Video: The Bad Samaritan

Via WJNO. Yes, the man on the sidewalk is having a seizure; yes, he’s dressed in fatigues (for good reason); no, the guy hovering over him is not offering assistance. Not since l’affaire Ellensburg has such petty yet overwhelming jackassery been caught so redhanded. Steel yourself for a taste of bile, then proceed.

What a nice gentleman.

I hope the other guy was alright

Until we return to the kind of civilization that would deliver a beating with a lead pipe to that kind of filth, and move away from one that punishes people more for putting books in toilets, we’re headed for total collapse.

I’m pretty sure the thief’s civil rights were violated in some way.

GITMO for this thug.

subbottomfeeder on April 24, 2008 at 4:03 PM

I didn’t actually expect him to rob the guy. The way he walks up to him as if he had planned to do it before even checking if he was okay, it’s all so perfect…. I’m going to hell.

What a piece of sh!t…

What an A$$HOLE! I hope he get what’s coming to him.

The ROTC kid, wow, talk about feeling bad. I wonder what made him go into seizure mode. You can see something on the ground I am sure he had it in his hand before he went into the mode. :( Jesus, I feel bad for that kid.

K, let me try this again without a vile comment. Brain filter /.
Nothing like kicking someone while they’re down, eh?
I can’t understand how some could be that cold and selfish.
I’m glad I can’t. It means my parents did something right.

umm, let’s see, how can we spin this. Oh, I know. If Bush hadn’t sent this country into an illegal war, one of his drones wouldn’t have been there to intice this poor, unsuspecting, usually law abiding, upstanding patriot just looking for a way to put a few crumbs of food on the table of his desperately hungry family. It’s fine upstanding people like this, that Bush has driven to crime. Ya, that’ll be the story.

oakpack on April 24, 2008 at 4:11 PM

The dirt bags that just by and watched are just as guilty.
This makes me sad and beyond.

ORrighty on April 24, 2008 at 4:18 PM

At least it has a happy ending. The guy is caught and hopefully gets what he deserves.

And I don’t get the mentality either. Some people simply are not moved by another person’s plight.

left lunatics will say “Wow he must have been really desperate to have to do that. It’s our society that forced him to take advantage of that situation because he doesn’t have enough to eat/has a family/is supporting his mother…blah blah frickin blah.

Anyone remember the scene…I forget what it was in, where a jewish teenager was absolutely racked with guilt for wearing a pair of boots he took off of a corpse in a concentration camp?

THAT is desperation. Seriously…This gets me hot, like angry warm.

I don’t see anyone on camera see the whole thing happen and do nothing.

There’s one guy carrying a bag who walks out just as the thief approaches the kid, but at that point it’s easy to assume he’s there to help. It’s not until that guy has walked away in the opposite direction that the wallet is stolen.

Then, as soon as the cop, or security guard or whatever he is, sees the student, he rushes over to help.

Is our world getting more sick and twisted by the day or do we just see it more because of the net and technology? I personally think our world is out of control. I feel like I’m in a twilight zone skit almost everyday now.

abinitioadinfinitum on April 24, 2008 at 4:36 PM

And some insist that there’s no good and evil in this world.

Entelechy on April 24, 2008 at 4:37 PM

Maybe if Dallas would pay their police officers a decent salary they wouldn’t have to be RATIONING out patrol time.
Dallas has a serious shortage of officers. The city council is too busy defending itself from Federal prosecution to give a rats ass about it’s own citizens and guests. Business tax breaks? Forget it! That is why downtown Dallas is a ghost town after dark.

Hint to visitors….downtown Fort Worth is just 22 miles away. Window shop at 2am if you like. If you get lost there are plenty of nice police officers nearby to point you in the right direction, or a restaurant or bar open to rest your weary feet.

there have always been bottom feeders that will take advantage of this kind of situation. Since the beginning of time. The only difference is now we get to see how it happens.

It’s so disgusting to me that his ONLY apparent though was whether or not he’d get caught…He couldn’t have cared if that kid died or not…

abinitioadinfinitum on April 24, 2008 at 4:36 PM

Nah…

The world is still a good place, the only change is the proliferation of video cameras both stationary and handheld. The 24 hour news cycle hasn’t helped and the net compounds the number by 100 at a minimum.

Scumbag.

Limerick on April 24, 2008 at 4:38 PM

Eh, that’s why Deep Ellum is now a ghost town. Downtown Dallas is boring after dark. There’s just not much there worth checking out.

Lower Greenville, while still very crime-ridden, is nearly always busy, because it has a lot of great bars and clubs. Fort Worth is nice, but they don’t have a lot that really stands out aside from clubs like Billy Bob’s which really only appeals to a specific demographic.

Esthier on April 24, 2008 at 5:08 PM

Esthier on April 24, 2008 at 5:08 PM

Tastes I guess. Downtown FW is cozy. There are a lot of clubs and restaurants other then Billy Bob’s. The Deep Ellum crowd just isn’t my old fogie cup of tea I guess.

It is still all Texas, though. I’m sure it beats the hell outta Queens.

(run Lim run!)

Limerick on April 24, 2008 at 5:12 PM

Sorry. I didn’t mean to speak ill of FW, just that it’s most well-known clubs are of the Billy variety, which is a good club if that you’re into that. I’ve been a few times.

Deep Ellum isn’t really most peoples’ cup of tea as recent visits indicate, but it can be pretty to drive through and check out the graffiti.

Nah, too easy… I like Ving Rhames idea from Pulp Fiction.

Butch Coolidge: What now?
Marsellus Wallace: What now? Let me tell you “what now?” I’m gonna call a couple a hard, pipe-hittin’ muthas to go to work on the homes here, with a pair of pliers and a blowtorch.

Claypigeon on April 24, 2008 at 5:22 PM

Esthier on April 24, 2008 at 5:18 PM

Spit out my beer on that one!

Back OT…like others said all cities have their scum (like this guy). Dallas, to me, just doesn’t do enough to run these fellas outta town. A more robust police department, instead of 115 million dollar beautification bridges, would go a long way to helping the city recover.

Limerick on April 24, 2008 at 5:23 PM

The guy that came to actually help didn’t get into it with the thief (he probably could have) instead he stayed focused on the priority of getting help for the seizure victim.

It was sucky for that first guy to rob him but it was more important and good of the second guy to render help and call 911.

I’m glad they caught the POS, I hope the tape is played at his trial.

abinitioadinfinitum on April 24, 2008 at 5:43 PM

Pliers and a blowtorch would be the only suitable and reasonable punishment, of course sawing his head off with a dull machete would be a suitable substitute if no fire or pliers are readily available.

FWIW Before I even clicked the link…I figured it was Dallas.

This is the logical conclusion of a world in which no moral absolutes have meaning from one person to the next.

TheUnrepentantGeek on April 24, 2008 at 6:30 PM

Fear of Allah’s “Ban Hammer” prevents me from properly commenting about the vile scumbag stealing from the helpless!

My small town American mindset would cause me to cling to my gun (with both hands), while shoving it where the sun don’t shine, and then uttering language most sailors would blush at…

Allah wouldn’t like that (and we wouldn’t either), so I’ll refrain. I can, however, dream.

Hope our serviceman is OK.

I think it’s #2. One of my first cases as rookie 21 years ago was a man who had been decapitated by a commuter train. By the time we arrived, his pockets had been picked clean.

Although, the bible does say in 2 Timothy 3 that things will get much worse the closer we get to the end times.

tlynch001 on April 24, 2008 at 11:04 PM

Hardly. This piece of sh!t didn’t just steal a wallet, he did so from someone in dire need of medical attention. That takes the crime to a whole ‘nuther level and one deserving of a punishment more severe than probation or jail time.

If you are suggesting the Saudi way, I’d be OK with that.

Dallas is full of this crap. Recent news story about a motorcycle rider that was thrown over an overpass and 2 homeless people stole everything they could from his dead body. It’s just sick to think how many people don’t value or respect life.

A number of years ago there was a video on our nightly news here of a woman who was hit by a car. She was laid out in the middle of the street and some big hunk of pork waddled her nasty self out to the woman and took her purse. She never once checked to see if the woman was okay, just took the purse and waddled her sick self away. Nothing surprises me anymore. We are a sick society and we’re going downhill rapidly.
