Video: Obama on the hot seat over William Ayers; Update: Hannity’s influence?

posted at 9:25 pm on April 16, 2008 by Allahpundit

Yeah, that William Ayers. Operation Chaos in full effect, baby — with an assist from former Clinton lackey George Stephanopoulos.

Nice rejoinder by Obama, though, to remind us he’s not the only one on stage who’s soft on domestic terrorism. Exit question: It’s all just a distraction, isn’t it?

Update: Wait ’til the left sees this. Wear a helmet, George.

I thought he was just being polite…

Steph was also asked by Steve Maltzberg on WOR whether he would ask the Ayers question on Sunday, before Hannity quizzed him about it on Tuesday’s radio show.

It won’t change any minds about Barak among his supporters — other than to make them wonder the same things conservatives have for the past decade about how a Clinton insider like George could be given such a key position at ABC. But by having a network not named Fox News put this out there, like ABC’s airing of the Jeremiah Wright tapes last month, it forces the topic into the mainstream and means that Ayers’ past associations with Barak and any of his comments now have to be factored into the Obama equation going towards the final primaries and into the general election.

Ayres was just misunderstood, as are all the other terrorists residing at Gitmo.

The only question left to ask is: “what did the U.S. do to cause Ayres to become a terrorist?”

Amazing. And he throws Coburn under the bus immediately after saying that “Tom Coburn is someone that I am friendly with”. So, let me just quickly associate him with a maggot who puts bombs in cop cars.

Jaibones on April 16, 2008 at 10:44 PM

I’ve been waiting for this story. When Ayers hit the news again recently, I was inspired to call the University of Illinois-Chicago, a shitty little satellite of U of I in Champaign, and ask the Provost’s office why on earth they would hire a bomber to teach kids.

I ended up with some stupid administrative assistant and got referred off to a PR flak who referred me to some published statement.

But then a week later, I get a phone call at home from a guy who identified himself as a member of the “University police” department, and he wanted to ask me about my call. Fair enough, I called him back and asked what he needed. And he says he is calling because I had made this call, and “used the word ‘terrorist’, and it made the woman nervous”.

Got that? They hire a guy who bombs police and military facilities, and I call and ask why, describing him as a “terrorist”, and they are “nervous” because I said the word terrorist.

That muffled explosion that you just heard was Orwell blowing up in his grave.

Hillary is such a windbag. Oh, and what did the Democrats give us in return for Jimmy Carter? Idiot.

WisCon on April 17, 2008 at 12:26 AM

Quite frankly, both of them make me sick. Obama has shown himself to be an arrogant, elitist, racist, terror-coddling, serial-liar. How dare he pretend that his “friendly” associations with a known terrorist are unimportant, in an age where the United States has suffered a monumental loss from people like him? And this terrorist had the nerve to say he’d wished they’d been able to take responsibility for more death and destruction, on September 11th, 2001, of all days. If he’s a college professor, that school needs to be de-funded, permanantly.

Hillary is no better. Not only is she covering up for the fact that her husband freed known terrorists back into the American general population, but she actually believes that she, and her cronies, are owed an APOLOGY for the Republican administration having President Bush and Vice President Cheney in office? Who in the living Hell does this arrogant wench think she is?!

Then, let’s also not forget that Obama tried covering his associations with terrorists up by equating a Conservative Republican’s belief that abortionists should be tried for murder and given the death penalty for killing the unborn. As a Christian Conservative and a Republican, I agree: abortion is murder, out-and-out, and there’s only one penalty for premeditated murder. In fact, it might even be classified as murder-for-hire. That also plays directly back into “bittergate”, in his attempts to make the Republican politician look like someone equally monstrous as Obama’s murdering terrorist BFF, because he holds strong and harsh biblical values toward the protection and preservation of life.

I cling to my guns, belief that illegal immigration needs to be stopped at all costs, and I cling to Jesus Christ, the King-of-Kings, Lord-of-Lords and my Personal Savior.

Obama clings to the Weather Underground terrorist group, elitism, deception, false (if not outright Satanic) biblical doctrine and racist black supramacist organizations.

Both Hillary and Obama are disgusting individuals, and some of the worst-of-the-worst the center-left liberal democratic party have to offer, fer sure.

If you don’t believe Obama is a Communist, compare his “A MORE PERFECT UNION” speech to the Preamble of the Communist Constitution.

The problem is, both Clinton and McCain also appear to be Communists…they just do a better job of disguising it and appearing more mainstream.

Right you are.

Orwell may have gotten the date wrong (1984), but the concepts he wrote about are becoming more and more true in the world around us.

As one example, note that any mention of the Republican Debate originally planned for February 28, 2008 (but cancelled by CNN because they considered McCain the “presumptive nominee”) has now been erased from wikipedia.

Original, historical primary source documents are disappearing from the National Archives. Why? Some people don’t want you to know the truth about this country’s Christian Heritage.

See as further anecdote the comment by our newest resident idiot alphie, citing some unnamed survey of 100 “historians” and claiming that 98 of them regard Bush as the worst President ever, despite the odd fact that he is still President.

Sean Hannity has been using his radio program to ask over and over again “Why does Barack Obama have a friendly relationship with Bill Ayers? Why did he go to the home of Bill Ayers to get a political endorsement? Why does he refuse to disassociate himself with Bill Ayers and Bernadette Dorne?”

It is time to answer the question Sean…

The answer is, because Bill Ayers and Bernadette Dorne are something like royalty to the elite liberal Hyde Park set, to which Barack Obama so desperately wants to belong. Obama needed the support of these unreconstructed leftists in order to run for Illinois State Senate and again when he ran for the US Senate. Kissing the ring of Bill Ayers is a necessary step in gaining this support.

It is ridiculous to suggest that Barack Obama was unaware of this. Bill Ayers is famous for his association with the Weather Underground and has parlayed that association into a lucrative life as the icon of the radical elites. Absent the influence he has with these people, influence that is entirely dependent on his terrorist past, Ayers would just be another English professor and Obama would not give him the time of day.

The damaging thing about this association is that it shows that Obama seeks and receives the support of the most radical elements of society, and that these people are his political base, and will be first in line for political favors. Barack Obama is from Chicago, where political favors are akin to a Holy Obligation. Just as with Jeremiah Wright, Barack Obama knew exactly who he was jumping into bed with, and it is dishonest in the extreme to pretend otherwise now.

He did not care then, and he does not care now, because his is an elitist. He accepts the radicalism of his associates because he is “down for the struggle”, but he thinks the mass of Americans are just too stupid, too bitter, or too blinded by the things to which they cling to understand and accept his radical friends. So he lies about knowing them, and expects us to take his word for it.

Sean has done an excellent job framing the question. Now it is time to give the answer, and in giving it, reinforce the accurate perception that Barack Obama is a radical elitist, and hopelessly out of touch with ordinary Americans.

gridlock2 on April 17, 2008 at 5:47 PM

I was listening to Steve Malzberg yesterday when he gave the question almost verbatim in its later use, to Snuffleupagus.

George said, “That is an excellent question” and then he used almost exactly that question. Hannity asked George if he was “going to ask him about Ayers”.

Hannity’s number two. Its only fair to give credit appropriately. Steve is not a local host. He’s been in the business for decades and at a time was number one on WABC. His current show is in syndication.

Some day, Sean will be called a “local host”.
