Video: Not even hip hop is safe from pro-Obama whining about the debate

Give the guy credit. “Stephanopoulos” isn’t an easy word to rhyme.

Exit question: Is the Obamessiah invincible? Before you click the link and despair at his resilience, check the “Hispanic” columns in this poll. Achilles heel?

It’s catchy. Gotta give ‘em that. “Yah, Gibson, Yah!”

Hip hoppers supporting Obama? I’m shocked.

amerpundit on April 18, 2008 at 1:06 PM

If I’m reading that second poll right, does it say that 50% of Black would support McCain while 49% would support Obama?

amerpundit on April 18, 2008 at 1:07 PM

That poll had me worried. Then I noticed it is for Massachusetts only. So how does McCain get 50% of the Black vote go to McCain against Obama? Makes no sense.

pedestrian on April 18, 2008 at 1:09 PM

Obama is clearly going to pick Bill Richardson as his running mate. Or maybe Daddy Yankee. The general election is going to be a 4 or 5 month long race-o-rama. If Obama loses, racial division. If Obama wins, racial division. Thanks Democrats!

Obama has a long way to fall and the Dems know now they have no other choice. Give it time.

So there are what 34 blacks in Mass?…compared to D.C., Detroit, Atlanta, St. Louis, Oakland…

dmann on April 18, 2008 at 1:25 PM

On the one hand, I’m glad they rhymed “Stephanopolous”; on the other, “preposterous” doesn’t really rhyme, and it’s a very easy reach.

Also, I love the “why do you say such irrelevant stuff” juxtaposed with “Quote from the Constitution.” If the Constitution is irrelevant, why’d we amend it to establish equal protection under the law?

I’m just saying. MLK is spinning in his grave; do your history homework.

Tzetzes on April 18, 2008 at 1:47 PM

That poll makes absolutely no sense. If 3 percent of the 546 people were black, that means 15, 16, 17 people at the most. It weird enough that McCain gets 50% of their votes, but how can “1%” be undecided when 1 frickin voter is 6% of the total for the sub-group?????

BuzzCrutcher on April 18, 2008 at 1:47 PM

You gotta love how mention of the Constitution got one of their dismissive “Yahs.” Even the Constitution is a distraction now? Ugh.

There’s more than you think. Massachusetts is highly segregated, so there are areas that are almost all Black. Overall it is 6.9% vs 12.8 for the US. But that survey is only 3% Black and yet is 16% percent Republican, so they must have been polling in heavily Republican areas to find that many.

Kini on April 18, 2008 at 2:19 PM

I must admit, not being a fan of the genre, that this is the first time I’ve heard “the economy” brought up in a rap. I’m eagerly awaiting to hear them bust a dope rhyme on stem-cell research or judicial appointees.

Rhinoboy on April 18, 2008 at 2:21 PM

“Stephanopoulos” isn’t an easy word to rhyme.

amos, angus, callous, cautious, anus, grampus, nauseous, phallus, spacious, trotious, viscous, faustus, fibrous, monstrous, nervous, raucous, troublous

But these are not the studious types.

Entelechy on April 18, 2008 at 2:23 PM

That kind of crap makes me really believe there will be riots in the streets if the Obama doesn’t get elected President.

txsurveyor on April 18, 2008 at 2:28 PM

They asked Obama about the economy and he said that he would raise your taxes!

Chakra Hammer on April 18, 2008 at 2:31 PM

Massachusetts is highly segregated
pedestrian on April 18, 2008 at 2:06 PM

I hope you live in the Commonwealth. My observations show the majority of segregation is driven by economic factors and not race. I have lived in several communities in Massachusetts and have found that “Green” is the color that divides!

If you look to the left of the screen, there is an option to look at actual numbers, instead of percentages. When you pick that option, it says 9 for Obama, 9 for McCain, and 0 undecdied. Apparently there is a glitch in the software that they use for calculating percentages. You’re right, you really can’t have 1% of 3% of 546; that wouldn’t even be a half of a person…

PeterPotamus on April 18, 2008 at 2:46 PM

Statistics is all about probabilities. They aren’t necessarily reporting a breakdown of which percentage of respondants answered in a particular way, but, rather, how the general population would likely answer–within some acceptable error range–based on the responses of the sample that they have.

So 73% of hispanic respondants didn’t necessarily say yes to McCain over Obama. That was likely calculated based on responses from the sample, party self identification of the respondants, party registration in the areas sampled, etc.

DaveS on April 18, 2008 at 2:47 PM

Or it could be a bug… who knows.

DaveS on April 18, 2008 at 2:49 PM

check the “Hispanic” columns in this poll

This is the same poll that has McCain taking 50% of the black vote to Obama’s 49%.

Yeah, yeah. Sure.

paul006 on April 18, 2008 at 2:53 PM

It’s clear. Most of my fellow Black voters intend to vote for Obama solely because he is Black and most Hispanics will not vote for him for the same reason. The Black/White conflict pales in comparison to the Black/Hispanic conflict. The strongest animosity is with people that came from Mexico in the last 15 years.

Zaire67 on April 18, 2008 at 2:55 PM

I guess George Lopez was not as convincing as Obama thought he’d be with Hispanics. What’s next, La Bamba playing during Obama’s entrances at each stop from now on?

dmann on April 18, 2008 at 2:45 PM

I lived there for 25 years, in about 7 towns starting in Cambridge. I recall reading one kid growing up in Roxbury say she couldn’t believe that whites were actually the majority race in this country. I think you mean Green=money, but if you are talking about Irish, there is a lot of animosity between them and Blacks also.

Anyway, its more than just money. Its also churches and who you are just comfortable being around without having to constantly be rethinking yourself. There are real differences in body language, etc., between cultures and that takes a long time to blend out. My wife is first generation Korean, and that group is highly self-segregated, and it has nothing to do with economics.

I glad to see you’ve been a proud citizen of the Peoples Republic, I still live in Mass. and have for the better part of 50 years (I spent a few on the left coast in the late 70’s) By green I did mean $$$ not Irish, as for the segregation, I will agree with the astute observation regarding first generation self-segregation. I am generation 0.5, my mother emigrated from Eastern Europe as did my fathers parents. I was exposed to this self-segregation and found it was more a function of common lanagauge and culture and not imposed by outside influence. As my generation matured the needs for the self-segregated community dissolved, we were brought up to be Americans and to embrace the culture and values of the United States and not (insert ethnic group of choice) I am a product of the true melting pot and very proud of that.

dmann on April 18, 2008 at 3:50 PM

Before you click the link and despair at his resilience, check the “Hispanic” columns in this poll.

Yet Mayor Villaraigosa and Police Chief Bratton continue to deny any race divide between blacks and hispanics.

There’s your proof.

The Ugly American on April 18, 2008 at 3:58 PM

In politics, a sure sign of how much an event had negatively affected a candidate is how viciously his or her followers lash out at anyone, and everyone involved. In this case the ultra-libs are so aware of the severe damage done to Obama in the last debate that they have no other choice but to launch an all-out attack on Stephanopoulos, Gibson and ABC in general.
They are “hoping” to switch the public’s focus from Obama’s ineptitude, to their new-found “media bias” and their “shocking” discovery that Stephanopoulos once worked for the Clinton administration.

This attempt at slight-of-hands is so ham-fisted; it’s beneath a 5year old.

RMR on April 18, 2008 at 4:18 PM

Did you notice that McCain beats Barry with black voters (albeit by one point 50/49)?

But Barry has 75% of “other” (i.e. not black, white, or hispanic).
