Video: Bush salutes Army captain on “Deal or No Deal”
posted at 7:57 pm on April 21, 2008 by Allahpundit
Not that anyone would expect him to be booed under the circumstances but it’s still a bit of a shock to hear what a warm reception he gets. When was the last time he was greeted this enthusiastically? The 2004 convention?
Kobes just re-enlisted for a three-year term, by the way — after having already served three tours in Iraq. Exit question: Are there any major politicians who won’t be on prime time television tonight? Click the image to watch.

I guess the demographics of the “Deal Or No Deal” audience must be a lot different than say, “The View”. I always assume game shows are taped in New York or L.A. unless otherwise noted. Was this like being filmed in Utah or did they have an all military theme or military family audience?
D0WNT0WN on April 21, 2008 at 8:02 PM
The story actually explains that Capt. Joseph Kobes had told the show’s producers that the President is a hero of his.
amerpundit on April 21, 2008 at 8:03 PM
It’d take a real special kind of ass to boo the president there.
lorien1973 on April 21, 2008 at 8:03 PM
His “ratings” joke was pretty funny.
Dr. Manhattan on April 21, 2008 at 8:06 PM
When he went to Azerbaijan?
IIRC he was greeted like Beetles and they mobbed him and everybody wanted to touch him.

I love that President.

You stole my thunder. That’s where it was alleged for a time that someone had stolen his watch.

I am watching the show right now. I hope Kobes wins big!
terryannonline on April 21, 2008 at 8:10 PM
That explains it really…that the “warm reception” isn’t so much for the President, but for Kobes…

Just saw the Newt/Nancy “climate change” commercial. I think I will go throw up now.
WisCon on April 21, 2008 at 8:12 PM
Me too.
I’ve complained at times like the rest of us. I’ve questioned things.
But on a personal level, I just love the guy. And this is what he does best. He’s completely comfortable with this kind of thing … in a way that not one of the current candidates can even come close to.
I miss him already. I hope McCain is a fine President, but I’ll always miss Dubya.

Conservatives like myself have often complained about Dubya. But compared to McCain, Hillary, or Obama; George W. Bush looks like George Washington.

Probably when he went to Liberia.
jimmy the notable on April 21, 2008 at 8:20 PM
awww, I’m a sucker. I can’t help but love George W. For all of his flaws (and like everyone, he has many), he’s a good person.
It’s almost as great as him telling the Pope, “Awesome speech, Your Holiness.” I love that guy.

Did I just hear in a commercial that Laura Bush is hosting the Today Show?

Don Carne on April 21, 2008 at 8:33 PM
He’s not done yet. He still has the 750,000 and they are tripling the amount he wins.

It’s on now? What network?
Don Carne on April 21, 2008 at 8:37 PM
Howie said “You are the ultimate American.” That was cool enough, but to have the President come on and talk to him … wow, that’s awesome … and well deserved.
Thank you for your service, Capt., it’s because of people like you that the rest of us free to watch tv game shows and post comments on the Internet.

Godspeed, Mr. President.

IMO as time goes by, dubya will be remembered as one of the great POTUS. I did not have to hold my nose to vote for him in either election.
dragondrop on April 21, 2008 at 8:44 PM
When President Bush came on,that was so cool, and I smiled!
What the MSM Liberal media has done to Bush over the two
terms has in my mind one thing only!
And that is some kind of twisted payback of Bill Clintons
debauchery of his Presidentcy!
No matter what,no matter who the Republican President was
they(the Liberals) were going to get even!
The Liberal Party made damn sure that their Revengeful Bitterness would fill up and consume all of President
Bush’s Two Terms,and of Story!
canopfor on April 21, 2008 at 8:45 PM
Answer:
Last time George W. Bush was greeted enthusiastically was when he was flown over the “Mission Accomplished” banner.
And when he gave a medal of honor to his former CIA chief who helped hanging up the banner.
After that, he is still whipping the eggs from his face.
I love them scrambled, by the way.
Exit Question:
How much Dick Cheney made this year after taxes?
Answer:
I don’t care. It’s as important to me as the Pope’s wife.
In other news, president H.B.O. (Hussein Baraka O’Bamba) announced today that If Israel attack Finland, he will send the Pacific Fleet to Alaska to fight Islamic Terrorism.

Don’t you mean, Dick Cheney (who’s daughter is a lesbian)?
fossten on April 21, 2008 at 9:04 PM
I can’t. I just got up.
Besides, do you know how long it took for the CIA to give the OK to Bush to attack and invade Iraq?
Do you know how long it took Dick Cheney to shoot his friend while hunting?
It’s the same answer for both question.
If you know what I mean.
Indy Conservative on April 21, 2008 at 9:07 PM
What’s your freaking point?

Good question. We’re discussing Cheney shooting his friend in a post about the president greeting an American hero on a game show.

BrianBoru on April 21, 2008 at 9:16 PM
Look, I think Bush means well and is doing what he thinks is best for the country. But please don’t feed me this B.S. about “greatest President ever”. We sound like some sort of D.U caricature of conservatives. He holds an ideology that revolves around trying to please everybody. He has let Congress push him around on a TON of legislation. He spends $$$ like Paris Hilton on a Beverly Hills shopping spree. Oh, but you bring up national security. Well, if Bush had gone into Iraq with a few more (try a couple hundred grand) troops, the Iraqi army would probably be defeating the last remnants of the Mahdi Army and hanging Al-Sadr by his toes. I can go on, but I won’t. The point is…..while he has been a better President than either Gore or Kerry or any other liberal and I don’t regret voting for him, we could do a hell of a lot better.
malan89 on April 21, 2008 at 9:17 PM
No, I mean Dick Cheney who disappeared two months ago while secretly visiting Afghanistan and was kidnapped by the Taliban and was released next day after nobody cared.
Indy Conservative on April 21, 2008 at 9:17 PM
Charming.
aengus on April 21, 2008 at 9:18 PM
I love President Bush too. This campaign from day 1 has missed the presence of a candidate in either party that I actually care about. For the first time in 12 years, I am voting for the lesser of the evils and not because I wholeheartedly embrace the candidate. GWB, I will miss you.
HawaiiLwyr on April 21, 2008 at 9:18 PM

Speaking of the View, I’m grateful that Allah has spared us from that crap recently!
Pax americana on April 21, 2008 at 9:22 PM
My freaking point is:
Does George W. Bush deserve any greeting? For anything? And how much?
With the exception of appointing Judges on the Supreme Court, in my opinion, Bush didn’t do anything any true Liberal wouldn’t have done.
In fact, a true Liberal president wouldn’t have invaded Iraq, the biggest blunder in American History. Whether you’re hiding from it or not. Facts are facts.
But that’s not important now. Let our grand-grand-grand-grand kids solve the Iraqi mess.
And more CIA chiefs will get more medals of honor.
Indy Conservative on April 21, 2008 at 9:26 PM

Do you normally write history books before wars are even over?
terryannonline on April 21, 2008 at 9:32 PM
As evidence by the fact he’s the president of the United States and this guy’s hero, he deserves a round of applause when he appears.
Nevermind his response to 9/11.
What was the name of those tax cuts liberals oppose? The Clinton tax cuts? Oh, the Bush tax cuts. And the SCHIP expansion veto.
That’s your opinion — not a fact. It’s not proven that the war in Iraq is the biggest blunder in American history.
amerpundit on April 21, 2008 at 9:35 PM
If this guy is writing our history books…we’re in trouble.
