Yeah, I know, fish in a barrel. There’s a larger point here, though. Credit the ‘Busters as usual for flagging this and credit Hasselbeck for plowing through the aspersions cast on her “very white” outlook last week to come right back at these three Obama shills today. What you’re watching here is the perpetuation of a meme pushed not only by Wright himself at the National Press Club this morning but by our lord and savior, Barack Obama, during the key passage of The Speech That Saved America, namely, that Jeremiah Wright and Black Liberation Theology are fairly representative of “the black church” in its entirety or even, in the Messiah’s formulation, with black America itself. An attack on one is therefore an attack on all, rendering the good reverend conveniently immune from criticism. The problem: It’s a lie. I direct you to Karl’s long but worthwhile post from last month attempting to distinguish BLT, a Marxist/Christian hybrid, with mainstream white or black Christianity generally. Even Joe Klein, doubtless through gritted teeth, felt obliged to note the distinction in his post on Wright this morning, probably because of the disservice the Obamite spin does to someone like Martin Luther King by implication. That’s what Hasselbeck’s after here, although you may have to read the full transcript at NB to appreciate it.

Do you think the collective IQ of these women breaks 400?
EJDolbow on April 28, 2008 at 4:58 PM
Why does Elisabeth continue to work in this show with the rest of these libs? I as a woman can’t stand them and their idiocy.
jencab on April 28, 2008 at 5:02 PM
Man, I love a good BLT.
Especially when the bacon’s nice and crispy and the tomato’s sliced really thin…
mojo on April 28, 2008 at 5:02 PM
I feel bad for elizabeth having to deal with these three twits everyday. Pastor wright has said and is still saying some hateful things…combine that with bho’s wanting to turn us into a socialist state and it is truly scary….I cannot stand the view at all….these woman (excluding elizabeth) are truly scary
SoCalInfidel on April 28, 2008 at 5:06 PM
400 sounds about right. Behar is technically a moron. Whoopi is bright, but way radical. Elizabeth is not the dumb blonde fluff that she appears to be, but still not exactly Condi Rice. And the other woman, I have no clue what she’s about.
fleiter on April 28, 2008 at 5:06 PM
Idiots, fools, morons….THE VIEW.
RobCon on April 28, 2008 at 5:07 PM
Yea, tell me about it. The country is going through the type of mind-blowing changes there were inconceivable just a few years ago: banks continue to reel from the housing bubble, the national debt is reaching new highs while the dollar continues to fall, gas is topping $4 a gallon, and the cost of food is going through the roof. While wholesalers and suppliers are taking the hardest hit now, eventually more price increases will be passed to consumers. This kind of change happens once in a generation, or every other generation.
And you’re talking about gossip on The View? Are you kidding us?
bayam on April 28, 2008 at 5:10 PM
This is the only gig a loser like Whooppi could find. She has been brain dead for years. Without Elizabeth, the show would make a perfect case of the ravages of menopause.
volsense on April 28, 2008 at 5:11 PM
Collectively I am learning that black people aren’t really that smart? I mean that is what Whoopi is saying? Liz said it at the end, Obama saying one thing, his spirtual advisor saying another and there is a disconnect.
And now why is there a 50% drop out rate? They have the schools, but they aren’t smart enough as a race to learn?
I mean, where is this heading? These women are the most racist people I have ever heard. And the man they admire, this Wright is saying blacks are mentally different?
right2bright on April 28, 2008 at 5:12 PM
Because what you and I know as important, isn’t to twits like this, and there are millions like them, millions. Know your enemy, as painful as it is…
right2bright on April 28, 2008 at 5:15 PM
When are we ever going to get past all this “black community”, “white community”, “this community” and “that community” and really be, just simply, Americans?
All these things do is perpetuate racism, perceived or real.
JetBoy on April 28, 2008 at 5:15 PM
Both Obama and Wright believe BLT *is* the true Black Church.
bnelson44 on April 28, 2008 at 5:16 PM
I know it is sexist but if women didn’t vote there would never be another democrat elected. Hey if Ann Coulter can say it so can I.
jukin on April 28, 2008 at 5:16 PM
Good for Hasselback. She’s not THE brightest bulb but she nails the “dichotomy”.
My favorite gem, from Joy Behar:
50% of blacks will drop out of school and these people will be angry very shortly.
Buy Danish on April 28, 2008 at 5:16 PM
Yeah, I would get out of this country as soon as possible if I were you. It is a complete disaster.
WisCon on April 28, 2008 at 5:18 PM
I think a BLT theologian would argue that the “mainstream” black Christianity of which you speak is an invention of white southerners and white preachers and not an authentic black Christianity.
Perhaps that is the whole point of Wright speaking out now. He is evangelizing.
bnelson44 on April 28, 2008 at 5:19 PM
Jeremiah Wright = Rosa Parks?!
What the frak are they smoking? Useful idiots, indeed.
lodestonejames on April 28, 2008 at 5:20 PM
about a 1:30 in they speak of “alot of older angry black, and soon there will be more angry….”
why all the anger? really. why?
palefaced on April 28, 2008 at 5:21 PM
Actually, it is a good analogy. Rosa Parks caused the media to focus on her version of the Civil Rights movement, albeit only the beginning of getting equal rights (after all she was only after a place on the bus). Wright is causing the media to focus on his version of the Civil Rights movement, a much more expanded version.
bnelson44 on April 28, 2008 at 5:24 PM
There are two black women on national television, both rich, one is obviously well fed, and they have the nerve to continue this mindset that blacks are “oppressed”, and the US is an evil, terrorist nation.
This only takes any racial divide that exists, and widens it by light years. These women don’t want to hear the real reasons the black dropout rate is 50%, or why the unwed birth rate is staggering in the black community. No … they want to go along with a hate-filled little man and continue to blame America and “whitey” for the failings of the black community.
Way to go girls … morons.
darwin on April 28, 2008 at 5:25 PM
My guess: Segregation. Imposed from outside and inside the black society. Wright is hitting on something when he says Blacks think differently than Whites. That may be because of genetics or culture or both, but what he said rings true with the marching bands, etc.
bnelson44 on April 28, 2008 at 5:25 PM
Righteous?
Doesn’t God hate the sin but love the sinner?
Why doesn’t Wright DAMN the alleged wrong and not DAMN the entire country?
Isn’t that hating all the black population for a crime committed by a single black person?
drjohn on April 28, 2008 at 5:26 PM
That was a common topic at black lunch tables at the University I went to. Looks like it hasn’t changed much in 20 years.

On topic: Hasselbeck is tough as nails. That lady has earned my admiration.
joewm315 on April 28, 2008 at 5:30 PM
The only thing that’s better for Republicans than Wright, is these bimbos covering for him. Ignorance it bliss…especially with these idiots (Hasselbeck excluded).
orlandocajun on April 28, 2008 at 5:30 PM
Because they’ve been led to believe that they can’t do anything on their own, that everything negative that happens to them isn’t their fault but the result of some invisible, ethereal “racism”, and that the democratic party has taught them that it’s the governments job to give them everything.
That also explains why blacks who reject those ideas and succeed are vilified more than whites. Conservative blacks are seen as “traitors” … to what I don’t know.
darwin on April 28, 2008 at 5:33 PM
If I wanted to watch a bunch of Bullies gang up on someone Id go to the local Public SchoolYard. You learn to keep your mouth shut and your opinions to yourself there too. This show is good for one thing imo and that is to expose the very hate the Left are capable of. There is NO amount of Money that would be fair exchange for taking that kind of cr*p from these three Nitwits.

If you are meaning the hosts AND their regular viewing audience, then the answer is maybe.
SPCOlympics on April 28, 2008 at 5:41 PM
No it is a stupid analogy, Rosa demanded respect for something as basic as common respect, to be treated as an equal…the black community is being treated as an equal, in fact the pandering to them is borders on being obsessive. You have to “tip-toe” around that liberal part of the black community, say the “wrong” word (like niggerly) and you are lambasted. If you don’t bow to their “victim god” then you are a racist.
Wright is an angry man, educated and raised in a middle class family, yet he does not understand how anyone else could do the same. The wealthiest self made women in America is black, and they don’t get it.
Just because you yell, scream, and kick your feet does not put you in the same order of someone like Rosa Parks.
right2bright on April 28, 2008 at 5:42 PM
My God…grade inflation is even a problem here.
RBMN on April 28, 2008 at 5:46 PM
B. Hussein Obama has become the worst thing that has ever happened to race relations in this country. I’ve lived, worked, and went to school with blacks all of my life and I have never realized how different they are compared to us. They see everything differently than we do. I guess they, up until now, just said things to “get along” which is what we all do. The only difference now is they and only they have the luxury and freedom to say whatever they feel like saying. They must have been biding their time all along and are striking for revenge. They are one ugly group of people with so much hate. No wonder their culture is in such a shambles. They’ve used all of their energies hating whitey.
UnEasyRider on April 28, 2008 at 5:52 PM
+1. All those women are just geese, with Barbara the biggest of them all, for shame. She ruins her reputation of a lifetime, at this stage in life.

I don’t think Wright is close to being angry. He’s doing a gig. It’s part of his act. He’s feeding them what they want to hear, and throws in the theatrical performance for spice.
No different with the other racial demagogues who are fighting for market share. Follow the money, power, ego.

Even if it was just at 400, that would only make them of average intelligence, not dumb just average.
Esthier on April 28, 2008 at 6:10 PM
I agree with the above sentiment… quit linking videos of The View. There is rarely anything on that show that is newsworthy, and it serves no real purpose beyond annoying the living f$%# out of anyone who has the misfortune of clicking the links in hopes that this one time it contains something of value. It is a bunch of incredibly stupid, uneducated women yammering on about things that are way, WAY over their heads.

Yeah,, at some point you need to just stand up, leave the room and shut the door behind you. Even Jesus told his disciples that if they come to a city that doesn’t receive them,, just kick the dust off your shoes and go to the next. This show is a complete joke.
JellyToast on April 28, 2008 at 6:32 PM
I’d like Sherri Shepherd to point out exactly where Rosa Parks or Martin Luther King Jr. ever said “Godd*mn America” or invoked the “Chickens Coming Home To Roost” analogy.
Unlike Wright, Parks and King moved their anger and outrage into more positive directions by demanding change while maintaining their sense of dignity.
Civil Rights workers refused to embrace the victim mentality that seems to have permeated today’s liberal black mindset.
Just how many more generations of American blacks must be lost to this divisive “anger” issue before it’s finally resolved?
To quote John Prentice (aka Sidney Poitier) from “Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner”…
“You and your whole lousy generation believes the way it was for you is the way it’s got to be. And not until your whole generation has lain down and died will the dead weight of you be off our backs!”
Amen.

They need to, to legimize their own racism, and they are fully invested in using the BLT base for their own ends.
Aside from that, do they have any real friends and collegues OUTSIDE of BLT? Or who are not Marxists? Who don’t thinik like they do and would look at them oddly, might even say “hold on a sec, here, Hondo…do you really want me to insult your intelligence and believe that you believe what you just said?…” (with thanks from William F. Buckley, Jr.).
I don’t think so. They live in a bubble, like a number of people do. Why wouldn’t they figure they are mainstream and the rest of us crazy?
It is the same inferiority and sterility of mind that does affect a lot of people. Only a Senator should try to be more open-minded and adaptive to reality…that is his duty, after all…not to try to make the rest of us and the world confirm to his limited vision.
I thought.
Harry Schell on April 28, 2008 at 8:21 PM
I’m sorry, but Sheri flat earth and Whoopi- if they’re in the mainstream of thought among black Americans, why is this not a constant issue with the media? Let’s pray this IS NOT the mainstream, but from my experience it seems it might just be.
Also- we do have to remember that King wasn’t exactly in love with the USA (ever). The stuff Wright has said- I don’t think it’d be COMPLETELY unreasonable to think King might share some of those views.

Thus, Ellsworth’s end-run to the center depends solely on the number of mistakes he makes from now until June. If he keeps racking them up like he is now, he’s sunk; the semi-rational independent vote won’t be able to make it over the cognitive dissonance. If he can stem the tide and convert, even a little bit, he’ll be fine.
People want to make excuses for him. They want to like him. They want him not to be a nincompoop. And the independent vote will do what they’re told by the only people they listen to: the MSM.

You have to be brain dead to sit through 60 minutes of that everyday. Not just a vegetable, the whole salad.
Hog Wild on April 28, 2008 at 9:56 PM
If you sit around in enough waiting rooms, this is the kind of pap that gets drummed into the viewing public’s head 24/7. Whether one is at an airport forced to accept CNN’s slant or in the customer service area at car dealership, such idiocy is inescapable. And the drones who watch this drivel by choice consider themselves thinking people.
Interspersed with the inane program content are multiple ads promoting every pharmaceutical product imaginable. No wonder viewers see national health care and government nannyism as an inalienable right.

Glad you’re happy. (If you were being sarcastic, then so was I. If you weren’t, then I wasn’t.)
But to the point of the thread–Rev Wright used this “you don’t understand the black church” line to answer the question (from Chris Wallace?) whether or not he really believed that the US gov created AIDS to kill black people. So understanding the black church means accepting that they are delusional, or that they are pathological liars, or that they are exempt from the truth? Maybe the black church is a post-modern concept with its own construction of what truth means? WTF? How do these hustlers get away with this smoke and mirrors crap?
