Video: Bush at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner
posted at 1:31 pm on April 27, 2008 by Allahpundit
Mostly a highlight reel, but still worth it. The best jokes are at Cheney’s expense.
If you’re looking for where he conducts the Marine band, skip ahead to halfway through clip two.
Update: People are complaining that the clips don’t work but they’re playing fine for me. I’m using the latest Firefox and Flash updates. If you haven’t updated recently, now’s a fine time.
Update: If you can’t get RedLasso to play, try watching the RealMedia version on C-SPAN’s website. Ironically, I can’t get that to play.

Red Lasso isn’t working, of course.
lorien1973 on April 27, 2008 at 1:38 PM
I get the coveted “Sorry- an error has occurred”.
GoodBoy on April 27, 2008 at 1:39 PM
I get that and then Firefox frequently hangs.
FloatingRock on April 27, 2008 at 1:47 PM
Red Lasso stinks. Why do you use it?
Maxx on April 27, 2008 at 1:50 PM
This would have been interesting to watch. Pity it’s on a site that doesn’t work.
evilned on April 27, 2008 at 1:52 PM
‘Tis working for me.
kc8ukw on April 27, 2008 at 1:54 PM
Good laughs.
Limerick on April 27, 2008 at 2:01 PM
It doesn’t work in IE either. It says socket error on Red Lasso’s side. It’s a server issue; not a client issue. It may work for some people though. RL might just be getting a lot of traffic right now.
lorien1973 on April 27, 2008 at 2:02 PM
Xp +IE here….I never have problems with RL.
Limerick on April 27, 2008 at 2:06 PM
OK Allah, you were right, I got the update of flash player and it seems to work fine now. Sometimes I hate doing updates because you never know what the software is going to do. But this update seems to have worked fine and was quick and so far painless.
Maxx on April 27, 2008 at 2:07 PM
I didn’t update and it started working for me :P
lorien1973 on April 27, 2008 at 2:10 PM
I watched that live last night. It looked like he was having a lot of fun conducting the US Marine Corp Band.
I think GW is a genuine guy and will be remembered as Courageous and unflinching. I like him.
Zorro on April 27, 2008 at 2:12 PM
The joke about Hillary and Obama not being there(sniper fire and being at church) was a hoot.
Zorro on April 27, 2008 at 2:13 PM
Both clips worked for me, and I’m glad they did. Bush, in this atmosphere, is beyond likable. I hope history redeems him.

Bush was pretty funny, his delivery isn’t too bad. The actual comedian (I think it was Craig Ferguson) was better than last years. You could tell they were still trying to play it safe after Colbert but Ferguson actually made some pretty funny anti-administration jokes. Good for him.
crr6 on April 27, 2008 at 2:24 PM
Does RedLasso EVER work?
wordwarp on April 27, 2008 at 2:29 PM
Outstanding ! In spite of his faults, we’re going to miss W. when he’s gone.
Maxx on April 27, 2008 at 2:29 PM
AP, both clips are down for me also. If you can find a video of Craig Ferguson who spoke right after Bush, it would be a very good one to imbed along with these. Here is an article about him telling the NYT to “Shut The Hell Up“

People need to learn how to refresh. (f5)

Click over to Redlasso and watch Craig Fergerson’s stand-up. The best part is watching the audience squirm when he rips into the New York Times, calling them a a bunch of santamonious hippocrates.
Rod on April 27, 2008 at 2:38 PM
AHHH, I found them
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
abinitioadinfinitum on April 27, 2008 at 2:43 PM
No doubt about it but Craig is in the lib tank, but that doesn’t bother me. He told his non-voting viewers the other night to shut the hell up too. As a new citizen he is all full of enuthsiasm at what America DOES put on the table. Good for him.

Fergerson’s rip on the NY Times is at the above at 3:30
Rod on April 27, 2008 at 2:45 PM
I’ll miss him and his humor. I thank the President for his service.
jencab on April 27, 2008 at 2:50 PM
I’ve only done a little testing so far but it seems that my constant problems with RedLasso hanging Firefox resulted from a conflict with an IP filtering application called PeerGuardian, which is bit-torrent related.
FloatingRock on April 27, 2008 at 3:00 PM
My favorite comment on this event at the ABCnews site…
“megalomaniacnouna”, anyone? Is it contagious? Should I call my Medicare health provider for a screening?

OOps
Part 3
abinitioadinfinitum on April 27, 2008 at 3:06 PM
No trouble here with RedLasso. That was quite enjoyable. Well, except maybe for Bush singing (around 3:40 of the second video).
Bigfoot on April 27, 2008 at 3:11 PM
That was really great, Craig Ferguson and the President were charming.
Savage on April 27, 2008 at 3:18 PM
thanks for the videos.
eight wild, long years.
he did give it everything he had.
jimmer on April 27, 2008 at 5:11 PM
Neither clip loading.
corona on April 27, 2008 at 5:41 PM
I love that guy. The crack about Hillary and Obama was probably the best joke he’s ever told.
I won’t miss his administration, that’s for sure. However, I will miss him as a guy.
MadisonConservative on April 27, 2008 at 6:24 PM
WOW. You could hear a pin drop for most of his speech, after his remarks about the NYT and whiny anti-Americans.
MadisonConservative on April 27, 2008 at 6:50 PM
sorry allah – red lasso is the worst
– it is the most miserable part of this site
alabudboy on April 27, 2008 at 7:28 PM
Pamela Anderson and Mitt Romney? What a pair!
Mitt’s OK too.
Hummer53 on April 27, 2008 at 7:40 PM
I’d like to watch, but Red Lasso has again had a “failed to connect” error.
irishspy on April 27, 2008 at 8:39 PM
I love that man. And I am going to miss the Bush Administration years. W and Cheney are the genuine articles, and the nation will come to realize the unstinting service they have given to our country. True patriots.
Best line: That he and Dick will be forming their own band, the Bastards from Hell.
The peephole section was a hoot, too.
onlineanalyst on April 27, 2008 at 9:38 PM
President Bush is one of the funniest, and probably most fun guys to be around I have ever seen. There is no possible way there is an evil bone in his body. Only a blind person can fail to see that George W Bush is an honest, decent Man, with the ability to laugh at himself, make fun of the dumb things he may have done, find the lightheartedness in 8 yrs of difficult circumstances, and absolutely, positively LOVES every Man and Woman in the uniform of this country. I am 100% convinced that he feels every loss personally, and that he grieves harder than all except the immediate families of our dead and wounded over their loss.
He is a fine Man, and one I will be proud to have had in charge of my country, and my service, even if only for a short time. And I would follow him to Hell and Back. Where he leads, I would gladly follow.

Wonderful clips!
I love these dinners. It’s proof to me of the strength of our democracy. At the end, we are all brothers and sisters, and we can laugh with and at each other without fear of political catastrophe.
What a country!
PattyJ on April 27, 2008 at 9:51 PM
abinitioadinfinitum,
And the Craig Ferguson clips were pretty funny too. It was very gratifying to see the digs on the press go right over their heads while I recognized each one. Proof that a comedian is smarter than a journalist, and humor is the universal language, reaching many more folks than any news media possible.

Amy Proctor on April 27, 2008 at 10:29 PM
Hilarious. Especially w/the President singing. LMAO
Dubn8tr on April 27, 2008 at 11:10 PM
The quintesscential American… a velvet glove of graciousness, self-effacing humor to his friends and even his personal enemies, covering a steel fist of terrible and deadly resolve to the enemies of freedom.
I remember the Clintons and the Gores parading on the first day of their administration to the “Fanfare for the Common Man”… what ironic pretension!
This is a real American man.
drunyan8315 on April 28, 2008 at 1:22 AM
I laughed, but it was mixed with tears and sadness.
The man is truly a class act and I feel it’s an end of an era in more ways than one. He has withstood so much more than any other President in recent history, yet NEVER given much credit for what he has done RIGHT.
He has always been a true patriot and LOVES this country with all his heart, which he proudly wears on his sleeve.
God Bless you Mr.President.

GW stands for “great wit”…, right…?

Will miss the man, glad he was the first President I was able to vote for.

I could not have said it better myself. God speed, Mr. President.
