Video: Geraldo falls flat on Fox & Friends
posted at 10:40 am on April 18, 2008 by Ed Morrissey
There is nothing worse in television than delivering a joke that falls flat — especially when it comes at someone else’s expense. Geraldo Rivera needed a squeegee to wipe the egg off of his face this morning on Fox & Friends, when he made a joke about Arnold Schwarzenegger and steroids, only to have what looks to be every cast and crew member come to a complete halt and stare at him:
I guess steroid jokes are out. Unfortunately, Geraldo is still in.

Look, I can’t expect you anti-immigrant people to understand. /

What do we have to do to make him go away?
CyberCipher on April 18, 2008 at 10:43 AM
Why does Geraldo hate Austrian immigrants?
TheBigOldDog on April 18, 2008 at 10:44 AM
I would like to see a rebroadcast of his bumbling attempts to break into Al Capone’s vault. All he found were what could have been broken whiskey bottles.
He should have left the business then and opened up a Cantina in Tijuana.
NoDonkey on April 18, 2008 at 10:45 AM
lol at the silence
Midas on April 18, 2008 at 10:45 AM
Geraldo has long passed his usefulness as a news correspondent. His warped view of liberalism has been a bust on major networks and now he’s the albatross that Fox will regret giving air time too. When he comes on, I leave. Just another self-serving lib with a naive agenda.

King Solomon could not be reached for comment.
mymanpotsandpans on April 18, 2008 at 10:46 AM
Ouch! Pretty funny to hear the people in the backround yelling “whoa!” and the look on that one guys face. (sorry, I can’t remember his name.)
It is unfortunate that Geraldo is still around, everytime I see his face I turn the channel.

Hilarious

Al Capone could not be reached for comment. (cue hysterical laughter)
mymanpotsandpans on April 18, 2008 at 10:48 AM
I don’t think the joke was really out of line. I suspect the reaction may be the result of some “antipathy” toward the G man.
mikeyboss on April 18, 2008 at 10:48 AM
Where did Geraldo immigrate from, CNN? MSNBC? I forget.

Why does FOX still employ this head-case? Does he do anything for their ratings?
JetBoy on April 18, 2008 at 10:50 AM
You think F&F might be spanking Geraldo a little. Letting him hang himself and enjoying it.
d1carter on April 18, 2008 at 10:51 AM
Puto stuck his foot in his mustache again.
What a maroon.
redrock on April 18, 2008 at 10:51 AM
I think Brian took it to mean that he was taking Steroids and Arnold was not. I think that’s what he was raising his eyebrows about.
lorien1973 on April 18, 2008 at 10:53 AM
Heh. MM must have a big grin on her face after watching that one.
That guy is a hack.
csdeven on April 18, 2008 at 10:56 AM
If
Michelle MalkinArnold Schwarzenegger were walking down my street, I’d spit in his face? Big Man!mymanpotsandpans on April 18, 2008 at 10:59 AM
Ever since he wanted to spit on MM I have turned off FOX when his ugly mug appears. I used to like the O’Reilly Factor (still do), except when he invites this moron on. Again, I go to the MSM….same sh.t, different channel
geminicontender on April 18, 2008 at 11:01 AM
I’m pretty sure the Spitter hates all non-Hispanics, he’s a bitter one.
Bitterness like in the Spitter and B. Hussein have no place in America, they just don’t get it.
.
(lorien, everyone KNEW geraldo meant Ahnold, no doubt. Brian was appalled at what he said)
shooter on April 18, 2008 at 11:03 AM
I wonder if Geraldo would like to spit on Ahnold. I’d buy me a ticket to that show.
Rip Ford on April 18, 2008 at 11:05 AM
Maybe Geraldo will go on F&F tomorrow and brag about his affair with Marion Javits!
Larraby on April 18, 2008 at 11:05 AM
Arnold should hold him down while MM beats the crap out of him. Well, I guess MM is tough enough to take that blow hard on all by herself as long as he can’t spit on her. Arnie can help her with that I’m sure.
csdeven on April 18, 2008 at 11:05 AM
Yeah, I really miss Michelle guest-hosting. Laura Ingram isn’t bad…but Michelle’s better.
Geraldo’s only good moment came when he flipped the truthers on 6th Ave. the finger.
JetBoy on April 18, 2008 at 11:05 AM
Heck, Gerry’s spit would turn around and come right back in his face if he tried to spit on Arnie.

Cicero43 on April 18, 2008 at 11:09 AM
I enjoyed that so much, I had to watch it twice! Haha… I like how Brian Kilmead ( I think that’s his name ) raised his eyebrows at the end…
Geraldo is a buffoon.
Nineball on April 18, 2008 at 11:09 AM
He’s probably got a squeegee handy to offer to those he spits on.
O-Dub on April 18, 2008 at 11:16 AM
Loved it! Nothing like a humbled Geraldo.
southsideironworks on April 18, 2008 at 11:18 AM
that was funny.. watching Gerry fall into his own puddle of spit..
DaveC on April 18, 2008 at 11:21 AM
LMAO. If Kilmeade’s looks could kill ….
Dusty on April 18, 2008 at 11:21 AM
What a delicious moment of truth when he saw his carefully crafted line not get the laughs and approval he was certain awaited the delivery of this snarky comment. Fox amazes me in keeping this neaderthal and standing behind him. He must have something pretty big on one of the execs is all I can figure. Yea, skid marks on my ‘mote whenever he comes on as well – and once I changed the channel this AM, didn’t find a reason to turn it back.
24K lady on April 18, 2008 at 11:22 AM
the dead silence immediately afterward is priceless..
DaveC on April 18, 2008 at 11:22 AM
I’d have loved to see how they rescued that bit.

He’s never been able to cut it as a reporter or “teevee personality.” Maybe he should try a new gig by playing with his menstrual blood.

That just made my day! What will it take to get rid of this guy???

Brian….kick this girly man’s ass!!!
PappaMac on April 18, 2008 at 11:32 AM
That kind of stuff is hard to watch. Talk about awkward.
warrenmr on April 18, 2008 at 11:39 AM
The guys a puke, dump him FOX you already have Chris Wallace to uphold the liberal wing.
dhunter on April 18, 2008 at 11:43 AM
Don’t quit your day job mustache. Stick to sensationalist hack journalism and getting married ad infinitum.
Grayson on April 18, 2008 at 11:43 AM
Can we just stick him back in Al Capone’s vault?

What drugs was Geraldo using this morning?

EJDolbow on April 18, 2008 at 12:00 PM
Having watched the video it seems both of Geraldo’s comments were taken as insults by Brian. Brian was the one talking as he was doing a teaser about his Schwarzenegger interview. He stopped talking and gave Geraldo the old, “If we were alone right now I’d pimp slap you” look.
Brain did say. “Here’s a listen”, a vocal queue to start the tape. Obviously the producer missed the queue because of the loud “Whoa” and the tape started late. That seemed to be the actual cause of the silence. But Brian’s look was priceless. I think everyone at Fox News looks a Geraldo in the same manner.
Zaire67 on April 18, 2008 at 12:07 PM
I saw the govenator this morn on F&F but I guess I left before Gerry came on. (thought it was a great segment, especially Arnold’s tips on hair removal)
I too would have loved to see how they saved that. What an ass.
Keli on April 18, 2008 at 12:07 PM
DING!
He likes latino immigrants who came here illegally. All the rest, he could give a crap about.
MadisonConservative on April 18, 2008 at 12:08 PM
I think dumb bass Geraldo has jumped the shark.
elifino on April 18, 2008 at 12:11 PM
Easy, because they don’t have a mustache like his.
TooTall on April 18, 2008 at 12:14 PM
Classic. Had to watch that 3 times.
Dubn8tr on April 18, 2008 at 12:33 PM
There are about 150 posters who post here on a regular basis that could take Geraldo’s spot. The most overpaid, overhyped, person on tv.
Bares repeating, when in Iraq, he visited my nephews unit. He said it was one of the high points of a tough situation. They spent days making fun of Geraldo. They would stop Geraldo in mid sentence, look him in the eye and say “what’s that, what’s that sound”, and Geraldo would get glassy eyed with fear. Walking to the mess, stop and say “what’s that”, and Geraldo would all but pee in his pants. When talking about Gearald’s visit, it brings tears to his eyes.
right2bright on April 18, 2008 at 1:12 PM
I laughed at that…and I ain’t much of a laugher.
Buddahpundit on April 18, 2008 at 1:13 PM
After that bs with the drawing of the map in the sand in Iraq I am surprised he (1) has a job and (2) is allowed anywhere near the troops

I can’t get FoxNews here in Iraq and my internet connection won’t play these goofy RedLasso clips so my only link to the real world is you guys. Some of your posts are so funny and we all appreciate them over here. The guys here all know Geraldo is a hack and he would definitely pee his pants here in Basrah….rocket capital of the world!

I always liked BO’s Factor. However, since the lame attempt to urge pussy Geraldo to apologize for the spit comment, and the subsequent absence of Our Lady MM….I like not so much…I gather that MM pretty much told O’Reilly to pound sand in Jerry’s a$$…To O’rielly’s credit, tho, M K Ham is a good replacement…and as a side note, I notice MM appearing more often on other Fox shows, so that’s a good thing…I am waiting for someone to start a “revolucion” against Geraldo’s continued appearances on Fox…I too, click the “kliker” faster than a speeding bullet as his face instantly threatens the operation of my TV….I hate when that happens
b4lucy on April 18, 2008 at 3:55 PM
He also hates daughters of Filipino immigrants.
I wonder if he’d spit on Ah-nold.
jgapinoy on April 18, 2008 at 4:07 PM
wow. That got awkward fast as even he could tell how bad his joke was.

Now that just made my week !!!!!! I sure would have loved to see that on TV

Why does FOX have Gerry?
Everytime I watch o’Reilly and see him come on, I change channels to nickelodeon. Then I found out he has his own show. What’s up with that?
maynila on April 18, 2008 at 6:25 PM
How come Geraldo still have an audience ? Why does FOX keep him on the air ? Everybody turns off or switch their TV when he comes on as far as I know.
SIJ6141 on April 18, 2008 at 6:28 PM
Come now, ya’ll. LOL
In the interest of being fair-n-balanced, would you rather have FOX keep comical Geraldo or bring on klueless Katie or heaven forbid Dan Blather? Wolf Blitzer? How about Sam Donaldson? Point is, if they get rid of him, they need to replace him with a token leftist and Colmes certainly can’t carry the water like Jerry can.
In a way that Rush’s bombast turns some off and drives libs crazy, Geraldo’s bombast cracks me up because there’s a knucklehead wanna-be lawyer behind the moostache.
