Open thread: Pennsylvania; Update: Fox News calls it for Hillary

Drudge says it’s 52-48 Hillary as of 5 p.m. ET; Fox News should have exits by demographic group at 6 p.m. I can’t find the data Marc Ambinder’s citing but I’ll take his word on it: “25% of Clinton supporters say they’d vote for McCain in the general election; 17% of Obama supporters say they’d vote for McCain in the general election.” Plus, a whiff of Chaos from the AP:

One in 10 voters changed their party registration since the start of the year so they could vote in the hotly contested primary, which was open only to registered Democrats. About half of the party-switchers had been registered Republicans and the rest had been unaffiliated with either party.

One in five say race was a key factor in their vote, another one in five say gender was. Standby for updates galore.

Update: Here’s the complete exit poll data set from CNN.

Hey give CNN some credit. They called it for McCain.

Looking good for Hillary.

10 point+ lead still possible.

That’s Coulter’s girl!!

Minute by minute tho, Hillary’s huge initial lead is slowly waning. 15 minutes ago, she was up 30 pts. Now it’s 6 pts.

Hillary does an Ohio and get a double digit win. Then we get to hear for 2 weeks about how racist White people are! YAY!

GET to hear? All I’ve heard for the past few weeks from the “enlightened” people I know is that white people living outside the cities of PA would NEVER vote for a black person. You hear this left and right. Somehow they’ve all met people who have stated out loud that they’d never vote for a black person to be president. I’m from South Carolina, and even the rednecks I know down there are more enlightened than that. I think the Obama-maniacs here in Philly are just getting the excuses ready for when Hillary takes the lead.

kimberly on April 22, 2008 at 9:03 PM

7 % of Philly’s precincts just reported that gave Obama a boost

William Amos on April 22, 2008 at 9:03 PM

All I can say to the Democrat party is good luck with a radical Black candidate who lost almost every big state to a woman with 50% negatives.
John McCain gets karma payback for 5 years in Hanoi.

“By some estimates, hundreds of Republicans switched parties to keep the feud going between Clinton and Obama.”

Don’t they wish it was hundreds!! I guess it was hundreds, like in 500 hundred or 2,000 hundred

McCain has his karma payback for Hanoi…
it’s called SHAMNESTY, MCAIN _ FEINGOLD, MCCAIN GANG OF 14…

4 more years of Bush (with McCain), a CinC who is scared to really protect and defend America (like Bush), and a crappy economy…

It’s okay! If you look at his margin in Philly and hers in Pittsburgh, he only has about a 22,000 lead. That is really, really the story of the night. Most of the rest of the state is hers for the taking….unless something weird happens in the Philly ‘burbs.

McCain is the nominee and there are how many of his voters staying home because they are…uhh…aware of that fact?

The Hucksters and RP Troofers are out there voting in vain like the wierdos they are, their fevered imaginations telling themselves there is still a chance.

lorien1973 on April 22, 2008 at 9:53 PM

Where have you been hiding? McCain already won the GOP nomination; most Republicans either stayed home and ate popcorn, or crossed over and voted for BJ’s wife.

McCain will win in November by a landslide. However, the GOP is likely to lose additional seats in both houses. Quite frankly, both parties are a total mess with Democrats having been taken over by radical elements of the Liberal underground, and Republicans having been taken over by blue dog country club power thirsty ego maniacs.

I can’t believe I actually heard a Republican governor tell fellow Republicans that it’s time to put Reagan politics behind us. Real sign of the mindset controlling the GOP right now.

Pax americana on April 22, 2008 at 10:08 PM

They are panicking at the comments on ABC News:

Personally, I really don’t care who is ultimately the Democratic Nominee because whoever it turns out to be will get my vote. Hopefully, everyone who is concerned about our once great country and the destruction wrought upon it by the GOP Administration of the last seven years will unite behind whoever is the Democratic Nominee and give him/her a landslide victory into the White House. Further, I hope that every thinking person votes Democratic for every open office in their particular location, especially if the race is for the Senate or the House of Representatives. We need to provide a Democratic President with super majorities in both Houses of Congress so that the GOP will be relegated to a meaningless entity unable to stop the reforms so desperately needed to save our country. ask, no I beg, that everyone who loves our country and what it should truly stand for will remember what has happened over the last seven years and vow that it will never happen again. It’s the least we can do for the Founding Fathers, who pledged their lives, fortunes and sacred honor in creating the best form of government in the history of the world. To do anything less would be treason in my view.
