Canceled: Obama backs out of North Carolina debate

posted at 5:10 pm on April 21, 2008 by Allahpundit

The official explanation: “time constraints and logistical issues.” The unofficial explanation: Team Barry didn’t want to give her a reason to stay in the race if she flames out tomorrow, which makes zero sense. If Indiana and North Carolina aren’t enough to make her soldier on to May 6th, the prospect of another debate won’t either. The real/obvious explanation: He can’t afford another beating. Your quote of the day, from the same hypocrites who knocked ABC for not giving them a chance to hear the two sound off on “substantive” issues: “No more debates!” I wonder, are the creme de la nutroots creme who signed this letter also cool with this last debate being canceled? How else are we going to reclaim the opportunity denied us by ABC to learn about their policy proposals, aside from visiting their websites or googling the transcripts of their previous 21 debates?

And before you ask, yes, Katie is heartbroken.

Update: Michael Moore says he’s not so much pro-Obama as pro-Obamites. The more they whine, the more the precise opposite is true for me.

This is a guy who says that if he were in a room full of people who oppose his views, he would convert them (Charlie Rose interview). ::rolling eyes::
Well, the tough questions came, and he alienated some voters. He could not answer a question without mumbling and complaining. So much for the messiah power of elocution and conversion.

Obama’s disdain at receiving hard questions only reflects his inability to deal on a level playing field with adversaries. Says a lot.

What a pathetic bunch of people.

“Do your jobs!”

Apparently their jobs are to through softballs and praise the Messiah.

They’re actually angry that part of the debate didn’t allow the Messiah to utter his talking points, and instead concentrated on his judgment, beliefs, and the people he associates with.

amerpundit on April 21, 2008 at 5:20 PM

The tragic thing is, the crazies will defend him for this and look the other way. Hillary Clinton could produce footage of Obama literally meeting with jihadists and giving them his life’s savings, and they’ll say “Guilt by association! They’re just friends! You can’t turn your back on a friend! That’s like asking him to turn his back on the black community!”

Can you imagine? Obama could belch in Gordon Brown’s face and dump wine on his head and they’d say “Relations between the UK and the US improved today, when Obama wined & dined with PM Gordon Brown, even sharing his meal with him; Obama restored the United States to its former glory with candid, unconventional behavior that endeared him to his foreign host.”

JayHaw Phrenzie on April 21, 2008 at 5:49 PM

Apparently none of the “educated elitists” on the Obama campaign can do simple mathematics.

Add up the delegates left in the remaining primaries. Then look at who is favored to win them. If the numbers fall the way the polls suggest Hillary comes very close to tying Obama for pledged delegates and will probably pass him by in the popular vote. Of course neither will have enough to win without the superdelegates but Hillary would be going into the convention with the momentum behind her as Obama fades. All of which negates every argument the moonbat Obamaniac wing of the Democratic party have made about how she should be a “good little girl” and STFU and STFD.

No, Hillary is going to school the Obamaniacs and the rest of those in the party who betrayed her to go worship at the altar of Obama in Politics 101. Bill Clinton was right when he said if you can’t handle getting hit then you better not get on the field. Obama and his worshipers are going to learn that one the hard way. (Watch out Nancy Pelosi! hehehe!)

If Barak Obama was a quarterback in the NFL you would give him the nickname of “John Deere” by the time the convention rolls around. Why? Because only a John Deere lawnmower will have seen more turf then he will have.

The throughline down here for Obama’s minions is that he’s so far ahead in North Carolina he doesn’t need to debate her. Riiiiiiiiiiiight.

SouthernGent on April 21, 2008 at 6:18 PM

Slight correction: BO never actually committed do doing a debate in SC, at least from what I’ve read. Our liberal governor even put out a public request last week asking him to debate in NC. He’s been wishy washy on it for the last month or so. The verbal beating he got last week in PA just pushed him to make it official that he wasn’t going to debate here in NC.

In fairness, it’s probably not necessary as he’s going to win the state easily if these numbers are any indication, but it still makes him look like a wuss all the same.

SisterToldjah on April 21, 2008 at 6:19 PM

Obama is without a doubt the biggest candy-ass in the country. His motto has got to be: “When the going gets tough . . . quit”. If he can’t stand up to Hillary you can imagine how our enemies will bounce his butt around.

Disgusting.

That jerk has forced me to have a little bit of respect for Hillary Clinton.

She gets the tough questions (well, in as much as the MSM will ever ask Dems the tough questions)and she keeps on chugging along.

Obama has one night where the questions are a little tougher for him than for his opponents and he’s done with debates.

That’s pathetic.

North Carolina Democratic Presidential Debacle CANCELLED

We regret to inform you that the proposed Democratic Presidential Debate scheduled for April 27 has been cancelled due to cowardice and egotistical issues associated with such a large, socialist event.

You have shown tremendous immaturity and selfishness in being a part of history as Democrats are poised this year to elect the first vagina-bearing or Anti-American President. However, there were also growing concerns about what another debacle would do to party reputation.

We hope your interest in the North Carolina Democratic Party will not end now that you’ve been cheated out of the debate you were entitled to.

We will keep your e-mail addresses in our database for the rest of your lives.

Senators Clinton and Obama have offered additional opportunities to be seen and worshipped across the state in the coming weeks and months.

Both candidates have committed to attending our Jefferson-Jackson Dinner on Friday, May 2 in Raleigh.

Tickets are available by signing up online at http://www.ncdp.org.

Again, the Party demands your interest in the Democratic Presidential primary. We expect you will continue to donate heavily in local and state politics.

Your voice, your vote does make a difference. But only if you are a superdelegate, so nyah!

Interesting. Obama spokesman Bill Burton has claimed that the messiah agreed to “a” North Carolina debate “long before” Clinton did. I think he’s just full of, well, hot air. There was some discussion of other debate locales and dates (including one here in Charlotte) but I don’t recall reading anything at Charlotte.com about Obama agreeing to debate her here, only that he was considering it but was bumping up against “scheduling issues.”

New ad in North Carolina on the way for Hillary: Barak is a scaredy cat, can’t handle the pressure, etc…

If I see one more ad for either of them, I will definitely lose those extra 5lbs I need to lose. It’s hard to eat supper while they talk lie on TV.
