I’ve been doing that for a while now. It can be a challenge, and you will spend a whole lot more for most of the stuff you buy. I have found quite a bit of good and not overpriced cookware that is made in Italy or Spain. Most of the Calphalon cookware I’ve seen lately (used to all be made in Ohio) was from China. To buy an iron that’s not made in China you can choose from Rowenta (German) or Oreck (USA).

There’s a backpack company up in Minnesota that makes travel bags and kiddie book bags…also not cheap.

You will spend a lot more time shopping in addition to more money. But I find it’s worth it. I’m happy to help you if you like.

There are even reports that manholes in Britain have been disappearing to feed the monstrous appetite for scrap steel in the other side of the world.

China is spending 35 times as much on crude oil as it did eight years ago, and 23 times as much on copper.

As it builds gleaming skyscrapers on its fields, China alone consumes half the world’s cement and a third of its steel.

What is happening is so extraordinary that economists have had to invent a new word for it – this is not an economic cycle, but a supercycle, a shift in the world economy of historic proportions.

I’m boycotting the Olympics due to China hosting them. I’m boycotting any and all merchandise I know is made in China (that’s could be a tough one). I refuse to watch the Olympics, I refuse to purchase any Olympics memorabilia and/or merchandise, and I refuse to patronize any and ALL of the advertizers during the Olympics.

And I will strongly urge everyone I know, and I urge everyone else in the free world, to do the same.

Why do I get the feeling that you don’t like Mugabe? :)

Mugabe should be dealt with the barrel of a gun, regardless of who does it. Also, after his death his body should be drawn and quartered. Then each limb should be individually tortured. The arms should be systematically dipped repeatedly in acid and the legs should be sprayed with a flamethrower over and over. The torso should be impaled with rusty wheat thresher until you could throw a basketball through it. Then with the head it should be hoisted off of Kilimanjaro into a pack of wild Hyenas.

There is a reason Mugabe hates the British so much, there is also a reason that many of these countries in the SADC are taking their time with this whole issue. Too much pressure from the West will eventually result in a civil war…as this story shows, but the British don’t want to hear it.

That ship needs to mysteriously sink on its way to wherever. Washington Times has it going to Mozambique this morning.

That’s too obvious but I heard that there might be some Barbary coast pirates hijacking and stealing cargo from merchant ships in the area. The Islamists are always robing and stealing ships. , wink wink.

And as regards electronic components, we ride that tiger based on necessity. That’s probably one of the most worrying things to me about China. We need our own manufacturing facilities built up here in America. We extremely vulnerable as long as we have such a high degree of dependency.

I would suggest just becoming aware of what is made in China. It would pretty much be impossible to boycott everything. As a musician, I looked into what is being manufactured in China in terms of guitars and drums, and almost every company has moved their manufacturing there (Fender is an exception and is manufacturing in Mexico, if you can believe that). If you use any electronics it’s all manufactured in China now.

There are two Chinas, the people, and the elite. We only deal with the latter, and therein lies the problem.
