Notice the trend, everytime something new with Obama comes up, it’s always and I stress always bad. Obama has no good deeds or stances that are worthy of admiration regardless if you agree or disagree with the stance, one could respect the fact he took a stance. But those stances don’t exist. I think (well, hope) you’re right.

The conspiracy theory, that Rev. Wrong connived with Obambi to put on a minstrel show so outrageous that Obambi would have to ‘fire’ him, is attractive. But it depends on the “vast sea of people all across the country, people who normally pay scant attention to politics,” which Doctor Zero describes above, buying into the idea that after sitting in that church for 20 years, and paying tens of thousands of dollars to Rev. Wrong, Obambi could be “shocked, shocked to see kookiness going on in here!”

I think (or hope) that’s unlikely.

Wright faces no downside. Is he going to lose fame, wealth, or standing in the ‘community’ he cares about? No. He thrives on the divisions he imagines and those he creates. As sick as it is, his fame, wealth and standing will only increase because of his views.

I’m going to throw out a new theory on this. I think the whole thing was rigged by Obama and Rev Wright to give Obama an excuse to change his position. They found that his defense of Rev. Wright in the past month was not working out, and that baggage was potentially going to cost him the nomination. So Rev. Wright threw himself under the bus, and made more comments that were designed to provoke a revised response from Obama.

I can really think of no other reason why Rev. Wright would have gone out of his way to say such things. I guess it could be that he really believes these things in his heart, and just can’t help but to testify. But the timing is awfully convenient. If their friendship is as deep as Obama claims, I think it’s plausible that Rev. Wright would do this for the greater good of Obama’s campaign

There are a number of people who feel this is a possibility and in fact, a few that predicted it. I think Wright’s response to Obama will tell the tale.
