The Ed Morrissey Show: Robert Spencer of JihadWatch
posted at 1:30 pm on April 24, 2008 by Ed Morrissey
Today, on the Ed Morrissey Show (3 pm ET), Robert Spencer of Jihad Watch joins us. Robert is a great friend of Hot Air and a tireless tracker of radical Islamist terror on line. We’re going to talk about his efforts at JW, blogging the Koran on HA, and the latest stories in the war on terror, including efforts to establish a Euro-Islam, and the story of a Virginia police officer who tipped off a jihadist suspect.
Now you can join the conversation — but you have to join the chat to do that, though, so be sure to register at Ustream to participate in our raucous live-chat sessions…
Also, you can use the RSS feed to download the show as a podcast. I’ll add it to iTunes shortly.

Ed, if possible would you record this interview so I (and others) can view it at a later time in case I can’t tune in.
Thanks

How about the incompetency of three FBI agents who let a suspect get their license plate numbers having a disruptive effect on the counterterrorism case?

Madison Conservative:
That would be my friend David Washburn, a premier caricaturist.

Spencer Rules! I just bought a book titled “Radical Eye For the Infidel Guy” because Robert endorsed it on the back cover.

Great interview. Just wanted to say that there is another aspect to the question, “Could there be a Reformation of Islam in the future analogous to Christianity, and a Muslim Martin Luther?”, that Dr. Spencer has addressed in the past but that didn’t come up in conversation today directly AFAIK.
I’m crudely paraphrasing here, but the gist of it is, Luther based his theses on a return to the Biblical texts and a rejection of edifices / practices that were nowhere mentioned in the Bible. Doing the same with respect to the Koranic texts tend to lead to more “radicalization” and “extremism” not less.
And in many ways, Wahhabism *is* the result of a similar reformation, based on similar principles to the Christian Reformation. It’s just that with two different texts, each representing a vastly different ethos, the two naturally end up going in completely different directions.
Which is, if you will, yet *another* reason not to pin our hopes on a Christian-style reformation saving the day. The outcome we’re all pining for appears to be more apostasy, not less.
