Hillary: Why, yes, Jeremiah Wright is a legitimate campaign issue

The beauty of this answer lies not in essentially declaring Wright fair game for the GOP, nor even in Obama’s “I can’t believe this” smirking, but in her going the extra mile near the end to inject Farrakhan and Hamas into it. Money quote: “You get to choose your pastor.” To paraphrase Jim Geraghty, I like the cut of your jib, shameless liar.
Exit question: She probably won’t be attending Yearly Kos next year, will she?

I feel like I’m watching two chimps throwing poo at each other. I need popcorn.

Are you saying you’re a racist? Ahem.
kc8ukw on April 16, 2008 at 10:13 PM
Watching the debate I had the feeling that Barry was just under the boiling point. Maybe ABC was trying to send him a message. Like ‘You want it? You got it. Be nice or we won’t.’

This constant chopped up buffering is driving me nuts!

Wasn’t it Bubba who kept changing the narrative? Obama is just trying very, very hard to be slicker. He does not want to say he agrees with his pastor, Farrakhan or Hamas or Ayers…but he does. He is skinny enough to keep trying to pretzelize himself. His Mrs. comes out fighting and tries to take no prisoners. Unfortunately, she comes off as ugly and mean and certainly no a caring individual. He comes off as slimy. Sorry, but that is my take. He makes my skin crawl and she makes my back stiffen…both things I pay much more attention to when dealing with people.
sharinlite on April 16, 2008 at 10:21 PM
Of course it’s an issue.
And I am GLAD it was brought up. GLAD!
Because that op-ed in the LATs today almost sent ME to the boiling point.
Of COURSE it’s a dang issue!
Mortis on April 16, 2008 at 10:21 PM
Havent’ you heard? If you don’t support Obama, you’re a racist.
misterpeasea on April 16, 2008 at 10:24 PM
I understand the “would you have left the church” question. However, will someone ever ask Ms. Clinton why she never left her husband?
Tokyo Times on April 16, 2008 at 10:24 PM
No, she probably won’t.
surrounded on April 16, 2008 at 10:26 PM
Go for it girl!
(Even though I hate it when she’s right, which she is).
Destroy him, Hildebeest! Drive the knife in DEEP, then twist it!
If it works (which it won’t, because you’re toast already) and the Super Sekrit un-Democratic Delegates snatch the nomination from the Obamanation and give it to you, the Dhimmicrat Party will explode in a most satisfyingly gory manner and, if it doesn’t, you’ll have made doubly damn sure that Hopey McChangeytude is fish fodder when the general election rolls around.
Which, coincidentally, will cause the Dhimmicrat Party to explode in a most satisfyingly gory &c…
Either way, us grownups get a good show to watch. Nothing better than watching Red on Red fights. You just want them to go on forEVAH!

Only if McCain was running against a conservative Republican and not his friends across the aisle.

LOL!! Since my father is Puerto Rican and is darker than Obama and my mother is of German decent, I was confused about who I might have been offending. :)
I was thinking more along the line of Democrats being chimps but whatever.

while they fight McCain is carving out postions for the general that clearly state a difference between the parties.
His gax tax holiday is a wonderful idea in that the environmental nutcases are going apesh*t over it. They of course are happy as a lark that gas is at record highs. the higher the better for this dimwits but the poor are really hurting. the gas tax holiday shows the poor that the elites in the democratic party really don’t care a hill of beans for them…

while McCain is better than HRC or BHO, he is not my first choice. Maybe he can bridge the growing divide in this nation. If BHO or HRC wins the general the 50/50 split will be even bigger and it could possibly split this nation in civil war esp. if BHO tries to take the nation down the communism path. wars have been fought for less. How long can we survive as a nation if we are divided. While the dems have very few good ideas there are some points that we can come together on. CEO pay is too high, environmental bills can be agreed on etc. McCain can get somethings done than other Rep leaders couldn’t. Kind of like Nixion going to China. If enough reagan demcrates switch over to the REP again we can get spending under control, the debt fixed, strengthen the dollar and bring down energy costs fairly quickly.

Hamas in the church bulletin? Why haven’t I heard of this before? That’s as bad as anything else Wright has done.
jgapinoy on April 16, 2008 at 11:00 PM
She cleaned his clock but also she lies with flawless perfection.
“My city of New York” – you’d think she was born there and never set a foot outside of it, it was said so perfectly.
“You don’t choose your family” – she chose, and chooses Bill.
“As leaders we have a choice who we associate with, and who we apparently give some kind of seal of approval to” – Suha Arafat, and not to forget her “seal of approval” of Bill himself.
Entelechy on April 16, 2008 at 11:04 PM
They are all losers and not worthy of a single conservative vote.
Some Republicans are deluded that McCain will promote some items on the conservative agenda. We will get from him exactly what he delivered in the Senate since 2001.
Valiant on April 16, 2008 at 11:10 PM
She is a shameless lier, but the eye daggers of Obama, priceless.
PrettyD_Vicious on April 16, 2008 at 11:16 PM
I hadn’t picked up Wright inviting Hamas to contribute to the church bulletin – looks like Obama’s pastor takes the Nation of Islam thing even more seriously than feared.
Good work Hillabeast!

She just carved a nice, safe path through the wilderness for idependents and Dems to walk away from Obama this November.
The loons over at dailykos just don’t understand why God and country are important concepts worth spending debate time on. sad.

Is there somewhere where I can see the whole clip with his answer and hers? When I was watching it on live feed last night I missed this part because of my husband’s addiction to Call of Duty 4 (he made me turn it off because he was “lagging”).
ScoopPC11 on April 17, 2008 at 6:55 AM
The Kos kooks are beside themselves with rage. I can only imagine the kind of insane rantings going on at democratic underground. I’m hoping for suicide pacts if the messiah looses.

Only a Clinton can get up in front of the nation and lie with a straight face about bringing people together after eight years of her party working to undermine the military, the Commander of the military, successful military leaders and the American people.
Her New York? As a native New Yorker that makes me sick.

Never happen, they know that if they’re dead, they can’t whine anymore about how much the world sucks and how “unfair” life is and share their psychotic fantasies of mass murdering those who don’t agree with them.
Regressives will secretly ache in sheer extacy if their messiah loses because then they can continue to do all of the above and more for another four years.

NOW would be an excellent time for “herself” to throw the kitchen sink at “The Magic Negro”! I suspect he’s a bit vulnerable this morning…
sabbott on April 17, 2008 at 8:52 AM
I wouldn’t vote for either of them but this whole debate looked like a set up ambush by the Clintons. Charlie and George brought up, time after time, controversy surrounding Obama and lobbed mostly softballs to Clinton. What a farce!!!

This election is between three liberal candidates. McCain may fair well as he is slightly to the right of the other two.
On a political line it would look like this:
left-[O_C_____M__|_____________]-right
| being centrist.
TheSitRep on April 17, 2008 at 9:26 AM
Personally, I’d prefer a conservative. Wish there was one running.
Kowboy on April 17, 2008 at 10:02 AM
I loved the moment but she was remiss in not saying exactly why associations matter.
The only reason she is going after Wright is because that is perhaps the only similar sleezy association that she and her husband have not had. Hence no kettle/pot blowback.
moxie_neanderthal on April 17, 2008 at 10:21 AM
After EIGHT years of Bush, a President John McCain …. must just bring that about.
(Either that or some of them might actually leave for another country like they’ve been promising.)

Don’t you also get to choose (or unchoose) your husband?

I guess B.O. was too young at the time to know Hil’s 35-year experience record of helping the people consisted of defending Black Panther cop killers during the “revolution”.

When, by a miracle of the Living God, Huckabee becomes the Republican nominee, vote for him in the General Election.
Many naysayers will try to tell you that Huckabee is not a conservative, but his stand on the issues is the very definition of conservative values. Fair Tax. Human Life Amendment. Conservative Judges. Build the Fence. Support Israel. Energy Independence. Etc., etc., etc.
Red Pill on April 17, 2008 at 12:55 PM
This is my favorite debate of this entire campaign.
VERY entertaining!!
More, more!

Well, I’m not surprised about Obama’s thumping last night. We all knew he was an empty suit. Amazing how it was the MSM that opened his Komona and left him dazed and confused like an armadillo in the headlights on the Interstate.
And, we all knew Hillary has no problem kicking a dog when he is down. It gets even more intersting from here on out.
The higher you go, the thinner the air, and the sharper the knives.

For all of the wonderfully nasty stuff we’ve learned lately,
let’s not forget that SHE isn’t the lesser of two evils, or some sort of moderate… SHE is the anti-christ, and must be defeated. I’d rather see her go down now than later. Obama is more beatable in the general.
Gartrip on April 17, 2008 at 6:21 PM
Well now…I’ve lived long enough to now be able to say that Hillary Clinton made remarks that I found to be intelligent, honest, thoughtful and balanced.
.
(I keep looking around for Rod Serling to make an entrance…)
DavePa on April 17, 2008 at 7:15 PM
This may seem a bit conspiratorial, but I doubt ABC News got up yesterday morning and decided to start asking Democrats the same kind of tough questions they ask Republicans. They deviated quite a bit from The Narrative at that debate, The Narrative having declared that Obama put Jeffrey Wright to bed with the most brilliant speech in American history, capital gains taxes are only paid by rich fatcats, and the nebulous group known as The Rich have infinite resources to pay infinite taxes. Obviously Stephanopolous is a Clinton operative (the idea of him magically changing into an “objective journalist” still makes me chuckle) but people higher up at ABC had to sign on to that little auto-da-fe. I think some of the party elders quietly decided, shortly after the Wright thing blew up, that Obama is an unelectable albatross, and this was the first shot in a slow-motion character assassination. They could have waited to ask these tough questions until it was McCain debating Obama… the fact they’re doing it now is a tremendous favor to the Democrats.
