Detroit. Ever.

rondo on May 1, 2008 at 8:17 AM

I recall my home town, Detroit, being a great place way back when. Just going downtown to Hudson’s department store was an adventure. But if you look at overhead imagery of the city now, you’ll notice huge swaths of what was once residential areas have been turned into open fields. It seems the City really is being bulldozed. It’s a pity. Detroit used to be one of the great cities at one time. Now it’s just a dysfunctional slum.

NNtrancer on May 1, 2008 at 8:29 AM

By the way, give that kid some time. She’ll be running the place.

NNtrancer on May 1, 2008 at 8:30 AM

Never mind the mayoralty. That girl should be running the Detroit Lions.

Damian P. on May 1, 2008 at 9:04 AM

Out of the mouths of babes come a fresh insight. Ms. Conyers highlights that she does not even like being questioned by kids.

Maybe that’s why Rep. Conyers lives in D.C. because when she starts talking he can hang up.

MSGTAS on May 1, 2008 at 9:22 AM

If anything, she looks like Shrek. With long hair.

AlexB on May 1, 2008 at 9:44 AM

‘But you are an adult’ and you’re acting like a 2nd grader. Yep, that describes Conyers.

docdave on May 1, 2008 at 9:45 AM

Just got to say that’s one little girl whose parents should be very, very proud! Quite a smackdown!

WraithRat on May 1, 2008 at 9:54 AM

You have to be kidding me!?!?!? A sixth grader demonstrates she has more poise and civility then Conyers!! Consistently in the top three most dangerous places to live…Detroit, one of the lowest high school graduation rates 27%…Detroit, record high unemployment…Detroit…the list can go on.

Watching an immature, indignant city council member get schooled by a sixth grader…priceless.

PatriotPete on May 1, 2008 at 10:39 AM

Man, that’s good stuff.

Enrique on May 1, 2008 at 10:56 AM

Maybe there is some hope for Detroit afterall. You go girl!!

BillyRuffn on May 1, 2008 at 11:22 AM

That was AMAZING! What an intelligent young lady. How can it be so obvious to the young lady and such a mystery to the councilwoman?

She tries to justify her name calling by getting a child to admit that she’s done it before? NUTS! What’s worse is that this is at all acceptable by her followers in the local community.

kerrhome on May 1, 2008 at 11:36 AM

I’ll always remember riding in a bus out of downtown Detroit at 2:00 A.M. after working the Superbowl in 2006. It was freezing cold, yet the abandoned home crackhouses were doing a brisk business. And the neighborhood locals were looking at our buses like a wagon train in Indian country. Several consecutive blocks of not legitimately occupied homes was something you’d never think would exist in this country.

Thanks Detroit democrats.
