Iraq vet: Reid and Boxer walked out of briefing with general

So says Army Reserve Maj. Will Breazale to John Hawkins, claiming that the dynamic duo were so frustrated with the general’s use of military jargon that they stormed out in a huff. I don’t doubt Breazale’s story, but could there have been a miscommunication? Maybe they left for some other reason and he simply misunderstood? Just seems like a totally gratuitous headache for them to bring upon themselves by behaving so rudely to someone in the military. Patrick McHenry ate buckets of crap for less.

On the flip side, not that it would excuse the rudeness, but doesn’t the military typically dial down the jargon when conferring with civilian leaders? Click the image to watch.

Hard to tell.

Didn’t Bob Kerrey and Lee Hamilton walk out of the Oval Office in the middle of Bush & Cheney’s testimony? Strange things happen some times.

And I would also guess that the Military wouldn’t fill a report with acronyms in a briefing to civilians. No way to know unless you speak to someone directly there.

Allahpundit, I don’t know what’s the point of this topic, seriously.

It’s like an equation with a zero result.

Indy Conservative on April 18, 2008 at 5:41 PM

Which general?

Neither Reid nor Boxer set any records for intellect or manners toward those they don’t find useful or who bring unwanted messages. It could have been the jargon or it could have been a message they couldn’t stand to hear, not a “useful” message.

Or it could be some kind of misunderstanding somewhere in the loop.

Love that everyone wants to go shake the hand of Benny – the new American citizen, not the people running for office. Bangin al Dosakee thank you for your service, welcome to the greatest country in the world, we’re very glad your part of us.

Maybe they left for some other reason and he simply misunderstood

Perhaps their frustration was the failure of the brass to use the phrase “total failure”.

eeyore on April 18, 2008 at 5:47 PM

Perhaps it is more of a CYA? As in, if you are willfully ignorant of the facts you cannot be accused of lying?

bbz123 on April 18, 2008 at 5:49 PM

The jargon he was speaking was plain English and they didn’t understand a word of it, so they left. Typical lib asshats, don’t like what they hear, so they leave.

Military jargon???

subbottomfeeder on April 18, 2008 at 5:51 PM

Walking out looks way more dignified than sticking thier fingers in thier ears and yelling “LALALALALA! I’M NOT LISTENING! LALALALALA!”

Besides, when did either of those classless douchebags ever show ANY respect for ANYONE in the military?

Comes here legally, speaks the language, becomes a citizen and gets involved in the political process. I’m bitter but I kind of like the guy.

Les in NC on April 18, 2008 at 6:22 PM

the dynamic duo were so frustrated with the general’s use of military jargon that they stormed out in a huff.

Hell even the varying branches of the military don’t even speak the same language.

One reason the Military Services have trouble operating jointly is that they don’t speak the same language. For example, if you told Navy personnel to “secure a building,” they would turn off the lights and lock the doors. The Army would occupy the building so no one could enter. Marines would assault the building, capture it, and defend it with suppressive fire and close combat. The Air Force, on the other hand, would take out a three-year lease with an option to buy.

MB4 on April 18, 2008 at 6:30 PM

Boxer walked out probably because she hasn’t got the brains to understand words of more than one syllable, slowly strung together.

Not that I dislike here or anything….

irishspy on April 18, 2008 at 6:30 PM

After what Boxer pulled this week why would you expect anything else AP?

Typical nose in the air elitist — she and Reid.

Domino on April 18, 2008 at 6:37 PM

Military jargon? These individuals live their life in a military world 24/7 365. I, for one, would prefer they use such jargon. It is, IMHO, for the uninitiated in such to learn it . After all, all reports, assessments, logistics and strategic plans are in such jargon. These tools in the Senate don’t do anything constructive anyway, let them learn a “language” that means something.

Heck, I always understood squids and they always understood jarheads.

Oh and the terms FUBAR and BOHICA accurately describe what the liberals are doing, more so than the Republicans

Reid and Boxer? Come on, they’re democraps. Of course they would walk out. Heck, I’d wager if a “donor” were on the phone, they would walk out on the Pope.

Zorro on April 18, 2008 at 8:59 PM

I know this is slightly off topic, but the red leg talk brings back old memories. The reason all those services talk the same is that they all learned at the Commanche College for Confused Cannon Cockers (Ft. Sill, where all the services are integrated). For all you incogncenti, there are 6400 mils in a circle, thus the high angle numbers. When the exec says battery one round, he means all six guns. You don’t adjust with 6 guns, wasteful, and confusing to the observer. The next sound you hear after “quadrant” is kachunk as the projo is rammed home. If you are on the other end, you don’t hear a next sound. Finally, for you who do not know military terminology, Infantry is the Queen of battle. Artillery is the King, because they place the ir balls where the queen wants them. I ramble on, but this is good for an old man.

If you hear a whomp-whomp (fire is usually adjusted with two guns, used to be anyway)) in one direction and then a whomp-whomp in the other direction, you know that it is time to bend over and kiss your a$$ goodbye.

Was it high, was it low?
Where the frack did that one go?
As those Caissons go rolling along
Was it left, was it right?,
Now we won’t get our beer tonight
And those Caissons go rolling along.

Then it’s hi! hi! hee!
In the field artillery,
Shout out your numbers loud and strong,
For where’er you go,
You will always know
That the Caissons go rolling along.

Was one of the phrases they heard “Haze gray and underway”? If Fat Boy Kennedy was there and he heard the “The Sun is over the yardarm” that would explain him leaving quickly.

So, now we’re into accusing vets of lying so we can give Reid and Boxer the benefit of the doubt? No can do.

funky chicken on April 18, 2008 at 9:50 PM

Having lived for a few years with a USAF professional, I can attest to needing to get out of earshot for a few, once they get going. They often revel in the mil-tech talk, and it gets tedious. That being said, Reid and Co. should have handled it differently.

leftnomore on April 18, 2008 at 9:54 PM

Dude, I’ve been in the military for twenty seven years and I sit in on briefings from other shops and have no idea what they’re talking about because of the jargon. Fortunately, when I’m leaving and ask others if they got it, they say they have no idea either. At first, I thought I was just stupid but even in the military, different sections use different jargon so I can see an ordinary civilian (but maybe not a congress-person, especially on a military commitee) not getting it. Just my two cents worth.

General:

“Excuse me, sir / ma’am. Seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn’t we keep the P.C. on the Q.T.? ’cause if it leaks to the V.C. he could become a M.I.A. and then we’d all be put out on K.P.”

Our military has young men and women dying and being seriously injured in Iraq and Afganistan and these two pricks walk out on them over terminology? And the American people keep voting Democratic…

From recent Mark Steyn article:

Oscar van den Boogaard, a Dutch gay humanist. . . . Reflecting on the Continent’s accelerating Islamification, he concluded that the jig was up for the Europe he loved, but what could he do? “I am not a warrior, but who is?” he shrugged. “I have never learned to fight for my freedom. I was only good at enjoying it.”

[Emphasis added.]

Dr. Charles G. Waugh on April 19, 2008 at 3:48 PM

D.C. has its own language anyway; there’s Hillary’s form of lying which is “not always accurate.” And a reduction in the percentage of the increase of a line item’s funding becomes a “cut in funding.”

And the top middle class paying the bulk of taxes is “progressive” instead of “oppressive.”

It’s a whole other world, D.C.
