“We are trying to fill a vacuum.”

They should be flushed.

Let’s see:

You kill Infidels and then you say that the “Holy Spirit” shed his shadow on you, you renounce Jihad and you turn into a dove.

Bullcrap!

So you expect me to wait for you until you convert to a dovish Muslim.

Kill then convert?

Is this the new Islam they want to preach to young Muslims?

I don’t believe in this crap.

Indy Conservative on April 22, 2008 at 11:14 PM

So is the US army by turning Jihadists into dust.

“we are trying to fill the vacuum”

And ah,hum I hear some men have died this way!

canopfor on April 22, 2008 at 11:24 PM

God bless their work.

Rosmerta on April 22, 2008 at 11:28 PM

So,this could be true, but I think its disinformation!

We will probably read down the road that someone conducted
a study on this, and will find out that instead of young
muslims getting less mad, that they became more angry !

canopfor on April 22, 2008 at 11:31 PM

The IRA did the same. They still gained power!

OldEnglish on April 22, 2008 at 11:39 PM

That’s like Bill Cosby standing up to the race industry. Good luck…

I agree completely. If this has even a moderate amount of success, these men deserve a Nobel Peace Prize. The main reason terrorism is popular with Muslim youths in Europe is the same reason that gang life is popular with urban blacks in America. Its all they know, and then they see these idiot rappers glorifying it. I know this hedges on the extreme side, but the rappers are to gangbangers as Islamic “martyrs” (terrorists, suicide bombers, etc…but they are perceived as martyrs by youths who are recruited) are to new terrorists. Its glorifying something in the name of something that is false.

I have long held that the only way to really defeat terrorism is through Muslims. Muslims have to denounce it, they have to make it so that any young Muslim who blows himself up is a disgrace to his family, not an honor.

Also, I wonder what these guys would say to Ted “AQI is patriotic” Turner if they could.

jimmy the notable on April 22, 2008 at 11:48 PM

jimmy the notable-

The Koran keeps spewing out new jihadis faster than anyone can moderate them.

It is a playbook of theocratic terrorand universal tyranny.

Unless it is at least defanged, or preferably utterly debunked, it will continue to poison minds and souls and create sanctimonious homicidal lunatics.

profitsbeard on April 22, 2008 at 11:51 PM

I hope they are sincere and effective. If not, fool us once……then call a jihad out on THEM

HawaiiLwyr on April 23, 2008 at 12:08 AM

We moan about no Muslims speaking against terrorism, then scoff when they do. I say good for these men and all the best to them.

joewm315 on April 23, 2008 at 12:08 AM

What vacuum? A vacuum of power? Until they publicly, and on paper, totally renounce Sharia, I won’t trust them. I think that they are copying the IRA. They “renounced” violence because it didn’t work. The result of that was that murderers were given “legitimate” power by a Socialist Regime.

OldEnglish on April 23, 2008 at 12:39 AM

“The ideology of Islamism has sadly become the default for political discourse among young British Muslims,” says the foundation’s director, Maajid Nawaz, a former radical who until last year was a leader of the Hizb ut-Tahrir (Liberation Party) group, which wants to revive an international caliphate across the Muslim world, although it advocates doing so through nonviolent means.”

Isn’t it OK to lie to non-believers in order to achieve your goal?

Seven Percent Solution on April 23, 2008 at 12:49 AM

Some vacuum. I prefer what Robert has to say.

“Well, we are”

LIARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”

Denouncing violence in the name of islam?

Is that possible without denouncing islam?

OldEnglish on April 23, 2008 at 12:39 AM

Good point

According to most islamice spokesmen, islam means ‘peace’ and islam deplores the murder of innocents, as we heard during 911

The catch is semantics, for the ‘peace’ they describe is the absence of the war required to conquer those who refuse peacefully to submit to islam. Thus ‘peace’ is either submission by ‘voluntary’ conversion, or submission to second class status allowed to non converts.

Similarly, the ‘innocents’ who are not to be murdered are those defined under their terms so that muslim leaders could slyly deplore the killing of innocents on 911 without deploring 911 because to many muslims, the WTC occupants were not innocent. I can leap to that conclusion by recalling the cheering and celebrations across the islamic world when the WTC fell.

Compare that to a former jihadist who renounced jihad after conversion to Christianity. That has a lot more credibility because of the huge risk on going public about renouncing islam.

Ed Husain and his band of merry tricksters have not denounced violence in the name of Islam.

They have denounced the “ideology of Islamism” and are looking to create “a Western Islam”.

Even if they mean this seriously they are dishonest frauds.

I for one do not ask Muslims to denounce their belief of violence in the name of Islam. I’m a believer in religious freedom and this would be like asking Christians to denounce their belief in the Resurrection.

All I want is for them to return to their own lands in the Middle East and North Africa. Or better yet we deport them.

aengus on April 23, 2008 at 4:51 AM

That was my question, too. Are you sure? Damnit, I just want to believe Husain so badly. I mean, believe that Islam is compatable with non-violence while non-belivers still walk the face of the earth.

I thought this quote was slightly eyebrow-raising:

“But they probably do have the capacity to go into schools and certain other environments and have some leverage there because they are Muslims who were involved in radical activities.”
