So your position is that if Rafsanjani said that 9/11 was planned by the CIA and Mossad, it would be a non-story, because he is an ex-leader. I think you are wrong, and I think you know it.

For you the issue is that Iran is furnishing arms and men to the Iraqi resitance, and it is only in light of this that Ahmadinejad’s 9/11 comments become an issue. If Iran was not supplying arms or men to Iraq, then the situation would be similar to Italy, and the comments would not be an issue. I guess I won’t even comment on that stance, other than to ask this: If Iran is supplying arms to Iraq, why are they only giving the Iraqis crude weapons? Why don’t they supply the Iraqis with surface to air missiles to take down US planes, and with armor piercing RPG’s to take out tanks? Wouldn’t that be more effective?

“Our dear Imam said: As long as tyranny exists, resistance will exist too and as long as resistance exists, we exist too.”

No… You were comparing an ex Italian leader with a current Iranian leader. True, we do not currently have any serious issues with Italy, but your comparison is not valid. (Other than the fact that the two — Cossiga and Ahmadinejad — are quite possibly equally stupid and both have warped views of the world.)

I am not sure what I need to “try again.” My point was that an ex-Italian leader made much stronger remark than Ahmadinejad did, and it was not reported at all in the US. The reason is because the US is not presently interested in bombing Italy (are we? It’s hard to keep track). If Rafsanjani, an ex-Iranian leader, made the same remarks as Cossiga, it would be big news in the US because we are presently leading up to a bombing of Iran, and therefore need to demonize Iran as much as possible. I do not think I will “try again,” because you have not addressed my point.

You are not going to find a correlation between education and beliefs about 9/11. If there is one, the correlation is the opposite of what you might think.

It’s so flattering to be talked about before I arrive. I don’t know what he said. He just arrived in Qom today, and the BBC won’t translate the speech for a couple of days. I’m sure he did insinuate that the US government version of 9/11 is “suspect.” This is common knowledge, and not really news, other than to try and demonize Ahmadinejad for the US public. An ex-president of Italy says the same thing in more direct terms. He said that it is well known in intelligence circles that 9/11 was planned by the CIA and Mossad. This didn’t become big news in the US, because we are not planning an bombing Italy anytime soon. If we were, this story would have been big.
